First of all when I called Jason was out the next day very friendlygave me a quote to just take out the old skylight I said ok when they were ready to come out the day before I got a call telling me when they would be here, the next morning, they called said they were on the way. When Manny and his helper got here they were also very friendly and professional, they started to work right a way, they had to blow the snow off my roof, it was only 24 degrees, wind chill of 15, I told them they could wait, but, Manny said they could do it, so they got the old skylight off , I changed my mind and wanted a new skylight, they said they could do it then, which they did, and am very pleased with the out come,It looks great, JOB WELL DONE!!!! I would highly recommend this company,

In short, Bone Dry cannot be trusted on this type of work--not to do it properly and not to fix it when they screw it up. They not only didn't do the work that they were supposed to do, the appearance of the work they did do is terrible and they messed up other areas as well. They screwed up the work, broke repeated promises to make it right, failed to communicate their intentions, and then snuck off with the materials I had stored for two months without a word, leading me to believe that's the only reason they returned. Do yourselves a favor--find a contractor who will stand behind their work at all times, not just when it's convenient and doesn't cost them much. Here is the full, sad story: On July 30, 2015, I received a written proposal from Steven Riehle of Bone Dry to remove the existing caulk around the windows and other exterior areas of our screened in porch and install new silicone caulk to match the color, and to inspect 16 other windows around the house and reseal them with silicone caulk where needed, as well as the front and rear entry doors. On August 18, Steve arrived with an older gentleman who was to do the work. Steve left and I went into the house to do some work of my own. When I came out to inspect what he'd done, he was attempting to use a dry rag to remove a large handprint outlined in silicone caulk from the siding on my house. Apparently, he had lost his balance on the step ladder and used the house to keep from falling; better that than falling, but he had no cleaning solutions that would remove the caulk, and left me with that handprint on the siding. He then took me around to inspect the rest of his work--I found that he had NOT removed the old caulk on the porch and had attempted to caulk over it. The caulk line, which had been a neat 1/4" in width was now over 3/4" wide and ragged in many places, as he had used a dry finger to attempt to smooth it. In some places, you could see the old caulk. There was silicone spatter on some of the screens and siding as well. He had used my grill cover (while on the grill) to put his caulk gun and rags, leaving caulk residue on the cover. In short, a 10 year old could have done a better job. He left, and I called Steve, who came back in a few days and agreed that it was terrible and he told me that Bone Dry would make it right by replacing the J-Channel, facing, etc and caulking it properly. On Sept 16, he returned with new aluminum coil, J-Channels, caulking and other materials. The team that was to do the work came a bit later. They looked around--and told Steve that he had underestimated the time and difficulty of doing the work. They left; Steve told me that Bone Dry had an expert "traveling" team of professional siding people and promised me that he'd get them to do the work. He left the materials with me. I didn't hear from him for several weeks, got no answer to my calls, and finally called the main line. I was connected with Jason; he told me that he was the new general manager and that both the old general manager and Steve had been let go. After I explained the situation, he too promised to make it right and that he would send "Manny" out on Oct 9th; Manny came--and he left. Too much for him too apparently, as he told me the fix was beyond his capabilities. I kept calling--eventually "Scott" contacted me and we arranged for him and a team of professionals to do the work on November 18, 2015. They came, and I showed them the area and brought out the materials that Steve had left with me way back in Sept. It looked like everything would be ok and I was pretty happy. I left--and my wife called me 90 minutes later to tell me that she had come home and found that no one was there. They had left without doing a thing, and they took all the materials with them. No phone call, no explanation, nothing. I finally got hold of Scott that afternoon after we'd missed each other several times (I initiated the calls). He said that the work to fix what they had done wrong would take a lot longer than anticipated and that he'd need the approval of the general manager to do anything. It's been 2 months since then--not a word. It's been 5 months since all this started--enough! Early in the process, with all the reassurances I had gotten from various people in Bone Dry, I had actually recommended them to others I knew needing work of various kinds as a company that stands behind their work--I made sure to go back to each one of them and tell them what had happened. I encourage you to be very, very careful with this company--I'd suggest going elsewhere.
Description of Work: They were supposed to remove the existing caulk around the windows and other exterior areas of our screened in porch and install new silicone caulk to match the color, and to inspect 16 other windows around the house and reseal them with silicone caulk where needed, as well as the front and rear entry doors.

