I called and got an appointment in just a few days. The scheduler was very nice and worked with me to get an early morning time. I was given a 1/2 hour window for arrival. The serviceman arrived promptly and got right to work. He offered to show me what he was doing and how. He was very thorough, cleaned up afterward and left about 2-2.5 hours later. Overall, a very satisfying experience.

Everything looked great! I was very pleased. The work was also very reasonably priced and fair. I didn't get the feeling they were gouging. The workers were extremely professional and clean; there was no mess left behind. I would recommend them to anyone needing concrete work done.
Description of Work: We had a few cracks in our basement walls which needed filled with epoxy. We also had a concrete porch behind the house which had dropped. They poured concrete to pump it up about an inch and a half.

The good and bad of Concrete - Leveling/Mudjacking. Good: quick and fast fix of the problem without having to replace the concrete. Cut 1" to 2" holes, remove cut concrete, pump in new concrete to level, fill cut hole. Bad: Plug holes look bad. You will have round holes of concrete that will be a different color then the existing concrete at every drill location. Conclusion: Did not have work done by Dwyer. The price was way out of line with the work to be done. We went with replacing the failing walkway with new for only $200. more by another Angies list contractor. They had to jackhammer it out, remove and hall away the old. Add crushed limestone fill, frame in area, pour and finish, add grass seed where heavy equipment had been. Walkway is new, solid and looks wonderful. For the house's future resale it looks so much better then plug hole fix's in my opinion. Last opinion: I have 15yrs. construction experience. In this instance and my opinion the concrete - Leveling/Mudjacking should have been a quarter to a third the price of replacement based on time, men, equipment needed and work to be done.

I have used them a couple of times and they have been fine to work with. We were getting pretty high dollar stuff done, but, they worked it out with us. They stuck to the estimate. We were happy to find some discount coupons from one of the magazines, so, we were also happy with the way price ended up. They were just really nice.

Company does not perform the service required as listed on Angies List.
Description of Work: Company should not be included under concrete pouring; they don't pour concrete. Dan arrived on time but was very brusque and unwilling to respond to questions. Bordered on rude. Performing his job seemed a real imposition. First (and only) impression of this company was not at all positive.

Work to install piers to stabilize and level our garage foundation was scheduled to be done on the Monday & Tuesday before Christmas, (which was on Thursday) - several months after receiving a quote for the job. I had already waited too long to get the job underway, and I was told the job would be done before Christmas, so I regrettably agreed to have Dwyer start on this date. The crew showed up late, wasting time while the weather forecast was worsening. The supervisor walked me through what they would be doing and what to expect, but rather than just digging individual holes for the piers as had been explained, they dug a complete trench around the perimeter of the garage; causing much more damage to the landscaping than I had been led to expect. In spite of having a complete trench in which to work, progress was slow, due in part to bad weather, but also due to failing equipment and an unprofessional crew - goofing off and even wrestling with each other in the driveway. Ultimately the crew wouldn't work when the rain got worse and they ended up leaving with the job half done in the middle of the second day... (right before the rain stopped). Until the crew returned 6 days later, access to the driveway, garage, rear entrance and the front walkway were all blocked by a huge pile of dirt.. Work continued the following Monday, and was was finally rushed to completion in the dark... making it impossible for the crew to see what they were doing or for me to judge the quality of the work. When I checked on the aftermath of the job in the morning I was shocked at the mess that was left behind. No attempt was made to clean up; a thick layer of mud was was still on the yard, driveway and front walkway, and shreds of plastic sheeting and broken drainage pipe littered the yard. I had to replant all of the bushes myself, (most of which will not survive), which had just been tossed on top of the dirt that had been roughly pushed back into the trench. In addition, I can no longer close or lock one of the windows in the garage, and a screen for the window is damaged. Upon my objections, Dwyer did make a concession on the price of the job, but that does not compensate for the poor work and sloppy job they did. I would not use them again and would not advise friends to use them.
Description of Work: A corner of the foundation to my garage was settling, causing visible gaps and cracks in the bricks in the walls of the garage, and causing the garage to shift away from the main structure of the house. I engaged Dwyer to install their foundation stabilizing system that sinks steel piers into the ground, and attaches to the foundation to stabilize and level the structure.

