They did an excellent job for me. They did everything they said they would do. They told me what dates and times that they would be at my home and that all was true.
Description of Work: They lifted our summer porch foundation. They came and corrected it because it had settled unevenly.

The overall experience with them was good. We found out through them that we actually had piers on our house that weren’t revealed. It kind of turned into a mess. But Dwyer did an excellent job. They honored the warranty. They came back and adjusted the piers at no charge. We never actually paid them to do any work. I do have a high view of them because they honored our warranty and came back and did the right thing. They do have a 25-year warranty on any foundation work they do as transferable to one owner. We had a couple of issues. They came back and checked it out. They did a search and found that they had done that work six years earlier. So they did two days of work for no charge. They are very reliable and a good company to work with. They wouldn’t have to even tell us that it was under warranty. We didn’t even know. They were the ones who brought it to our attention. We were getting ready to pay them for the work.
Description of Work: Dwyer made in a warranty repair in the spring. They put in piers on our foundation.

Wall cracks revealed that we had foundation problems in our older brick house, and an engineer's inspection (done previously, not by Dwyer) recommended this piering option. Two companies bid on the job -- Dwyer Co. and Boiman Sons and Daughters. The solutions recommended were similar. The Dwyer bid was substantially higher but careful comparison indicated a couple reasons. First, they recommended more piers be installed. Second, they included the cement close-up and restoration of any downspout interruption that might be necessary. (Interestingly, this difference was made clear on the Boiman bid sheet but not on Dwyers' -- I had to call them to verify. Dwyer sheet did not give as much info.) I went with Dwyer because I thought their estimator had been more thorough, which gave me confidence that the additional piers they recommended were warranted (though I can't verify this). Dwyer was also ready to do the work right away. Both companies recommended the whole back of my house be supported but also acknowledged (based on various factors) that one corner was worse, so both companies divided the work in their bids so I could conveniently accept just a part. I did this with the Dwyer bid. Dwyer came and seemed to do a good job but I rated them as a 'B' on a couple of points because they could improve their communication. The crew that came had not looked carefully enough to see that only part of the work had been accepted. Had I not been there to discuss it they would have taken on the whole job and there would have been a problem. Second the crew arrived without a jackhammer for a job that (had they examined the sheet) clearly needed one, and had to go back for it. No problem for me, but just sayin'. They completed the work in 3 days, leaving the work site very clean. They closed up the interior (garage floor) concrete openings but left the exterior ones (driveway) for a different crew to do. However, no one came for a couple weeks so I had to call the company back to get that crew scheduled. The initial date did not work because of weather; I had to call again for another date. This was not a major problem but they could have managed this a little more closely. Overall I was satisfied. The amount I paid was the amount bid. This work is expensive and it is unfortunate to have a sinking foundation but the installation process is very impressive.
Description of Work: The Dwyer Co. installed steel piers to support a sinking foundation. This involves bolting a heavy steel plate to a poured foundation below the ground level, then driving a heavy steel tube down into the soil until it reaches firmer substrate, and the tube attaches to the plate for permanent support. Seven of these were installed, four inside our garage and three from the outside; in each case existing concrete (either in garage floor or driveway outside) had to be opened in about a 3" x 3" section. Then the concrete openings were repaired. The work is guaranteed to stop vertical movement of the foundation where the work is done.

The estimator was very professional. He did not appear to be a salesman from the get-go. He was obviously somebody that knew what he was talking about. He made me feel comfortable with exactly what he said would be necessary because I had another contractor who came over whose price was five times more than what I needed. Somebody from the office called me and told me the name of the gentleman who would be coming out, what type of vehicle he would be driving and so forth. The gentleman who did the work was very polite. He was actually able to push the chimney all the way back to the house. Six contractors had come out and checked the chimney. All of them including Dwyer had said that they did not believe there was any chance they would get it all the way back to the house. However, Dwyer managed to do it. They were very nice and very organized. The vehicle was very nice and clean. They made very, very minimal mess.
Description of Work: I used Dwyer for foundation repair after there was some water damage.

Everything was fine except I was not real impressed with the sales person. I just used them because they came highly recommended but if it was just based on the sales person I would not have used them. The work was good, they did it the day they said they were going to do it, and they did it the way they said they would. The sales person just came down on all the other companies and that doesn't impress me.

I got three estimates. They were very professional and nice. They were on time and polite. They told us what needed to be done and gave us a quote within two days. The third company I called said that the repair was not necessary and I called an engineer who agreed with what he said, so we decided not to get the job done. They were very responsive and made appointments quickly. They were on time.

We have a false wall that is attached to our house that was pulling away. They had to dig down and raise the wall and put supports in. They came out and gave us an estimate that seemed a bit high at the time - but I will tell you it was a lot of work and they spent the entire day digging around the wall - and then lifting it back up and filling it in. Quite a production and worth every penny. They had to bring out a digger as the wall went a lot deeper than they had originally thought. The workers who came out seemed to know what they were doing - they were courteous and hardworking. The only negative is that they killed some of my landscaping - not that it was fabulous to begin with, but they were pretty brutal with it. And please note it is in the contract that if they kill your plants while working they are not responsible - so if you are meticulous gardener - beware. Or take the plants out yourself and re-plant - or take it as an opportunity to do some new landscaping - any way - bottom line. Dwyer did a fine job - at least the wall seems to be hanging in there. I would definately recommend them or hire them again for this type of word.