The roof repair was completed on day of schedule by a couple of people and as of today (7 weeks later) I would have to conclude that the repairs were completed to my satisfaction because as best I can see I'm not aware of any issues. However during the course of the day during the repair there was damage done to my light fixtures and my tree that I noticed and I followed up with a phone call and made them aware of this in order to find out how they were going to resolve the damage they done and was told by the receptionist/customer service (I believe her name is Brenda and she was great) that someone would come out and assess the damage. They sent out Scott who quickly downplayed the situation and attempted to marginalize me and also said he spoke with the repair people before arriving and they indicated they done no damage. Bottom line is Scott left without taking my concerns seriously and there was no resolution. I called back again and they sent Stephen out who clearly acknowledged the damage and even said the repair people admitted to breaking some things. Stephen resolved everything to my satisfaction and made things whole again. What I can't figure out is why Scott would treat a customer so poorly knowing that Bone Dry Roofing is a member of Angie's List.

Initially we didn't care for the salesman who came to the house. We then contacted the General Manager who sent out another person. He understood the situation and promised to get the work done by the last week of Dec . He called the very next day to say they could do the job that week. They came and did the replacement. All staff we had contact with, after the first one were wonderfully professional, explained what they'd be doing and did it. We would definitely recommend them and use them if we ever need that type of service again.

Great experience with Bone Dry. I had contacted them a year ago to get an estimate for putting a new roof on a rental property but I decided to wait. They weren't the cheapest estimate at that time but weren't the most expensive either. I felt the best about their services and professionalism during that estimate visit. Their prices went up a bit this year due to a change in materials. They now carry Owens Corning products, which is a better product, but more expensive. I ended up getting a 50 year roof warranty with them which I am very pleased with. All parts of this process went smoothly. It involved meeting with Steve who walked me through what would happen, scheduling with Scott, interacting with the office via email and then closing out and doing the final walk-around with Cody. Everyone was on the same page with everyone else. They made it easy because I'm busy and don't have time for a lot of nonsense, extra calls, etc. They were flexible with scheduling and the work was completed very quickly, in less than day. Cody explained everything they did (since I wasn't present for the work) and that they had to replace a lot of the wood, but they didn't charge me for that even though they could have. They left an extra bundle of shingles in case any need repairing. Overall, very pleased with the process and their work. I highly recommend them.

Had Bone Dry replace old roof on our home. Process began with Patrick coming and doing an estimate, as well as taking the time to explain the process. Prices were right on par with 2 other services, but appreciated the professionalism Bone Dry provided. We were slightly delayed on the start due to weather, but Bone Dry was able to reschedule and everything worked out. So far, so good with the new roof and would be glad to work with Bone Dry again.

Terrible experience. The work does not look like it was done by a professional. Communication after signing contract was lacking. They ended up reducing the price due to the poor experience, however I would have rather paid more and not had the headache of a one-two day job spanning almost a month to finally agree that we would live with it. Cigarette butts left in yard and didn't clean up entirely after they were done with the job (multiple days). We had to pick up pieces of metal and nails from the yard.

Bone Dry was called in the middle of February since I figured they might offer some sort of discount for it being early in the season. They did, it was 5% off if you signed a contract by the end of February. Since this was my daughter's house, I asked if I had my roof done about the same time if there would be any further discounts. There was, another 2%. I then schedule to have estimates done at both my house and my daughter's. Pat Hesselbrock came out to do the estimates at both place. He was early for both appointments. Pat went right to work explaining how the work would be done, that they hand nailed all their shingles, took measurements and presented me with printed estimates. My daughter and I agreed to have the work done and it was scheduled within days. On March 13 the crew arrived and went right to work. I don't recall any of the workers standing around doing nothing, everyone had an job and did it well. Shrubbery was covered and plywood propped up against the house to protect the bricks and windows. By early afternoon the job was finished. The grass was raked and roller magnet drawn over the areas to pick up any stray nail or metal. On March 16 the gutters, downspouts and gutter protection was installed. Only took about 2 hours. Same care taken to insure a great job.

I knew that I would need a whole new roof since I had some leaks around my chimney and it would be more economical to replace the entire roof at that time. I called Bone Dry in the middle of February because I figured they would be looking for work to start the new year. I called and scheduled a time for the sales representative (Pat Hesselbrock) to come out and give me an estimate. He arrived a little early for the appointment and he explained all the details involved in the work. He went right to work and took the required measurements and gave me a printed out estimate for the work. He also explained that if I signed up for the work by February 28, they would give me a 5% discount. I was pleased with the estimate and asked if there would be any further discounts if I got my daughter to do her roof as well. There was a further discount of 2% if she signed at the same time. My daughter and I agreed to the bids we received. My home was first since it was the larger of the two. The crew came out at 8:30 the morning of March 12 and finished the roof that day. I was pleasantly surprised how well the crew worked together. Everyone knew their job and did it well. Attic was entered through the roof to put in the extra insulation and baffles. Shrubbery was covered with tarps and plywood sheets placed against the house to prevent damage to the siding. All shingles were hand nailed (less chance of having the nail punch all the way through the shingles). Care was taken to make sure that the flashing around the chimney and stand pipes were just right. At 3:30 the roof was finished and they combed through the grass with rakes and a roller magnet to pick up any nails or metal. The next day, the gutters and gutter protection was installed. Another great job, it only took 2 and a half hours. I did have to have them come back to correct a water problem over my front door. Since my house is L-shaped with the garage coming off at right angles to the house, there is a valley between the two roofs over the front door. They installed gutter protection that could handle the higher water flow. That corrected the problem. It only took the two days to come out to correct the problem.
Description of Work: Tore off old roof, replaced with new. Added new 6" wide gutters, downspouts, and Gutter Glove gutter protection. Added insulation over house section and put in new insulation over garage area.

