A house I inherited didn't appear to have any active leaks, but there was an area that leaked during heavy, blowing rain, and there were areas that showed evidence of past leaks. I had used this company in the past (another house) and was impressed by their service, so I brought them out to investigate this problem. They discovered that 3 of the roof power fans were ancient, and found one spot that definitely needed to be re-shingled (the one that leaked during heavy rain), but suggested they do a water test to see if any of the other spots were actually still leaking. This had to be postponed a couple times due to cold, snowy weather, but that was certainly not their fault. When they were finally able to do the water test, it was discovered that the other spots were leaking, but there were receptacles in the attic that had been placed there to catch the water, which was why I wasn't seeing any leaks. Obviously, it was a disaster waiting to happen, so I had them replace all the fans and re-shingle around them. As before, everyone I worked with was extremely courteous and kept me informed during the process.
Description of Work: Replaced old power fans and re-shingled areas of roof around these fans.

The week before Thanksgiving, our roof began leaking. I called Bone Dry to come out and give us an assessment and an estimate, and they came the next business day. The person who came out seemed very knowledgeable, spent a lot of time assessing the situation, and gave us different options of things we could do to fix the problem. Knowing that the roof was old and would need replacing in the next few years anyway, we opted to have the roof replaced. The foreman who came out when the work was being done was extremely courteous and made sure I was aware of everything that was going on. The work was to take one day, but they encountered an issue that made them slightly behind schedule. Because of this, the work continued into the next day by a few hours, which wasn't an issue for us. As they were finishing, we got the first snowfall of the season, making it hard for them to clean up the yard, as they promised to do. Even so, they stayed in contact with me while we were waiting for the snow to melt, assuring me that they would be back out as soon as they could to clean up the mess. As promised, when it warmed up, they brought a crew back out and did a wonderful job with the cleanup. Time will tell if the roof holds up, but based on their professionalism and reputation, I would highly recommend.

Bone Dry was really responisve. Since they could not do any repairs in the rain they were able to come out right away to look at the spot. Really, right away, they came in 30 minutes. They looked at where the water stain was (it was not dripping but you could see a wet stain). The determined it was coming from where the garage roof met the house. They told me the house was probably did not have house wrap on it and in order to fix it they would have to remove the siding and trim, install house wrap, tape the window, install flashing and then reput on the trim and siding. They quoted me $475. I always get a second opinion and I'm glad I did. Well, I especially wanted a second opion because we had this house built and we visited it often and it definatley had house wrap on it. So, the second roofer we called was Advantage Roofing. He was not able to come out until January because of snow being on the roof. But even with all the snow, the roof never leaked again between Nov-Jan. You can read my review of Advantage too. But, in the end we didn't have to do anything and I'm glad I got another opinion or I would have spend $475 needlessly.
Description of Work: During the rain storm over Thanksgiving weekend 2010 we had the people renting a house we own call and say water was leaking into the garage.

Response from Bone Dry Roofing & Masonry - Cincinnati
While Bone Dry appreciates the "A" grades for responsiveness and punctuality, Bone Dry is disappointed in the other grades. It appears the member did not have any work performed by any contractor simply because the leak has not returned. Bone Dry should have communicated better regarding the house wrap; even if there is house wrap, if the windows and trim are not properly flashed/taped, a wind-driven rain can get behind the house wrap. If no work was done, the same weather conditions could produce the same leak. Bone Dry believes the recommended repair would prevent the leak from reoccuring.

We have had this section of our roof repaired at least twice in 8 years. We were sure there was an issue underlying the shingles. Mike told me that it was because of the location of the roof and the shingles were not properly installed. He confirmed that with pictures once he went up on the roof. He told us that we could easily repair just the missing shingles, but could replace the entire section for peace of mind. We went with the peace of mind and repaired the entire section. They came and left no mess. And they came before another rain and snow, so our bedroom was dry! We were very pleased with their knowledge and work.
Description of Work: We had shingles that were off in a section of our roof that seems to lose shingles any time there is a wind. We asked them to replace the entire section of the roof instead of just the shingles.

We called 4 companies on Angie's list. The "biggest" in town did not have any emergency number listed or on voice mail. Of the 4 companies called, I got one immediately but due to the holiday, they did not have anyone on call. Bone Dry was the only company that responded to the emergency call number and with someone to assist. The guy was professional and immediately found the problems, took pictures for the insurance company and fixed it. Overall it was about a 30 minute call that cast $300 but worth it to keep from damaging the interior.
Description of Work: Rook repair. We had a leak due to a wind twisted 2nd story downspout, allowing water to run over the edge of the roof and into the house on the middle floor. the leak was not bad but pending heavy rain necessities a immediate fix.

