Overall, an excellent experience. I met with Drew Chance for an estimate. He spent about two hours doing a very thorough inspection and discussing my options. On the day of installation, the crew arrived at the appointed time and worked steadily through the day under the supervision of Cody Moore. The crew was hard working and skillful. All work except the gutter guards was completed in one day. A separate crew arrived the next day and installed the Leaf Relief gutter guards. They also did a fine job. Both crews cleaned up the site very well. I had gotten seven bids for this work using Angie's list ratings to select the companies. Bone Dry seemed to offer the best combination of things I was looking for. They also hand -nail the shingles which was a selling point for me. All of the folks I dealt with from the company were helpful and professional. All-in-all, a successful home improvement project. I would use the company again and already have made one referral for roof repair and that job was also successful.
Description of Work: Tear off of old roofing. Complete new roof installed with use of CertainTeed Landmark Pro Max Def shingles. Replacement of most of the old wood decking. New skylight installed. New blown-in insulation added to the attic, R-15 to R-38. Old box vents removed -- new ridge vent installed. Ice and Water Shield and Leaf Relief gutter protection installed.

Loved the appraiser, Drew Chance. Very informative guy. Gave me an estimate for new gutters. The workers showed up on one of the windiest days ever. They went to work immediately and did not stop until they were finished. I had to hold onto my ceiling light on a couple of occasions in fear it might fall down. Everything was done efficiently. I paid the bill and the guys left. This work was completed before noon. The workers were very polite.
Description of Work: I had an ice dam in my gutter above the master bedroom. Discovered it while having the bedroom painted. Bone Dry fixed the roof and gutter. No one came back to inspect it. Still have not painted the ceiling. Just making sure it is dry.

Called Bone Dry Roofing, and I was able to schedule an appointment the next day. I had spare shingles on hand from the original installation, so when the serviceman came to the house, he offered to replace the missing shingles on the spot. He also resealed some of the surrounding shingles from the damaged areas. After the repair, the serviceman took a few minutes to talk to me about the type of shingles I had installed, and what to expect from a roof-life standpoint. Very professional, serviceman was in and out within 30 min. Price seemed a little high, but I was happy with the response time and to have the work completed.

Kevin was very quick, very polite, professional and personable -- and now nothing leaks. He did very nice, neat professional job. We were extremely pleased with the work and also very happy they could squeeze us in right away since water was leaking down into the drywall and we were worrying about the need for all sorts of repairs if we couldn't get this fixed quickly.

Company is responsive and came out to survey the work. The Big Deal coupon is a little different than what actually happens, but it is not worth the time to mess with it. As my house is painted brick, it would have been nice if they had used a similar style when replacing the bricks. Now the rougher style bricks stand out when there are four of them in a wall of hundreds. Attention to detail and quality is lacking.

They came out and gave an estimate to spend a bunch of money. When I called them to talk to them, they came back and did a fair amount of work for the money. I was pleased with them, but didn't like their original attitude and then they sent out someone else. They said they could take the whole stonewall apart down and I asked them why they wanted to do the whole thing. They wanted to call owner and said that he was sorry & it was not the way supposed to be. They did a good job. The time was not an issue. I don't have anything negative about them.

In selling house, some items needed attention from the house inspection. Called Bone Dry Roofing as they replaced our house shingles couple years ago. Which was an outstanding job then. I would suggest Bone Dry for roof replacement. A couple of vent pipe boots needed to be tamped down. As we spoke, I asked if they could address a cracked rafter, the chimney crown, and a couple of loose siding spots. To my surprised, they said they could do it all. They came to assess and quote and were very reasonable. Following week all work was done and it looked great. That was a real time-saver for us.

After the extreme weather we noticed a couple water stains on the kitchen ceiling. We called three roofers and Bone Dry was able to get here the soonest. The roof is about 15 yrs. old and we thought it may be time to replace. Our repairman said we have a good 5 yrs. left. We appreciated that honesty. The problem was an improper installation of the original vents by another roofer. Our repairman was knowledgeable, professional and got the job done. We have had a couple heavy rains since and we are Bone Dry. When it's time for a new roof we will be calling Bone Dry Roofing!

We had Manny come when we had a surprise leak. He went over and above to make sure our roof was fixed in the problem area and he made several repairs to potential future problems. He was great to work with and we would definitely call him again! Excellent service. Only issue was it took 2 days to get them for an estimate when we called because of high demand and then it took another few days to get the repair person. All in all we were very impressed!

