+ 0 moreThe owner came, looked at the portion needing replacement measuring it and verbally telling us what he would do. He arrived on the promised day for the estimate. Several days later I received an email detailed estimate of the work to be completed. He indicated it would take 2 days to do the work. Several weeks after I agreed to the work he sent an email with the date for the construction. He arrived on the proposed date with 2 workers and proceeded to remove the old concrete and set the forms. He found a soft spot in the soil under the old concrete and dug it out filling it with gravel and tamping it down. The next day they poured and finished the concrete. Late on the second day they removed the forms and filled in where the forms were with soil they had removed. The owner and workers were extremely professional The finished driveway looks fantastic. They are real craftsmen with the concrete work. I would definitely consider contacting them for any additional work I might need.
Description of Work: The contractor removed and replaced the apron and first section of our driveway which was falling apart.

+ 0 more.I called Hugh Belt,from Premier Building Services,Inc., the roofing expert. It was hard for me to decide on a color. I asked him for his opinion. He told me and brought over 2 actual shingles for me to see them against my house. He also told me I could see other roofs that he had installed, one of them was of a different color. He asked me what I thought of that one.Hugh told me his opinion of the best color. Hugh was so helpful to me! He answered my questions about the warranty. I had a problem some years ago with a leak into my family room. After it was repaired,a membrane was installed. The roofers didn't replace it.(It would have voided the warranty anyway.) Hugh came out to my house to explain everything about it. Hugh was confident that it wasn't needed and offered to call in a week to make sure there was no leaking. He said he would take care of the problem, if it happened. the only problem was the cold weather. It needed to be in the 40's. Hugh was watching the weather reports and e-mailed me that he would be out as soon as possible Fortunately, there was a break and the roof was finished on 11/26/14. The crew was very punctual!
Description of Work: Dan Feist,( the owner of DKF), immediately came over to my house to give me an estimate for the cost of a new roof. He found out what I wanted and included everything. The job required a tear-off of my old shingles. Dan answered my questions, addressed my concerns,gave me an estimate, and the phone number of his roofing expert. Dan left me a brochure with options for roofing choices and colors.Dan called me to see if Hugh had been communicating with me. I am so pleased with Dan Feist and DKF Construction. The professionalism was great!. I give them an A+.

+ -1 moreWe did not go with them because we decided against the job. They were nice and everything but we decided to go on a different route and we did not need their service anymore. They returned our calls and they were very obliging. It was not their fault that we did not use them but their work was so backed up that they were two or three months behind in getting the work scheduled and we did not want to wait that long. That was general for everybody that we talked to which we can understand. Coming out of recession, the people wanted to upgrade. But they were all saying pretty much the same thing so they must have been pretty upfront. They were very cordial and very good. They came out and looked at it and gave me a price. It was just the time that they have gone back with a price and stuff and then their time schedule that did not work out. If we decide to go with the project, I am sure that we would contact them again.
Description of Work: We got a quote from DKF Construction maybe in July or August for putting in a stone sidewalk for us.

We scheduled the work a few months out, and aside from unavoidable weather delays that pushed the start day back a few days, it was completed promptly and on time. The new driveway looks great! Would hire again.

+ 0 moreThe entire job is first rate. These guys were hard workers. They were onsite ever day for a full day even in the rain. I'm thoroughly happy with the job they did. Some of my neighbors even commented on the quality of the work and how professional they were. .Danny Feist owns the company but works with his brother Steve, Steve was here working everyday. Danny had other jobs he was involved in but I saw him most days and he dug right in and worked alongside the other men. I got to talk with Steve a few times since he was here everday I found him to be a very nice guy and very conscientious worker. This was a big job. I expected the job to start in July but due to all the rain this summer the job got pushed back to October. Two neighbors had new driveways installed over the past two years and I'm glad I had DKF Construction do my work. Also glad I found them on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Removed the existing concrete driveway, spread and compacted dense gravel for the new driveway. Laid Welded Wire Mesh for the driveway. Poured 4500 psi. concrete 5 inches thick. Used a broom finish on the concrete & tooled the joints. The driveway was expanded from its original size of 1720 sf. to approx 2000sf. Had concrete steps coming off the side of the house where the support wall was crumbling due to movement as the soil dried or got wet. DKF removed the existing wall and poured a new footing below the frost line to prevent movement of the new support wall which they built. Also to prevent water backing up into the basement during heavy rains becaus e the downspout goes into the basement then out to the city sewer system, they diverted the downspout under the new driveway by excavating a trench and laying PVC pipe out into the sideyard. Covered the trench with soil and prepared and poured the driveway. The driveway was expanded from its original size of 1720 sf. to approx 2000sf. Sprayed the driveway with a curing and sealing compound. Also had them replace 3 steps going up to the front porch with new concrete steps and install a handrail at these steps.

