I was purchasing a house whose owner was a former contractor--so he had connections in the trades. After our thorough home inspections, several major issues arose that needed immediate attention and were conditional upon our purchase of the house--a new heat pump system, two electrical service breaker panels, GFIs, and loose outlets, leaking skylight, and a chimney that did not meet code. We tried to get different vendors into the home to provide estimates for the work needed. The homeowner started refusing to have the trades people enter and went and "secured" his own bids for the work--not taking into consideration any of our wants towards brands, sizes, details, etc. Bob Long, the owner of Long Electric provided a bid to replace a 100 amp and a 200 amp breaker panel service for $1250. Even my realtor said there was no way he could do the work for that amount because she was thoroughly familiar with construction and average costs for replacing both sizes of these boxes. As we had to accept this bid as part of the closing and use the amount to determine what the seller was going to pay toward the repairs of the above mentioned items, this bid threw the amount way lower than it actually cost, This allowed the seller (buddy with Bob Long) to contribute a lower amount--fully knowing that we were going to have to pay more than our half agreed upon. I called Long Electric four times over the course of a week to try to get the work scheduled. Every time I was told "We'll call you back" or "You'll have to talk to the electrician." Finally, I called and insisted to be put on the schedule for the work as per the bid/estimate. The receptionist wouldn't do it and I finally asked to speak to the "boss." (Apparently the word had been spread not to schedule this address/bid). After a lengthy discussion with Bob Long explaining that I had been calling and trying to get scheduled, and listening to his excuses; I flat out asked him if he intended to honor the bid he gave for the work at my address. "We're really busy right now and I have calls on other lines waiting on me." And he hung UP!!!!! My mother was in the room during our discussion which was on speaker phone and heard the entire exchange. If he is willing to dishonestly help out a "friend" then there is no telling what he may do when dealing with people he has no affiliation with. I would not give this business the time of day. Don't bother with Long Electric.
Description of Work: Provided an estimate at a ridiculously low price that he never intended to honor.

They did a great job. They were courteous and well organized. They delivered on time and got the work done within the time they said they would do it despite the fact that we had some bad weather going on. Their price was the best going. I would use them again.
Description of Work: I used Long Electric to replace an outside electric box behind the house where the electric comes in.

I requested quotes from 3 companies; Mr. Long was the only one to visit, review the building and discuss the project with me (the others only took information via the phone). While I had ideas of what I wanted he suggested alternatives with regard to safety and fixtures; which added some cost but improved the outcome. His crew arrived with all required equipment on the date scheduled and completed the job quicker than I expected. When they had gone I checked the barn very thoroughly for any nails, screws or small pieces of wire which could be very costly in a horses foot or digestive system. The area was completely clean. The men were clean, polite and personable. Over the years I have hired several contractors and I must say this was my best experience. We have plans to build an indoor arena with additional stalls, Long Electric will do the work. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any electrical need someone would have.
Description of Work: I hired Long Electric to remove the existing service, rewire and plan and install a complete lighting system in a 10 stall horse barn.