My initial contact with Bone Dry was on a Sunday when we returned from a vacation to find a tree had fallen and hit the house. We needed immediate help for a temporary repair. I called 7 roofing companies, all of which list themselves as having "24 hour emergency service" - only one actually answered the phone and that was Jim from Bone Dry. Jim adjusted his weekend schedule, came to the house and installed coverage to hold us over until permanent repairs could be planned. Suggestion to all roofing company owners - if you state that you have 24 hour service, and no one answers the phone, or even calls the potential customer back, you will not win new business. If you are a company who has all the business and money you need, then so be it - but one of the reasons Bone Dry won my $24,500 contract was because of a simple $300 repair job, and answering the phone. Ultimately I gave the entire project straight As. I had multiple bids - funny though, I had to beg one of the companies to give me a proposal and they just told me they would work with my insurance company - they are also highly rated on Angie's List, but watch for this - simply saying "they'll work with insurance company" but then not giving you a written commitment is not good business - in contrast, Bone Dry showed up exactly when they said they would, including return visits to be with the insurance adjustors (on short notice, again being flexible), they submitted good written proposals when they said they would, and then worked diligently with my adjustors. My sales rep was Drew - very responsive and knowledgable. Also, my State Farm adjustor even complimented on how professional Drew was with him. Then came scheduling - and rain in the forecast. I requested a certain completion date due to family arriving from out of state and I wanted the work done before this weekend. They figured out how to adjust, beat the weather, and completed the project early - total roof replacement, repairs from tree damage, total gutter replacement, and new insulation. Terry & Cody were in charge; again very professional guys and they got the job done. To them its just another day at work - to us it was a major project and investment. I'd highly recommend Bone Dry and would gladly be a reference for them.

Tim provided the quote and was very punctual for our appointment and very professional. The quote provided was the least expensive we received but we did not go with them because he only quoted patching the stucco/skim coat and said it would likely not look very uniform. I had asked about removing the old stucco and reapplying it to the whole surface but he didn't provide pricing for that and indicated that it would be much more expensive. We received another quote for not too much more that did remove the old stucco and went with that company instead. For the brick repair and expansion joint Tim did quote a better price for the same work than the other company but I thought it would be easier just to have it all done by the same people so I didn't split the work. I will however call the company again and consider using them if I have another masonry job.

The entire process was top-notch and very professional. The two estimators came on time, spent about 45 minutes on my roof, and wrote up an estimate giving me several options for the shingles and also giving me the option of tearing off the old roof or laying on a new layer of shingles. I chose to tear off and install a new roof. Difference in cost was minimal for my 24 square roof. Roofing job was scheduled for the next week. insatllers came on time, but it was pouring rain. They waited a couple hours and then cancelled and re-scheduled the next day to install. Arrived the next day at 8:15a and were done by 1:30p. All nails, trash, etc was removed. All that was left was a beatifully installed roof. Drew, the roofing manager, came the following Monday morning (due to my schedule - otherwise, we would have met the same day) and we did a final walk around and inspection. I am very pleased with the service, workmanship and professionalism of the Bone Dry staff and roofers. Highly recommended!

Great customer service. We had snow/ice and had to re-schedule the crew to come out several times. Each time, it was a respectful call and I could tell they wanted to get the gutters up but really needed to wait until all the snow/ice melted. The guys that came out to do the installation were polite and talked to me about what I wanted and what I was looking to do with routing water on a different direction of the house. The gutters look great. After they finished, I recieved a call from the office asking how my experience was. During the call, I asked if there was any extra gutter material so we could extend one of the downspouts a little further. Instead of just blowing me off, they sent the manager out to take a look. The crew is coming back to extend the piece next week. Talk about GREAT customer service. From start to finish, everyone I met from this company was very customer service oriented and easy to work with. I definitely got my money's worth and I will look to Bone Dry to replace my roof in a couple years when I need it!

Overall, the results are good. I'd have preferred if the mortar mixed for the repair had been a slighly better match to the original however I understand it's a challenge to match mortar that is over 100 years old. Very professional, courteous and polite. I'd definitely call on them again.

