My dealing have been with them for almost a year. I have got back into my mothers like because of ulsimers. There was two ways to activate the security system. She was unable to activate with using the key pad or key fob that had numbers. When I called them they said that they couldn't cancel her membership. They said that they will be able to upgrade her to a newer system that will allow me to access her security system with cameras and notification on a smart phone. Once they came out to set it up they noticed that she did not have internet so that they will not be able establish this new system for and extra $30 a month. They ended up extending 2 years to her contract. I have spent countless hours on the phone with them and would not cancel her contract. Even after we got a doctors not One person finally was able to help us and cancel it and would give us some credit for the months that we paid but not able to use the system. They did leave a key pad on the wall and we asked for them to take it back but the said that they did not need to. Once I did take off the key pad they rigged it through the phone and sense she does not their service anymore that took away her phone service as well. When I called them and they told us that sense we no longer have their service it was going to cost us $100. I was able to find a way to get her phone back with no help from them. I would never recommend them for anyone.

I called back and told them i was misled about what i needed to install their system and that in our area their system will not work for us. I asked for a refund and the woman told me she would process it. It has been two weeks with no check in the mail so i called back today and after going through more phone prompts i finally got a real person on the phone who was in Florida....i am in Ohio. She told me that the status was listed as "waiting for client to setup installation" so they never processed my request for a refund. I explained the situation to the woman in Florida and she gave me another number to call. I called it and after more phone prompts i finally got to the ADT office on Lauby road in Canton. The woman i spoke to had no idea about what happened or my request for a refund and she told me she would call me back. I am still waiting for the call and filling out paperwork to take them to small claims court. I would not use this company. We went with them for our vacation home because we have ADT on our primary residence, but after this experience we will be cancelling that service as well.

They sent a sub-contractor who was rude. He installed the keypad by the back door when I wanted it to be installed at the front door. I could not arm the alarm system after he left because he did not program it right. I was not happy. Another guy from the company came to fix those things. I also think they are overpriced.

After a year and half I had some problems with the system. They had to come out a few times, and and instructions they gave over the phone were inaccurate. They never really fixed the problem. Overall, it was not a good experience.

My concern is we also got the medical alarm along with the burglary alarm system. It took them six visits to get the medical alarm to work correctly. ADT has a two-way phone pad on the wall where you put your code in. When you have a medical alert they are supposed to come over the phone and talk to you. It took them six guys, and each visit lasted about an hour and a half before they finally got it right. I really have a bit of a complaint about them. That was for our house. We also had our daughter?s house done and we paid for her system too. She lives in Akron about a half hour away. We got both the systems the same night. The burglary part was no problem as it worked as it was supposed to. I was very unhappy with the medical alert system. I had it working right last week which was about a month after installation. We didn?t compare their price with that of anyone else as ADT was number one in the nation. That?s why we went with them. I would consider them in the future for burglary alarms, but not medical alarms.
