They did tuckpointing on our master bedroom window that was leaking. Other providers had told us that it was the roof that was leaking, but Bone Dry confirmed it was the window, and did the tuckpointing and applied a sealer, which solved the problem. They were very nice to work with.
Description of Work: Fixed leaky window.

They were very thorough. They said that they were able to put a barrier down. The roofing looks fairly close to what we have. The matching was a little difficult because we had an older roof. They cleaned up very nicely. Everything they did was very professional so we were very happy with them. The pricing was in the ballpark. It seemed okay. I found them on Angie's List. He explained everything and he gave me a nice written estimate. When I called, setting up an appointment is easy to do. Overall, we're very pleased with the service. It was a fair price.
Description of Work: We used them for the roof repair. It's a whole section of the roof.

Company is responsive and came out to survey the work. The Big Deal coupon is a little different than what actually happens, but it is not worth the time to mess with it. As my house is painted brick, it would have been nice if they had used a similar style when replacing the bricks. Now the rougher style bricks stand out when there are four of them in a wall of hundreds. Attention to detail and quality is lacking. Left this review once, but Angie's List automated system keeps popping up asking for it again, so here it is...

Our experience with Bone Dry started with a leak in the roof. They were able to come out quickly to look at the leak - there was a vent "boot" on the roof that was leaking allowing water into the attic and into our ceiling. They came out within a week and installed a new boot and sealed the leak. At the time they came for the leak we also asked for a tear off estimate. We gathered 3 estimates - their price for the roof was in the middle - we had one higher, one lower. All companies that provided estimates had good ratings on Angies list. The reason we chose Bone Dry was because of their professionalism and customer service, and we liked the people - everyone is friendly, responsive, and attentive. After we chose them for the new roof, our salesperson came by and dropped off shingle samples, and addresses of installed roofs so we could select our color. We had a specific date we wanted the roof installed and they were able to do it on our date (we gave them a few weeks notice.) The install was done in one day and they cleaned up behind themselves. The only thing we wish we had done ahead of time is schedule the satellite company to come out to adjust the dish. The roofers reinstalled the dish, but it was slightly off and we had some reception problems, not unexpected with a roof replacement. We have had great experiences with Bone Dry and would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Bone Dry installed a new roof on our 2100 sq ft ranch home, replaced existing vents, and added 3 more to improve ventilation.

Pat came out for our estimate. He was very kind and professional. Of the 8 estimates that we received, Pat was the only one who treated me like a person and not a sale. He explained everything to me in a way that made sense. He presented all the options in a way that was informative but not pushy. We were able to choose what we NEEDED not what would bring the biggest sale. We chose to have our roof replaced and to have new gutters put on. Our supplies were delivered the day prior to the roof being installed. It was two pallets of materials that took up a small amount of space in our driveway. No big deal. Cody and his team came the following day. From the moment he showed up to our house he was professional and very informative about what they would be doing, the process, and how long he expected the project to take. They put tarps over all of my flower beds and moved all of my patio furniture out of the way. They had my old roof off in about 2 hours and Cody walked me around the house and showed me where they would need to replace some of the wood and how progress was going so far. They started the wood work and when they ran into a small issue Cody alerted me and told me how they were going to fix it. The new roof went on without any issues. When the project was completed Cody walked me around the entire house and showed me how it looked. I came out several times during the project to check on things and each time Cody was immediately informing me of what was going on and how things were going. I never once had to ask. The crew cleaned up their mess extremely well. The roofing crew was phenomenal! They were at our house from 9am to about 5:30pm. The next day, the gutters were installed. The crew consisted of two men. They arrived at 12pm and stayed until 6pm. They were kind and professional. The gutters look great. To be fair, we did have a minor issue involving the gutter installers. When they completed their work, they simply got in the truck and left. I walked around my house checking the work they had done and it looked really great. When I got to the front of my house, they had not replaced my patio furniture or planters and they also did some minor damage to my gardens. The damage included breaking some of our edging around the garden and smashing a few of our plants. The damage was enough that they should have noticed it and addressed it prior to leaving my home. I waited until I received the invoice in the mail for the gutters before calling the office in case the damage was addressed on the invoice. When I noticed that it was not addressed, I called the office and spoke to Brenda. She was very quick to apologize and allow us to determine the cost of the damage and subtract that from our balance. I think that it is important to note that I did ASK for monetary compensation. I simply wanted Bone Dry Roofing to be aware of the issue since the gutter installers were doing business on their behalf. Brenda offered to make an adjustment on the balance due. I cannot fault Bond Dry for the very minor damage caused by the installers. Bone Dry was extremely helpful in rectifying the problem and making sure that I was satisfied. I would use Bone Dry roofing again and recommend them to others looking for a company that is amazing.