It seemed like all they wanted to do was epoxy the cracks from the inside. There was one they couldn't get from the inside because there was some tile. They politely said that if I wanted to dig the whole outside they would epoxy it from the outside, which wasn't what I particularly wanted to do. The reason I got them was because they are probably one of the higher priced foundation people around and it is really difficult to get anybody to get the foundation fixed. We came up with 32-35 feet that he was just going to epoxy. Another guy said I didn't want to patch from the inside and that I needed to patch from the outside. It seemed like he just wanted to patch. They were nice but they didn't do what I wanted done. I am still debating on who to go with but I probably won’t use them. They were responsive and came when they said they would be here.

The Dwyer people did everything well, from the estimate meeting to the completed job. They arrived on schedule and took less than four hours, including a good cleanup. I was very pleased with their workmanship and with the suggestions provided on the best methods for caulking the driveway seams, to avoid future problems.
Description of Work: They lifted three large sections of our driveway up approximately 5" at the entrance into our garage. This provided the original height relationship of the driveway into the garage and this also returned the original drainage away from the garage entrance. They also lifted one section of the sidewalk to match with the driveway.

The driveway had sunk about three inches. They came out and drilled holes in the driveway and pumped some concrete in there. It filled underneath and raised the driveway and made it level again. There was also an area under the porch that had sunk a little bit. One gentleman came out when I called and gave me the estimate. Then two guys came out in a large truck and we discussed what they were going to do. They showed me where they were going to drill the holes in the concrete and the corner of the porch. They mixed a batch of concrete and solved the problem. They even found a space under my sidewalk that I did not know about. It was not originally on the estimate but they went ahead and fixed it and did not charge me more. They had guaranteed their work for three years, but last year I found that the driveway had sunk about more than an inch. They had said that they would come back and repair it for free if it sunk more than half and inch. Although I sold the house, I scheduled an appointment with Dwyer for the people who bought the house and they came out and fixed the problem at no charge. It was like two years and six months into the three-year warranty and they came and fixed it for free.

They were really pricey because what they wanted to do was a bit crazy. They wanted to pull up our landscaping, dig down, and seal the foundation from the exterior. We only had seepage, not full blown water coming in, so we felt like that repair was a little extreme for our situation. He was a nice guy and he was accommodating, and he came right over even though he was extremely busy.

Well i will let you know after this is posted and after my call to the better business bureau.
Description of Work: I called Dwyer to have them come out to my fathers house to look at a foundation/water leak in the basement. A rep named Dan met me and we discussed the problem. He gave me gave me his thoughts on how to fix the issue. I told him to put together a estimate and my brother and I would consider them for the work. Dan sent me the estimate of $6000.00 and we agreed to send a $2000.00 for a deposit and would wait to hear form Dan on when they could start. He had indicated it would be 30 days at the earliest, but would get back to us on an exact date. In the mean time, we discovered that the foundation was not the problem, so I called Dan back to let him know and that I would like the deposit back. He said it should not be a problem since we were not even scheduled yet. Well that was a month ago and everyone I talk to at Dwyer has given me the run around, no one seems to know who would handle the deposit return. I have left messages and get no reply, Dan said he would follow up and so far nothing!!!! I even told Dan that if you need to keep a couple hundred dollars for admin expenses that it would be OK with us. So my advice is to steer clear from them or make sure they do the work first before you send them any money.

I was getting cracks in my home and i was getting a little worried. The technician came over the day after I called. He checked foundation, looked at the cracks in the home, checked the doors, and the structure beams. He let me know my house was solid and there were no structural problems. The cracks were due to the clay soil. The best solution would be to have the cracks painted. I liked their honesty and that they didn't try to sell me things I didn't need.

They completed the work in a week and a half. They even worked on Saturday, which is their normal 6 day working week. We had 3 estimates for the work and Dwyer was about the best price for the work. They lifted everything up, stabilized it to where it should be, used piers where needed and poured all the dirt back in. Their work was good. They showed up every day and went right to work. If we wanted something done at the end they followed what we requested. There were no real problems. They did damage a few things but they made sure they fixed it. They tore a branch of our tree and dented our water heater. But they will be back in the spring to level everything out and finish pouring some concrete. We have to wait for the dirt to settle and the weather to cooperate. They did a pretty good job but I am not sure any company would satisfy me 100%! The backhoe was an issue to get it into small spaces. We may have more to say after the spring when they come back. It was a good price for the job completed. We liked they had a low price and they were local. They have been around a long time and they aren't going anywhere. Anything we needed was done for us. They explained things as they went along and told us to communicate to them what they needed to do for us, even long after the job is completed due to ground issues.