+ -1 moreDan responded quickly to a voice mail I left asking for a quote to do the job. He came to my house within two hours after we talked on the phone. He gave me a reasonable price for the work and we agreed he would complete the work based on his schedule of other jobs. He called on a Sunday afternoon, and asked if he could do the work the next day. He and Jim, his helper, arrived on time, prepared the spot for the slab, which required more gravel than he originally thought, and when the truck arrived, poured the concrete and left a very nice finish on the slab. I paid him that afternoon and he returned the next day to remove the forms. He did not increase the price even though additional gravel was needed which required him to go offsite to get the gravel. All the work was done with care to the surrounding plants, trees, etc. He and his workman were pleasant and professional. I would definitely recommend Dan for any work you require and I would use him again if the need arises.

+ 0 moreThey were professional. They did an excellent job. They cleaned up their stuff. The price was very reasonable. They were extremely busy so we have to wait like two or three weeks. I didn't have a problem with that because it wasn't that critical.
Description of Work: DKF Construction poured a concrete driveway. They took the driveway all the way down to five to six inches. They weighed, re-barred and connected it to the cemented garage. Then they tailored it down.

I was able to coordinate the entire process via e-mail and have the driveway installed while my family was away on vacation for my convenience. Description of Work: Scope:-Remove existing driveway apron and 5 sidewalk blocks (approximately 260sf) and haul from site.-Excavate to a depth of 5” for sidewalk and 7” apron. -Form for new sidewalk, and apron ( approx. 260sf). -Compact sub-grade as needed.-Install #42 6x6 WWM and #4 rebar stubs into existing driveway.-Install expansion joint at street curb.-Pour and finish new 5” sidewalk and 7” apron. + 0 moreMy overall experience with this company was fantastic. Dan came our promptly to give me an estimate. His price was competitive with others. When I was told the spa came in earlier than I thought, Dan worked with me to fit the job in his schedule and had the concrete patio poured within a few days of notification that the spa was in. Also, I was told that the industry standard for concrete was 4000 psi and the other quotes I received were going with the industry standard. However, Dan went with 4500 psi. PSI is the pounds per inch is the amount of weight that the concrete can support (I had to look that up). Needless to say, Dan's price was right in line with the other estimates only with a higher psi to support the spa. The concrete patio has been up for a few weeks and still looks great. Dan and his crew showed up on time and left the backyard very clean!!

+ -1 moreHe gave me a quote which was good. It was $1125 that is very reasonable. I bet I could have done for that little amount, as it only $1125, but the weather is so unstable and he has to wait for a real good weather, before he puts the concrete. So he hasn’t done it yet. He came very day I called him. He has insurance and he was just so nice, polite and courteous. He is going to put in two hand rails, two banisters, and I hadn’t mentioned that when I was over the phone, I am forgetful. When I got there I told him I need two hand rails one on each side of the step. It is difficult to get up down when you grow older and he is going to put in two hand rails and banisters.

When they started the work, they showed up when they said they would and they finished the job within the two day period that they said it would take. Dan came out later to put down the top soil and to seed the area and to seal the driveway. The company and Dan were always professional and the guys replacing the driveway seems very knowledgable about what needed to be done. The new driveway looks great. I am very pleased with their work and would not hesitate to recommend them for any driveways, replacements or new.