My husband was the one that priced them and I don’t know what any other estimates were but he gets more than one estimate so I guess their price was reasonable or he wouldn’t have gone with them. We are waiting on the rain to find out the quality of the work, it looks good from here but since the waterproofing, it hasn’t rained. They were very professional. The people were good. We were actually out of town and it was done while we were gone.

Pros: Quality of final product Cons: Communication (internal to company and external with customer) and logistics Bottom line: The quality of the final product is good, but the process to get there was not one I would like to repeat. Bone Dry continues to receive high Angie?s list ratings, so it is possible our bad experience is an isolated one, although that is hard to imagine given the many instances of poor communication on just one job. Details: Our roof is a combination of shingled gable roof and rubber membrane flat roof with about equal areas of each. The flat roof slopes toward the center-line of the house, which complicates water drainage. Bone Dry offered the best approaches to problem areas, were the lowest of 3 quotes, had a high Angie?s list rating, and one of our neighbors recommended them. The salesman represented the company well and was knowledgeable of product options. In the weeks after providing the quote, he followed up to see if we had any questions. The other 2 vendors had to visit the house twice with different estimators because the first estimator they sent was not experienced with flat roof quotations (even though they had been told about the flat roof). Soon after signing the contract, we were contacted by the production manager to schedule the work. They had an opening for work to start within 48 hours, on Friday June 27. Despite some concern because the salesman had said they would drop supplies the night before, the production manager assured me they would be able to bring the supplies the morning the job started and, more importantly, that all of the roof work would be completed Friday. The gutter and trim work would be done the following week. In hindsight, I should not have let them start on a Friday and they should not have tried to shoe horn it in given the complexity of the roof. At first, the work seemed to go well. The crew leaders for the shingle roof and flat roof (separate crew leaders) both contacted me to go over the work and the shingle roof tear off and reshingle seemed to be on schedule. Apparently there were some material shortage issues on the flat roof ? not enough rubber membrane material and adhesive ? that caused several delays. As the day progressed, it became clear that the flat roof would not be finished by nightfall and a blue tarp went up over the chimney. Fortunately, a thunderstorm missed us that night. We were told by one of the crew leaders that the production manager would be at our house Saturday morning to check on the job and that a crew would finish the flat roof Saturday. This is where communication seemed to break down. The production manager did not show up and only 3 workers arrived. The flat roof was not finished Saturday. A thunderstorm Saturday night led to water running down the wall of our carport closet and then water leaked into our basement (unfinished, so no damage). Not knowing what work had been completed on the roof, I did not know where else water was leaking. After several calls that night, it became clear that the production manager was not aware that he was supposed to be on the job site Saturday. He came out Sunday morning to try to fix the leak. Fortunately, he discovered that the water leak was at the connection between the flat roof drain and our downspout ? just inside the carport closet, so water was not getting into the walls of the home etc. as I had feared, just running into our carport and some into our basement. (Unfortunately, that downspout connection leak took several attempts over several weeks to fix ? finally resolved on July 21.) The crew was back out on the next Monday and finished the flat roof. And other crews installed new gutters, gutter cover, and did wood replacement. The gable trim on one end was covered in aluminum siding, but not the other end as was supposed to be done too. After the first day, all communication was initiated by me. No one called to say, ?we are going to be at your house on date XX to do YY? or ?we were at your house today and finished YY? or ?we are done with your house, please call to schedule your final walkaround?. As a result, we did not know if they knew they had work remaining or not. This happened more than once. Additional questions How much did the final cost compare to the original estimate? Slightly higher due to wood repair How does the value of the work compare to the price? If there had been no hassles, this would have been a reasonable value. Considering the amount of time I had to commit to resolving issues, I?d have to say the value was less than the price paid. How far in advance did you schedule the work? 1-2 days after approving quote Did you find the company through Angie's List? First learned of them when a neighbor hired them and liked their work Why did you choose this contractor? Based on Angie?s list rating, neighbor experience, reasonable quote (both price and approach), experience with salesperson Have you used this company before? no What did you like most about this contractor? Upfront representation and quality of finished product What did you like least about this contractor? Lack of communication as job progressed and they did not finish roof in the time they first claimed What surprises came up during the course of the work? Too many to list. Material shortages on job site for flat roof caused them to not finish roof in the one day they said, did not finish on second day either due to poor internal communication, leak in roof drain connection to downspout took weeks to resolve and resolution was originally considered a ?courtesy? to customer, customer was sent invoices even though the job had not been finished (another internal communication problem). What words of advice would you give other members considering this contractor? If straightforward job, they should be fine, but be careful if the job involves communication between different parts of company. What words of advice would you give this contractor? Fix internal communication problems and improve communication with customer after the quote has been signed. The customer should not get an invoice until someone actually confirms with the customer that work has been completed. Workers should not complain or put down other parts of the company to the customer (installers vs. sales) or say ?I don?t have that contract? when asked about another part of the job ? the customer does not care that their ?Bone Dry? job involves several divisions of the company and neither should the company reps on-site. You represent ?Bone Dry?. If a question involves another division, refer the customer to the right person or call in that person. One advantage of hiring a larger company is they can provide many services. The disadvantage is that this requires solid logistics and communication, and Bone Dry did not perform well in these areas on this job.