Superb - these guys are great. We'd spoken with many other basement "waterproofers" - most of whom wanted exorbitant amounts of money to install the usual French drain type systems + sump pumps, etc. Many of those contractors bad-mouthed their competition, and one of them even admitted that their company uses "scare tactics" to make a sale (meet w/husband/wife together because the husband will argue price, but the wife will be scared by their overstated dangers of mold issues). Dwyer, on the other hand, recognized that the issue was much easier and less expensive to resolve with some water diversion outside and the epoxy crack repair inside. Their technician was kind, communicative, and hard-working - they take their time to make sure the job gets done right. Every repair worked exactly as we hoped/they promised - Realtors recommend these guys all the time - and so did ours!
Description of Work: Our poured concrete foundation had developed some cracks - some of which were allowing water into the basement. We hired them to perform their epoxy repair process on these areas.

They worked very quickly, without breaks. They told us it might take as many as two hours, but it took less than that. I expected lots of noise from their machine, but it was not bad at all. There was shrubbery around the work area, but they did not leave a bit of stray concrete anywhere.
Description of Work: The team jacked up our porch steps and patched the cracks caused by settling. The work looks professional, and they cleaned up every bit of the mess. It was as if they hadn't been here at all -- except for the great looking steps!

While I had no problem scheduling the quote, it did take 2 months to get them to come out and perform the work. When they came they had to dig out down around the foundation, and apparently they had to go deeper than they expected and it took longer. The workers were friendly, but they didn't seem as experienced and knowledgeable as the salesman who had bid the work. They initially did a good job of bringing the house back level, but they tried to tweak it and the doors started sticking a little more and some of the visible cracks began to widen again. They never got it back as good as they had it. They filled in the dirt and left, but they didn't pack it down, because a few days later it had settled nearly a foot (channeling spring rains around the foundation probably). Over this summer the house has resettled, doors are sticking and cracks are widening. I called them over two weeks ago to speak to their warranty department and I haven't gotten a return call. I called them once again and they said they were very busy and would call me. Net, their work doesn't appear to have solved the problem they said it would. I would not use them again except I want them to honor their warranty.
Description of Work: Dwyer installed steel piering to support and level a portion of my house that had settled due to drought conditions. They installed 7 steel peers around the back corner of the house.

They were prompt in giving me an estimate and coming out to do the work. They were professional and cleaned up the area; hauling away the built in bookcase that had to be removed to get to the leak area. They also applied a repair to a "weeping" spot on the laundry room wall at no extra charge.
Description of Work: Dwyer repaired a leak in my basement wall. Another company wanted to drill my basement floor and run a line to the drain outlet in my laundry room. Dwyer believed this was overkill; that all that was needed was to repair the leaking area around the water meter; so far this has worked and saved me some money and problems with drilling up my floor in the rec room.

The Dwyer technicians, Ben (an 11-year employee) and John, showed up on time. They inspected the work-site, discussed with me the process they were to follow and proceeded to digging the necessary holes for the lifting equipment. The dirt from the digging was placed on tarps. Ben and John installed three lifting points and installed steel piers using hydraulic equipment. They then raised the pad. It was interesting to watch the cracks in the interior wall disappear as the lifting proceeded. Ben checked the doorway and nearby windows to confirm that they were level. They then removed the lifting equipment, filled in the holes and packed down the dirt. Ben and John were friendly and easy to talk to. They answered my curiosity questions. During the work a Dwyer supervisor stopped by to determine how the job was progressing. The job lasted approximately six hours. All of Dwyer's representatives were friendly, informative and focused on getting the job done correctly the first time.
Description of Work: Dwyer's task was to lift the concrete pad beneath our family room. The slight sinking of the pad caused cracking in the interior wall and to the stucco exterior of our 50-year old home. The stucco had separated from the concrete wall material. The back door and screen door tended to jam and remain closed. The door would operate easily a day or two after a heavy rain or if sprinklers were used to wet the soil.

I was not enthusiastic about giving Dwyer business after I met the gentleman who did the walk-around and estimate. He was condescending in his responses to my questions and made it clear that Dwyer was very busy and didn't need my business, In fact, they were more interested in commercial business now. Despite that, they came highly recommended from Angie's List and from other contacts at work. I got a quote from another company and the price was about the same, so I went with Dwyer since I'd heard more positive feedback on them. The guys who did the work were surprisingly young (to me), but they were courteous, answered my questions, and seemed to know what they were talking about and what they were doing. They were only there for 3 days and didn't leave any messes. I thought they could do a little better at preserving some of the landscaping, but they did tell us ahead of time that it would need work after they were gone. They basically just saved a few of the big plants and did not attempt to save any of the smaller ones. Overall, I was happy with their work, the real test will be whether the foundation is still in good shape in 5 or 10 years.

