A 1 Appliance Repair

We described the problem with our gas range over the phone, and were told it was probably an igniter failure. We discussed with A-1 the merits of repairing a 19 year-old range, and decided it was still worth the cost. Because we were going on vacation, we scheduled an appointment several days in advance. They called the day before to confirm the appointment, called on the day of the appointment 30 minutes before arriving (well within the scheduled time), and completed the repair quickly and within the estimated cost. I felt that we were treated very fairly, with the pros and cons clearly presented, and we would definitely use A-1 again.

Brooke came out the same day we call and put the washer through a diagnoistic test. It was determined the motor had gone bad. Brooke said he would order the motor and would be able to return in two days. Brooke came out and replaced the motor. Once the motor was removed and showed it to me and you could see the burn marks on the casing of the motor housing. He was very quick and through with the repair. Also, very friendly. I will use his services again.

Brook was punctual. Also - week prior- I called him to repair microwave. Doesn't work on microwaves, but told me what to try out and it worked. Therefore, called him when I needed refrigerator fixed.

I thought my dryer was about to catch fire as there was melted and scorched plastic on the back panel next to the heat element. I called A-1 after reading reviews on Angie's List and left a message late Saturday. Brooke called back Monday morning about 9 am and said he could be here between 10 and 11, and he was here on time. I had taken the top and back off, disengaged the dryer belt and managed to take the screws out that were holding the heat element. Brooke checked over the dryer, pointed out that the back panel is metal and that the melted plastic was probably from papers in a plastic bag that been taped to the back panel. He reassembled the dryer and tested the temperatures through low, medium, and high settings. He suggested that I could remove the melted plastic with a putty knife or by sanding. Brooke also answered my questions about the best way to care for my front-loader washer. He probably spent at least a good hour here and billed for a very reasonable service charge.

I called A-1 after reading the reviews on Angie's List and left a message. Brooke called back within 10 minutes. He gave me a general quote for the repair and told me the only variability was in the actual price of the heating element. I got the model number of the oven and he was able to get the part and install it the next day. He was very professional and even allowed me a chance to clean behind the stove when he pulled it out. Overall, I was impressed with the price and the level of service. I will absolutely use his services again, though I am hoping nothing else breaks in the near future!

I didn't realize until around 5:00 PM that my refrigerator wasn't cooling. I reached A-1 Appliance Repair & was SO pleased to get it repaired that evening. Luckily, Preston discovered that a relay was all it needed. I was frantically searching online for a new refrigerator & wondering which friends could store my food until I got a new one. VERY pleased that Preston was so responsive & was able to save my refrigerator.

Dryer quit working on New Years Eve.....it would not tumble the clothes. Called a company we had before and no one answered the phone so we checked out Angies List and found A-1 Appliance and they not only answered the phone but came out the same day a couple of hours after our call. The belt needed to be replaced and he had that with him and replaced. Also, cleaned out vent and told us to clean the vent screen with dish soap because some of the vent holes were clogged. Very impressed with the service especially coming out to repair on New Years Eve. We will use them again for sure! .

It was a pleasant experience from the call to set up the appointment to final resolution of the issue.

He does excellent work. He shows a genuine interest in what he does and shows great care. I would highly recommend him to anyone.

I left a message and my call was returned within 15 minutes. After describing the problem, Brooke was able to diagnose the problem over the phone and said it would cost at least $500 to repair it. At that point I knew it wasn't worth it, but Brooke gave me a thorough explanation of what was wrong and why I shouldn't put $500 into a 14-year old oven. I would hope that any reputable repair person would give similar advice, but what impressed me was that he was willing to diagnose it over the phone. He could have easily said he needed to to see it, charged me $65+ for a visit and THEN told me it wasn't worth fixing. I almost called another top-rated company but it sounded from the reviews that I would only get to talk to someone to schedule an appointment and I knew I would be facing a charge for a visit when I had a feeling the answer was going to be that I shouldn't repair the oven. I really appreciated being able to talk directly to someone with technical expertise, and then to have that person give me good advice without finding a way to charge me for it was icing on the cake. I will definitely call A-1 the next time I need an appliance repaired. Brooke earned my loyalty and I haven't even met him.

Need a lots of time and efforts to fix this problem with my husband. I am not sure if it can be repaired and not to be replaced. However he worked very hard to fix the problem and he did fix it.

Brook arrived on time; found his supplier had sold him a bad bulb; drove all the way back to the supplier and got a new part; returned; and completed the repair at the estimate given.

