First Choice Asphalt Sealing

Within 24 hours of purchase, a representative from First Choice Asphalt Sealing called me to let me know they would be in my area in the next 24 hours, and wanted to schedule the application. He reminded me of the stipulations of the 600 sq feet of coverage they provided with the cost of the service sold. They arrived at the agreed time window, edged the driveway with their machine, applied the crack sealer (up to linear feet included in the price), sealed the driveway, and put a barrier across the end of the blacktop. The coating is walk-able within six hours, and requires 48 hours to fully cure. The folks I spoke with setting up the service, and the on-site gents were great.

Good. I can see some brush strokes, but they did a superb job compared to what I could do.

Two gentlemen arrived on time they advised me that there would be an additional charge due to the size of the driveway. The coupon was $99 and they charge the extra 49. I didn't realize it was especially long but it was fine (the previous time I used them was at a previous home so this was a different driveway.) They completed the work in a timely and professional manor. it seemed to me that maybe it could have benefited from a second coat but they said it was how it should be.

The deal worked out pretty good. They did what they said they would do. They were on time.

Made an appointment to have my driveway sealcoated on Monday. I received a call from Duane on Thursday morning same week. He said they would be in my neighborhood and could stop that morning. Crew was at my house within 2 hours. They cleaned and edged my driveway before beginning sealcoating. Since they only applied one coat the finished driveway looked good.

Perfect!! I cannot say one bad thing about them! I would definitely use them again!!

I received an estimate on my front door of $364 for the seal, about what I had expected for the size of the driveway, with an additional $350 for crack fill. The owner called to say he would be able to do the job within the next couple days and to call him to let him know. When I didn't call back, he called and left a message saying it could be done Tuesday of the following week. Later he called to confirm Tuesday, and I told him we hadn't agreed to have the job done yet, that I was in the process of getting another estimate. He proceeded to tell me what an honest, dependable and responsive company they are. I later called to set up the work. We scheduled the work Thursday 8/11. They arrived after lunch and prepped the driveway (sweeping, edging) but decided it looked too much like rain so arranged to come back the next day to do the work. They came the next day and patched and sealed the driveway. However, they were not finished when I was to leave for a lunch appointment so I said I would mail the check when we got back. Oh, no, they had to have it right away, though the estimate they had left said to please send payment within 5 days. Pointing that out made no difference; they even called the boss, who also insisted on immediate payment. Rather than pre-pay and not know that the job had been finished, I had to miss my appointment. That afternoon it rained hard and the next day it was evident that the coating had washed away. When I called to let them know, the owner said they needed to re-do the job, reminding me that they stand behind their work and have hundreds of great reviews on Angie's List. After the second attempt, the coating dried before it rained again but there were two large chunks out of the driveway and the small cracks were not sealed, nor some of the larger ones. When I called again, the workers came back out and told my husband and me that no one seals "spider web" cracks and they had done a lot of hot seal crack filling. They called the owner who said the same thing ("alligator cracks"). I said the agreement called for sealing the small cracks and we had almost doubled the cost to seal the larger cracks. The worker argued with me and the same as told me I needed to be satisfied with what work had been done. When I protested that the agreement hadn't been honored, he told me that I could take it to court if I wanted to and gave me their lawyer's name. A bit later, the owner called and reiterated that no one could fill the cracks in our driveway and to make it look better it needed to be topped or replaced. I explained to him that we had considered both of those possibilities but chose to have his company seal the driveway because the offer said the cracks would be filled. He then assured me that in his many years in business we were not the only customers who had been dissatisfied and gotten a lawyer, and he proceeded to give me the name of a different lawyer, the one who deals with dissatisfied customers like us. He also said the workers were wrong to leave the holes in the driveway and would be back out to patch them, which they did. The following week, after a cool night, our grandson started to leave for work at 5:30 a.m. He heard a thumping under the car. Upon inspection he discovered that one of the deep hot seals had pulled out and stuck to his tire. Less than a week later, the same thing happened to me from a different spot.

