The job seemed to go well until Mr. Cuesta started saying things to my wife out of nowhere such as "that he gave me a real great price" for the job. Note: I am handicapped and cannot access the second story of the home until handrails are replaced. Therefore I relied on my wife to check on him and his work. I even tried saving him some money by allowing him to paint some rooms the same color because he mentioned it would cost him extra material to paint each room a separate color "as he had promised to do". I tried to be understanding and cooperative with him. I became concerned when my wife told me that he began painting ceilings in two small rooms he was not contracted to work on. I called him and he said that we could work out a price if I wanted them painted. Otherwise the ceilings were not to be charged to me. He kept saying I would be getting that work for "free". I didn't want his work for "free" so I asked for a price for the additional labor and material. We agreed on a total for the additional labor and material of $125.00. I ok'd the additional work to be added to the original quote of $625.00 and thought everything was settled. To my surprise, he finished the job and presented me with a bill for a price greater than the $750.00 I agreed to pay. He started whining again about not charging for touching up wall defects which he said he would do for no added charges. I settled the matter by paying him an additional $50.00 just to be rid of him. To me it doesn't matter how good the job was done if the contractor cannot honor the deal he made. I will not hire him again, I will not refer him to others, and I may not hire other contractors with whom he associates and recommends as they may try to pull the same stunt. He made what started out as a good experience into something unpleasant.
Description of Work: painted second story rooms, touched up defects as found, used tarps as needed and cleaned up after himself