You name it, Brooke has fixed it in our home (with older appliances). Refridge, dishwasher and now washing machine. Not only does he fix it, but he truly wants to explain to you how the equipment works, what tends to fail and his recommendations. he's personable and professional. Responsive and works around our schedule. He wants to assure that you are happy with work he has provided. I trust him.

Do call early in the morning for an appointment so they can schedule their appointments for the day.

I got an appointment quickly and he showed up on time. Naturally, the spin cycle did work when the technician was here. And it's worked ever since. So, I guess I just didn't have my last load in Missouri balanced properly. I appreciate that the technician was honest about that and didn't try to sell me parts I didn't need. As far as the knob is concerned, I decided not to have it replaced. It was the knob for the extra rinse cycle. The technician told me how expensive it would be and I decided it wasn't worth it. In the end I paid for a service call and didn't have any work done. That's okay because I didn't really need anything done. As I said before, I appreciate his honesty. He could easily have ripped me off.

We called A-1 based on Angie's List ratings. Brooke was very honest and helpful...he referred us to Andrew at The Appliance Guy as we have a BOSCH dishwasher and he is not an authorized repairman for this particular brand. We appreciated his honestly and the referral to a fellow Angie's List vendor. We highly recommend A-1.

He cleaned out the dryer and took me outside to discuss what we could do to help the vent from having this occur again. He was very helpful, and we would definitely call him for any appliance repair in the future.

I called him on a Saturday morning. He called back within the hour and we made an appointment for Monday morning. He diagnosed the likely problem over the phone (and it turned out he was right). He came over, verified the problem, drove to the store to pick up the part, and came back and fixed it - took less than an hour. He was very honest. We discussed the fridge's age (8 year old Whirlpool) and he gave us his opinion on how much he would spend to fix such a fridge himself vs. buy a new one. He seemed very knowledgeable and helpful and not just out to make a buck.

Brooke was great. I calledat justafter 8 am Monday morning and he arrived an hour later. He informed me that my dryer needed a new motor but since it was 9 years old andhad no other repairs, he was concerned I would spend close to $300and something else might go wrong in a month or two. He gave me some time to look at prices on new dryers. When I decidedto go ahead with the repair, he picked up a new motor and came back later. He said he would be back about 6:00 pm and actually called about 4pm to say he was on his way back. He did the repair in about an hour and everything was great. Ver\y fair price and very professional. Brooke wants repeat business not just quick repairs so he treats people right.

I contacted A-1 Appliance Repair and spoke with BrookePreston told me that he could see me between 3 and 6 in the afternoon and that he would call prior to coming. Brooke called and was at my home by 4:30 p.m. -on the same day of my call. He analyzed the situation associated with my ice bucket - discovered a broken part on the ice bucket and made a phone call to see if he could locate the part or another bucket. Brooke went to his distributor - called me on the phone - we greed to replace the bucket. Brooke was at my house by 9:00 a.m. on 9/19/2012 with a new bucket - which was installed in my refrigerator. Brooke also advised me to keep the old ice bucket as I might need to use it for parts in the future. Great Service and was glad that this was resolved so quickly.

Electric Clothes Dryer stopped working late this afternoon, called another contractor and left a message, was told it would be next week before they could get out. Called A-1 and Brooke answered and said he could come out within the hour(and I called at 5:30 pm). As promised, Brooke showed up at 6:30 pm and started the diagnoses. It was not the belt as he suspected, and he quickly determined it was the fuse which then caused the heating unit to short out. He also recommended replacing the pulley due to a noise issue I mentioned. The washer was purchased in 2003 and I wasn't sure if it was worth fixing or if I should just replace it. Brooke clearly explained the merits of the model I had and that it was in good condition. he gave me a quote of $200 + tax for parts and labor.Brooke said he had the parts with him as well. I felt the price was quite reasonable all things considered and within the hour Brooke had all the parts changed out, vacuumed the entire unit out and even reattached the vent hose at both ends. I can't say enough the professionalism, care and the reasonable price that Brooke did. I will use A-1 for all my large appliance repair needs from now on.

The lock on our front-loading washer jammed. This became an emergency as we needed the items in the machine and were preparing to leave town the next day. Based on a link to the website, I sent an email to A-1describing our dilemma. Brooke called us promptly the next morning. He was able to schedule a time within our available range and arrived at that time. He unlocked the door and was honest about costs of repair to the latch as well as other problems he identified with the washer. We decided it was probably time to invest in a new machine, but were more than willing to pay what we believed to be a reasonable service charge for his service.