Response from Bone Dry Roofing & Masonry - Cincinnati
This is a fair review by the member. This was a complex job, and Bone Dry did not do a good job of communicating between the various divisions involved, which in turn led to poor communication with the member. We are happy that he is pleased with the final product, and we are working on implementing procedures to improve our communications on complex projects.

The project started Oct 2013 and finished July 2014. There were 3 revisions. A type of epoxy glue was used and within a wk some of the bricks were loose. Then they were reglued. We had further problems with loosening. Then they started from scratch and rebuilt it with mortar. The surfaces were uneven so they redid it yet again. This time they used some poor quality gray bricks and mixed them in with our red bricks. Surfaces were better but still not flush. Each time we called about our concerns the company was timely in sending out someone to examine the work. But each time we were dealing with a different individual. The company did credit us $100 on our last bill. I would say this company is very professional, courteous and good with cleanup. I chose them from all the great reviews on Angies List. In my experience, the workmanship on this single project was poor. Along with my last check I did enclose a letter telling them what I would be writing in this review.

I was worried we had worse roof damage than what I could see, so we contacted Bone Dry based on Angie's List reviews. It ended up being the most minimal job, and so they fit us into the schedule as soon as they were able. I received a call the morning they were coming. I needed to pick up my kids from preschool, so I left for about a half hour. By the time I returned I had a "Bone Dry" sign in my front yard, and the work was completed. I feel as though it was more than reasonable, and I will use these guys again.

The company was outstanding. they did a fantastic job. i would recommend them to everyone. they were completely honest. another company came through the neighborhood last year and said we have wind damage. we called bone dry to come verify and they stated there was none. But you do have issues with your roof (it was wearing faster than should and they were very helpful working with us to get the warranty on the original roof) a year later we did have wind damage and they came out to inspect and agreed and repaired the roof.

I am a big believer in the reviews and they had very good reviews. It was almost 100% of the reviews were good. If not 100%, it was pretty close to it and that’s what drives my decisions. They were also in Westchester which is where I personally live and I had a fancy to lean to them for that reason as well. They have been around for years but I think they have been around for decades. I believe that they warranty their work. As a matter of fact, I did call them back on something and they came back out and as it turned out, it was not a problem with the workmanship or anything like that. They were gracious about that. If you do have an issue and you do call them back, they will come out to try to understand the problem and try to resolve it. I crossed path with a lot of vendors and contractors and all of them are almost terrible but they are an exception. They were a little pricy but I kind of expected that.

They were very professional. We were quite happy with them and with the services they quoted for us. They were however, on the higher end of the pricing for our quotes. Not that this is a bad thing - we are believers in you get what you pay for. The quality of their service is what led us to call them for a quotation in the first place. Shortly after the quote was completed we had to halt this project due to another surprise popping up. We will call them back again when the time is right for us to replace our gutters.

They were quick to come out to the house even though it is a busy time of year for the roofing business. They seemed to know exactly what was causing the leak, and about the repairs, one man came out for the roof and another for the siding. They have high quality products. I ended up going with another company that my insurance recommended because of their lower price.

I met with Drew Chance on behalf of my sister. He did a thorough inspection and went over the repairs needed. I had dealt with Drew the previous month regarding my house. He does a fine job. A three man crew performed all of the repairs and did fine work on what is a very steep roof. All debris was totally cleaned up. The crew members worked steadily and knew what they were doing. My sister and I are pleased with the results.
Description of Work: Roof repair on my sister's 90 year old house and detached garage. The chimney was completely re-flashed. Many shingles that had popped up were re-fastened. The very tall chimney was waterproofed. Drip apron pieces were installed.