I was not impressed. Bone Dry roofing was my 4th highest of 5 bids, but I went with them because they had identified hail damage on my roof (and I was greatful for that insight) and because they had a strong warranty. However, there were numerous roofing and gutter features that were installed improperly and there was damage done to wooden features of my house during the process. Bone Dry did not point any of these out to me; I had to find them all myself (all 12 of them). Even after someone from Bone Dry agreed to fix all these items, Bone Dry kept only completing a fraction of the items on my list while I was at work and indicating they were done. Mind you that I went through numbered lists with two Bone Dry foremen. Eventually, one of the foremen left me a voicemail indicating that they had done everything they were willing to do and that their contract was fulfilled. However, many of the items on the list had not been completed satisfactorily. At this point, I had to waste an entire day documenting in painstaking detail with photos all the areas that Bone Dry had failed to repair adequately. Among these photos was one showing how the flashing installed along wood by my gutter to prevent rot was actually chanelling water between the flashing and the wood. When I had not received a response two days later, I called my sales guy and asked for a different foreman. A few hours after doing this, I got a call back from one of my original foremen agreeing once again to do complete the same repairs we had talked about weeks earlier. Over a month after the start date, my one-day roof and one-day gutters were complete. Although having a roof done on one day is appealing, my experience was that I had 15 guys walking around on my roof who had trouble communicating effectively with the foreman. Although the laborers were hard working and skilled, I feel that this chaos on my roof resulted in poorer accountability and quality control. At one point, I asked the foreman whether a feature on one of my dormers had been flashed like the others and specifically whether the flashing extended beyond the fascia intersecting with the roof. My foreman had someone else translate for him to ask the guy on the roof to inspect the features. The answer I got was that the flashing was installed in the same manner that the other portions of my house were; however, when I inspected after everyone had left, I discovered that this was not the case. I don't think anyone deliberately misled me, but it was like playing telephone. I should not have been the one to find all the damage and mistakes made during the roofing and gutter installation process. That left me wondering whether other items were damaged that I did not see or inspect. What was even more frustrating was getting the foremen to fix all the items that the more senior Bone Dry foremen had agreed to fix. Getting that last 5% of the job done was like pulling teeth. After going over my list of repaired items 3 times total (once in person, once over the phone, and once via voicemail) and being told that Bone Dry was not going to do any more work, I had to go so far as generating detailed instructions for each repair complete with picture to get the job done. Some of this was the senior foreman relying on his underlings but the end result was that it wasted a lot of my time. This was probably the most stressful experience of my summer. At times, it felt like it would have been easier to fix their mistakes myself than getting them to do the work; however, out of principle, I fought until the repairs were made. I felt like I got a different company than was described in the reviews. --------------------------------- Bone Dry Response (copied from Angie?s list on 2/28/14) "Bone Dry regrets that this member feels that it was difficult to resolve his issues, but Bone Dry does not feel that the grades are fair. Bone Dry did have an area of flashing to re-work, but each time Bone Dry addressed an area of concern, the member would call back with other areas of concern, some of which did not even relate to the work we did. We ultimately had the member prepare a list and sent a team to address all issues related to the work we did, and in the end believed he was satisfied and even understood that some of his concerns were not issues related to or caused by Bone Dry." ----------------------------------My Comments Bone Dry's response is misleading. I will give the author the benefit of the doubt and assume that they did not have all the facts. Bone Dry indicates that they asked me to prepare a list. This is not true. The senior foreman left me a voice mail indicating that they had completed everything they were willing to do. At this point, I wrote a detailed email with pictures because in-person and phone communications were apparently not enough. (Please see the email I sent them below.) My list did not change significantly, as Bone Dry?s response suggests. I started with 12 items that I communicated to the foreman on his first visit after the roof was ?completed.? 2 minor items were added well before all 12 had been completed. There was one item on the list that Bone Dry claimed was unrelated to their work. Looking back at previous photos of the house, I don?t fully agree but I told them not to worry about it. The email I sent Bone Dry when all other communication attempts failed is below. I know that "Bone Dry regrets that [I] feels that it was difficult to resolve [my] issues,? but I can?t help feeling that this was much more difficult than it should have been. ?? Email Sent to Bone Dry?? Hi <SENIOR FOREMAN>, I received your voicemail indicating that you have done everything I asked you to do within reason and that you're willing to do, aside from the fence. I am confused by this when I look at the original list of 12 items you and I both went over in person a week after my new roof was installed. You may recall that we compared notes at the end of the walk-through to make sure that all the items on my list were captured in your diagram and notes. The list of items we discussed is attached. I also added the bag of shingles you told me <junior foreman> could drop off (item 13) and another item that I noticed after you visited and discussed with <junior foreman> on Wed, Aug 28th (item 14). I also went over this full 14 item list with <junior foreman> on Wed, Aug 28th over the phone, telling him the item number and the repair for each of these 14 items. Items 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9 have been completed in a satisfactory manner. Thank you very much. I don't believe item 5 was completed because the gutter guys never came back but this item is no longer a concern. That leaves: ? Items 1 and 2 - See attachment. We could perhaps do this repair with me present if you are not sure how to fix this. Water flow is tricky. ? Item 4 - Bare wood spots that you physically pointed at when you came over are still bare. ? Item 10 - See attachment - This piece of siding that was replaced will rot if it is not repaired. ? Item 11 - When you see the picture I think you'll remember me pointing to this. ? Item 12 - I can still see one of the spots I pointed out on the right side of the rightmost dormer. It's a little above the roof but this spot resulted after the roofing. I know because I inspected the paint on the house prior to the roofing since I had a limited warranty on the paint job. ? Item 13 - Easy, Just leave me the bag of shingles you promised me ? Item 14 - Easy, add a nail and paint over it. Additionally, in completing Item 9 on Friday, Sept. 6th, further damage was done to my home. I now have a hole that I previously did not. This damage is documented in the "damage_during_repair_of_item9.doc" attachment. This was NOT a dormer I was planning to have repaired but it now has a hole in it and is in need of repair. No explanation was left. I just came home and saw chunks of wood lying on the roof below the hole. And this was right after I got your voicemail indicating that you guys had done everything you planned to do. Please let me know how you will address these previously-agreed-upon repairs, as well as the damages accrued during repairs to the house. I request a final walk-through with me present once all items have been fixed. Thank you, <Member>