I hired this company after reading multiple reviews on Angie's List. The initial question was if my roof needed to be replaced or had any storm damage, as I am trying to get my house appraised. The technician indicated that the roof was in good shape and offered to fix the nail pops and gutter issues. A secondary roof over a shed was to be replaced. After the initial scheduling, the technician changed the time of service many times stating that the typical service provider was unable to complete the project. When he finally stated he would do the work himself, he stated the job was going to be more expensive that he had initially indicated. Several hours later he called me back and stated he would "cut me a deal" and do the job for the original price. Over the next 4 weeks, he would build a (very small) roof over a shed attached to my garage. When I came home from work I realized he had not replaced the roof as discussed, but instead built an additional roof on top of the previous leaking roof. When I addressed this with him, he promised to "see what he could do" and I didn't hear from him for several more weeks. During this time, the roof over the shed is only about 3/4 finished, the gutters are off and debris is laying around the yard. Multiple reminders were met with assurances that it would be completed soon. He finally completed the roof over the shed, not to my satisfaction, but by this point, I was so tired of chasing this guy down that I just wanted to job done! Again, he left A LOT of debris around the yard, and I ended up stepping on a rusty nail that was left, necessitating a tetanus update at an urgent care at 10pm on a weeknight at my own expense. And the job still isn't done!! Many weeks pass and I cannot get ahold of the technician. I finally get a call from someone else at Bone Dry stating that technician has been let go and he is trying to finish his jobs. I tell him about the nail pops and gutters and he assures me it will be done soon. They are true to their word and finish the job later that week however would not have remembered to do the gutters, again, unless I had arrived home during their work. Again, debris was left around the house (gutters were cleaned and dumped onto the yard). I was told nothing could be done about the shed roof on roof situation without more cost to me. I am relieved to get this job finally done, even as I have not received any official documentation of the original question - is my roof in good shape? Within 2 weeks, I received multiple calls from Bone Dry regarding my bill. The majority of this time I was out of the country and unable to access my voicemails or return non-urgent calls. Today received a call that my bill would go to collections and a lien would be placed unless I paid immediately. The work completed by this company was unprofessionally done, more hassle then it was worth, and did not even achieve my original goal. It appears they can be timely when it comes to getting paid, but not when it comes to getting the work done. I will not recommend this company.

Response from Bone Dry Roofing & Masonry - Cincinnati
Bone Dry apologizes for the member's experience. Bone Dry was unaware of the issues with the original technician while the job was being dragged out and did not become aware until the technician was let go. Thereafter, we felt we promptly finished the project. Bone Dry was unaware that the member was out of the country and did not mention a lien until account was 45 days past due from the date the job was completed. Bone Dry does not mean to be nasty or aggressive, but Ohio law requires contractors to file liens within 60 days of the work being completed or lose their right to do so. Again, we did not know why the member was not responding to our calls.

Bone Dry Roofing put a new roof on our home 4 years ago. Two days ago I noticed a shingle that had come loose and dropped down. I called Bone Dry. They sent Scott (a production manager) out to fix it the next day!! Bone Dry did a great job 4 years ago. We live about 30 miles from their office, and they did not have a job in our area right now, but they came anyway. Who could ask for better service?

They did not perform the work themselves, they subcontract it out. The worked looks good, but it took many many phone calls to get someone back out to truly fix it and that took until Spring. The tuck pointing also took some time to get completely correctly. The masonry color isn't an exactly match to what was already in place. The siding went fine.

Upon closer inspection on the day the installation was to occur, the company determined that no work was needed; there was already adequate ventilation for the roof. The company rep was very knowledgeable and explained how the home inspector could have come to his conclusion. The company could have easily done the unnecessary work and I would never have known. They were honest and didn't charge me a dime. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them in the future.