Fast, courteous, professional. Arrived at 1130a. Tried to locate leak in bedroom. Bubbling on wall was not from a roof or chimney leak. Suggested a plasterer inspect. Removed 1/3 of worn roof over den, replaced with like shingles and were finished by 2pm. Would recommend to everyone.
Description of Work: Had a leak in the den and upstairs bedroom. After Bone Dry inspected they said they would try to pinpoint the leak by running the hose at different points to see where water was entering in second floor bedroom. After an hour of testing with the hose and not seeing any moisture entering the house they suggested having a plaster contractor coming to give their input. Is it moisture from bricks behind the siding? Bone dry suggested having 1/3 of the den roof replaced which should take care of the leak and make sure that no water went in under the roof edge. Their quote to replace the whole roof was 3500 less than the next bid. Mr. Keffer said if your roof is not leaking you don't have to replace it. I appreciate trying to find the problems and fix them rather than saying I just needed a whole new roof. Very professional in every way.

We noticed a water mark on the ceililng in the upstairs bathroom. I called, and they came and looked at it, and then did a quote. They were prompt to make an estimate and very prompt to complete the work. The price was very competative and service was fantastic. One item that was discussed during the estimate was missed when the work was done - when we contacted our sales rep, Jim Balog, he quickly came back himself to do the work. It was a great experience.

I had an active leak on my three story Oakley house. The leak originated from around one of the chimneys. I had a highly rated Angie's list roofer come out and tell me I needed a mason to look at the loose bricks in the chimney. I then had top rate Angie's list mason come out and describe how for he could rebuild the chimney good-as-new for $4,000 but wouldn't touch the flashing. I then had another roofer come out and tell me that they would tuck and point the chimney and replace the flashing for $2,700. I was about to go with this lower bid when I called Christian Leblanc with Bone Dry Masonry. He explained that source of my problem would not be permanently solved by rebuilding or tuck pointing the chimney. Rather, the 100 year old chimney was oversized for the job it was doing and the hot gases were condensing on the inside of the chimney and slowly rotting the chimney masonry from the inside out. He recommended that they tear down the chimney (it was not in a decorative part of the house) and install a stainless steel pipe to permanently fix this problem. Cost $2900. I really appreciated Christian's original thinking and explanation. I asked him to install another stainless steel vent in our other chimney to prevent further damage to that one. They arrived on time, cleaned up like they had never been there, and even saved me a hundred bricks from the chimney in case I needed to repair another part of the house. Total bill $3,972. So far I'm very pleased. Christian's team even repaired a hole left by a raccoon family at no extra charge. Thanks.

Bone Dry Roofing and Masonry did a great job on a roof/chimney replacement. From the first time they came out, I had a good feeling about their company. I am a new home owner, who works during the day, and Bone Dry was one of the few roofers that were willing to come out and give me a quote when I was home. Jim explained all the work that he saw needed to be done and asked if I had any specific questions as well. One area he addressed was proper venting for the attic. He recommended a ridge vent and edge vents. My home was built in 1920, lacking any type of venting so I really appreciated this recommendation as it would help cool down my upstairs rooms. All the other roofers quoted me with the simple roof louvers which would have a minimal impact. I also had requested some chimney work be looked at as well; he explained that someone from their masonry division would have to come out as well. This was the first roofer who had an actual masonry specialist review the chimneys. Christian from BDR Masonry, informed me that the chimneys were in bad shape and would not recommend tuck pointing, but to knock down and rebuild. He explained that tuck pointing would have short life, and I would be revisiting my same issues again in a few years. Every, other roofer said they could be tuck pointed, without mention of rebuilding. In the end after a couple of discussions with Christian I choose to rebuild one, and knock down the other one that was used to vent an old furnace and water heater. I now have a chimney that will last at least another 90 years, as opposed to 3-5. As I stated before my house is 90 years old and so therefore I had some wood rot in the attic framing. Bone Dry handled these issues with ease along with framing over the old torn down chimney. The day of installation went very well, the crew showed up at 8:30 in the morning and worked all day, and then for a few hours the following day, as they had to replace more decking than initially thought, and couldn?t get everything finished in one day. Shane communicated very well with me throughout the day, explaining any issues or concerns and how progress was coming. They cleaned everything up very well. Everyone one I worked with Bone Dry was great, including their office manager Connie. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to have roof work done. Out of all the roofers I received estimates from they were by far the most professional and honest roofer to work with. Thanks, again.
Description of Work: Complete tear off and re-roof, with 2-3 layers of existing of shingles. I replaced the old roof with a 30 year dimensional shingle. They added ridge and edge vents, water and ice shields in the valleys. A bathroom vent was added as well. They knocked down two chimneys from the roof line up. I had one rebuilt with existing brick, and capped and sealed. Other chimney was removed to save cost, and since it wan’t being used any longer. Framed over old chimney, and added additional framing to rotten wood in the attic. Also, reframed and re-decked areas of the roof that had been damaged throughout the years.