Communication was okay, but bizarre purchasing it online and waiting for a call to come and schedule the service to be done. The work was completed fast but there seems to be more cracks in the top layer than where there before.

I set up three days as options to have the work done and they have never contacted me.

First Choice did an excellent job. Trimmed edges of driveway, filled several cracks and applied one coat of sealer. End result looked fantastic, we had a garage sale a couple of weeks later and had several folks comment on how nice it looked. Highly recommended!

Excellent. After an annoying and disappointing experience with Ameriseal (they never provided an estimate after repeated calls) I found First Choice on Angie's list. Duane (the owner) was VERY responsive, informative and provided a very fair estimate of the cost of the work. As the agreed upon date approached, he kept us very well informed on their schedule and the weather - which impacts when the can and can't seal a driveway. A week before the agreed upon date, we called Duane to see if he could move it up a few days to help fit into our schedule. He did, keeping us informed both the night before and the morning of the work. They arrived with 20 minutes of the time he said and did an excellent job - no splatters -no sealant where it should not be and well applied where it should be, including the sides of the driveway. The price was more than fair. We were more than pleased with him and his work and will be calling him again next year when we need to apply another coat.

Fine, they are easy to reach, work with and reliable. Work went fine with no sign of missed spots or splashes. We will be using them again

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. I was asked the preferred date for them to come out and seal my driveway, I told them either the 22nd, 23rd or 24th of June. I heard nothing from them until they showed up unannounced on the 27th Then they told my wife that to do the entire driveway we would have to pay them an additional $134.82 in either cash or a check made out to this gentleman or money order. EXCUSE ME, DO I HAVE STUPID WRITTEN ON MY FOREHEAD!! I'm a small business owner and I would NEVER ask for such a thing. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, NO COMMUNICATION AND RIP-OFFS. NEED I SAY MORE - DON'T THINK ABOUT USING THIS COMPANY!!

It was fine. There was no additional cost. For price, I can't compare them. I don't recall because it was a year ago.

I compared them and their quote was high. We wanted a cheaper quote.

Very meticulous, explained all details to me. Completed the job efficiently. Driveway looks great!

This company never did the work they promised to perform and did not even return my phone calls nor refund my money. I contacted Angies list for it too. We eventually had to find a different company to do the job for me. I had to pay again! I could not believe Angies List allowed this company to be on its list!

as we do not live in the country fulltime and i placed the order in the winter when the work could not be done because of the weather, i had concerns as to the reliability but i was delighted when i returned to usa to find the drive completed. i was very pleased, not only with th quality of the service but the honesty of the proprietor. i have not hesitation in recommending this company.

In the end, it turned out okay. But I had a lot of difficulty getting them to come out and do it. I would arrange for them to come out a certain day and they would come a different day. Then they got mad because we said we couldn't do it. I said, "Well, you didn't come the day you were supposed to come." So finally, after all that, they came out and they did it and they did a good job. They said there were extra charges. They left the thing. But, after all the trouble I had with them, I didn't pay and I never heard from them again. I think it was $20 extra they said because they made several trips. I said, "Well, that's your fault. That's not mine." We weren't at home when they came out. Once when they came out, they were in regular clothes. Apparently the owner was sick at the time. The brother called me and said the owner was sick and he was trying to cover for his brother. I would consider using them in future and giving them another chance.

Very nice people to work with. Called ahead of appointment to confirm appointment. Cleaned the driveway, sealed and taped it off so we'd remember to not drive or walk on it until it was dry. Quiet and respectful and professional. Thank you!

It worked out fine. It took him a little long to come out but I assume they are busy but they do a fine job I think and were reasonable in the price.

The owner was sick in the hospital and his brother was assuming the business. Work was fine.

Went okay - some difficultly contacting them and get project scheduled.

Went fine, on time and good deal.

Purchased a big deal and service was scheduled and completed quickly. Easy. No complaints.