The company representative, a gentleman named Dave, was very friendly and polite. He made the initial call back and told me another person would call to do the scheduling. That call took a bit longer to arrive than I expected (a couple weeks). The day of the work I was able to pop in for about 10 minutes to check on it, but couldn't stay. I was surprised to find them using a jackhammer to drill holes approximately 3 inches in diameter into the sidewalk and front step. I was under the impression the company would dig under the existing concrete and then pump the new material. The original concrete is 7 to 8 years old. The new holes don't match in color and are very noticeable. The front step was lifted (impressive as it had sunk about 11 inches), but shifted 1 inch to the side. Not terribly noticeable unless you're looking directly at the step in relation to the side of the porch. New concrete oozed out of the sides of the step and parts of the sidewalk. We'll need to break it off or cover it with mulch, neither time or labor extensive, but certainly unexpected. I was also upset to find 4 solar powered walkway lights that had been broken when (I'm guessing here) the pumping hose was dragged too close to them. One of the lights was laying in our mulch and three were stuck back in the ground in slightly different locations and with a broken support pole. I won't be able to repair these and will have to buy new lights. I'm not as upset by the fact that they were broken (it wasn't professional, but stuff happens) as I am by the fact that it appears they knew they were broken and said nothing to me.
Description of Work: Dwyer lifted a section of our front sidewalk and a rather large step leading up to our front porch. They drilled holes in the existing concrete and pumped in new concrete to go under and raise the sunken sections.

The gentleman who came for the estimate was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. However, he told me I needed to have more slabs lifted than I requested, and told me he was 'giving me a deal' to do the extra lifting that he said was really needed, though I disagreed. I accepted the estimate and called someone else. Then I got a phone call from the estimator saying there was a sale and the quote would go up if I didn't act now. I asked him to re-quote for just the one slab I wanted lifted and he gave me an oral quote what was even higher by about $100 than he originally had discussed during the initial estimate. I questioned him about it, repeating back to him what he'd initially said, and he told me how 'that price didn't include x, y, z' and that I really needed the whole 3 slabs lifted. AND that, if, when they started doing the work, if the supervisor discovered a need for more lifting, the bill could be higher. I said no-thanks, and later called the company and left a voice mail telling them I will not work with a company that pressures me to do more than I request and makes me feel like I'm dealing with a bad used car salesman. In the end, I had another concrete lifting company do the job. They said they'd lift the one slab for a fee (that was about $20 less than Dwyer's quote, so essentially the same) and he too warned that, once they got into the work, they might discover additional holes under other slabs next to the one. The price would be the same, but we have to understand that there might be a few extra spots on other slabs where they did the additional work. This other contractor was right, AND the other 2 slabs Dwyer wanted me to have lifted (on the left side) were ultimately fine, but the ones on the south side were the ones that ended up getting the extra lift. So, I chose the right contractor, and it WASN'T DWYER.

Promptly received a fair and accurate quote from their Rep of $8000. He walked me through the entire repair process to ensure I understood what they would be doing to the house. He said he could not guarantee that the chimney would go all the way back in place (everyone who quoted said this). Repairs were scheduled quickly, but were delayed twice due to rain. My only complaint is that after our first rain delay they forgot to call me back with new scheduled day. I ended up calling them after a week of not hearing from them. Once they began, the project took the promised two days. Their employees kept me informed thoughout the process and were very polite and friendly. Project was completed on time and accurately. Bonus: The chimney even went completely back in place!!!

Due to the absence of a true footer under the room, the first efforts to lift the structure failed because the concrete "foundation" crumbled. A second crew from Columbus was called in to remedy the faulty concrete and to complete the installation of the eight jacks. The work also involved the jackhammering of a 24 inch access in the concrete apron on one side of the room. I was under the impression that I would be responsible for pouring concrete to restore the apron, but, happily, this work was completed by the Dwyer crew. The entire job took 5 days. September 2010: one of the stone outside window sills developed a crack and one side dropped about 1/8th inch. Dwyer sent a representative to check in out. He thought the drop was due to the near-drought conditions and not really bad enough to require correction at this time. I will watch it for more changes.
Description of Work: The slab under a small (10 x 22') room addition had sunk several inches (3-5 degrees) on one side. The result was cracks in the brick walls and a hump on the roof. Dwyer calculated the number of piers and jacks needed to restore it to level. The time estimate was 2 days. The workers appeared as scheduled and began the digging necessary to install the jacks and lifting frames. (2006)
