Jilek Roofing

Contacted me immediately after leaving message on Angie's list and I gave him a quick synopsis of my problem. They sent estimator to my house to examine damage. Owner called and explained the cause of my leak and what work was needed and he also suggested a roof tune up. All work was reasonably priced and I had hired him to do the work. The work was performed and completed immediately and without knowing where the problem was you would never be able to tell. Excellent service and workmanship.

This project was supposedly completed in January 2012. After that, we noticed there was still a lot of water coming in the side of the garage, down from the roof along the wall. When the weather was warmer, we went up on the roof to discover that the flashing had not been installed correctly so we contacted Jim Jilek to look at it. Once he finally looked at it, he agreed that the flashing was a problem and they would fix it. We also wanted all the rotten wood replaced on that side of the garage as more damage had been caused due to the water cascading down the supports. Jim did say that although he thought the wood was rotten already, he would replace it. We thought it should have been replaced during the initial job. So although it took a long time, the rotten beam was finally shored up (but not with complete 2x4s, with some pieces put together so they won't be nearly as strong as an entire 2x4) and other rotten wood taken care of. We hope it will pass the next city inspection. They did eventually do what they said they would, but we personally think this was too high a price to pay for the aggravation. We will admit this garage is in extremely poor shape. Maybe it would have been cheaper to knock it down and build another!

I had multiple roofing companies come out and inspect my roof as it was in need of being replaced. Tom Laba with Jilek roofing came out and gave me an estimate and later came out and explained in detail what he saw when he inspected the roof. I informed him of several concerns with gutters and ventilation and he informed me that when they were up on the rood they would take of these concerns. He made it very easy to want to with with his company. The crew came out and completed the job in a day while dodging the rain. Very professional and hard working. They took care of the minor concerns that I had before and the roof looks great. They took care of cleaning everything up and did a great job of covering the bushes and what not before they began working. Hopefully I will not have to contact them for future roofing needs but if something does arise with the roof I fully believe that this company will be able to take care of it. Great experience and I would highly recommend them if you are having issues with your roof.

Tom Jilek determined quickly that it appeared to be a one-time ice back up during a harsh winter. It did not appear to be an ongoing leak, and he said we did not need repair work at this time. Very appreciative of his honesty ... there was no charge for the inspection and consultation. I would recommend him highly.

Jilek was one of four roofing companies I contacted to evaluate my leaking roof and provide an estimate for repair. They were the first to respond to the request and were onsite within a day to provide an estimate. Tom took the time to explain the current situation and reviewed options regarding short term and long term solutions. He provided an estimate in writing for me to share with my insurance company and offered to speak directly with their adjuster if needed. The work was completed as promised and within a quick timeframe and Tom worked with me via text and email to keep me updated (my preferred methods of communication due to my work schedule). Within about a week, the roof was repaired and I'm comfortable knowing I chose a long term solution to prevent future occurrences - and that Jilek will stand behind their solution.

We noticed some leaks in our kitchen ceiling. We found Jilek roofing, called for pricing, and time frame of service. Jilek came out the very next day at 8:00 a.m., right on time! He cleaned off our problem area and discussed other areas. He did not push to clean areas that weren't necessary. He was friendly, courteous, and professional.

Tom and Jim were both outstanding: courteous, responsive, professional, problem-solving, knowledgable, honest, brave (an icy roof is a scary place!), and pro-active. Their pricing was extremely fair, and they will be the first people I call this spring to better prepare my house for winter next year!

I received a very brief email from Jim Jilek immediately after purchasing my roof repair package saying that they would do a drive by to see if my roof "qualified for their repairs". I confirmed in response that I received the email and I gave him two phone numbers to call me with any questions. Several weeks later, I received another brief email from him stating that my roof was a "go". I responded again with my contact information so he could contact me to schedule the work. A few days later, I received an email from him indicating the repairs were completed, and that my roof would need replacing in a few years. I was very upset. No one scheduled the repairs with me, no one gave me advance information of what they planned to do, and they did not leave paperwork after they completed the work telling me what they did. I responded that I was disturbed that they claimed they did work on my roof, didn't tell me what they did, and came on my property without my knowledge. I received another email from Jim stating that Jilek Roofing has a good reputation with Angie's List and would never charge me for something they didn't do. Then he said if I wanted to discuss this, I should call him. So, I did. On the phone, he claimed that this is what Angie's List customers expect. They want the work done without being inconvenienced. He offered to come and take pictures of the work. But, that would not satisfy me. How would I know if he came back on my property unannounced, and how would I know it was my roof he took pictures of? I told him I wanted a written order of the work performed and sent to me. I received this in the mail a few days later. I had a reason to call Angie's List a few days later for another issue and the service rep asked me if I had a review for any of my outstanding purchases, so I told her about my experience with Jilek. She acknowledged that some of their service providers do operate that way and customers either like it or don't. Unfortunately, I didn't like it. I truly can't imagine anyone who would. In this world of contractors who bilk people of money and services, I would think people would want some kind of confirmation and or evidence of work performed at the very least. I rate this company a D for customer service. I will not rate their work since I never saw it.

Very prompt in replying to our messages, getting us a free quote, and repairing our roof.

They fixed a leak, replaced some caulking and replaced some shingles; this was done in 3 hours. The experience was great. The company sent 1 tech.

Jilek was very prompt in returning calls and scheduling the job. They originally were scheduled to make the repair on October 16th but rescheduled due to the threat of a rain storm to eliminate any further complications which both my wife and I appreciated their thoughtfulness and diligence in doing the job "right". They completed the job as stated the next day and even provided photos so I was able to see what exactly was done. I feel very confident in their work and would highly recommend their services. Jilek Roofing was efficient, responsive and did a wonderful job.

I contacted Jilek Roofing by e-mail in February 2014 because my house was ready for a new roof plus it was leaking into the garage. They contacted me the next day and came out to have a look. They called me right away and explained what was causing the leak and I asked for an estimate. Shortly thereafter they dropped off a very nice professional folder which contained the estimate plus their credentials, certifications, and product information. I accepted their offer and they also agreed to repair a rotted gutter board and replace a piece of missing soffit on the back of the house at no charge. They said they would start as soon it warmed up to about 40°. They started the job the first week of April and were done in two days which I was happy with because I thought it would take longer when having a tear-off done. The new roof looked absolutely beautiful but I noticed one thing that didn't look quite right. Some of the shingles along the front edge were not lying flat and had "humped" look. I mentioned it to them and they said once it warms ups and we get some warm sunny days they will flatten out, so I figured I'd wait and see. More later. As time went by and I had a chance to view the house every day returning from getting the mail. I noticed that a short piece of gutter and the splash guard in the corner where the house meets the garage were bent and banged up. The gutter piece was also not sitting level and was almost at the same angle as the slope of the roof. Apparently they needed to remove the gutter during the roofing process and it was reinstalled forcefully and sloppily. I shined a flashlight inside the gutter when it was dark outside and I could see gaps in the seams by the light shining through the gaps. Now it leaks like crazy whenever it rains. I contacted them in August 2014 and asked them to fix the shingles and the gutter. They came out immediately and fixed the shingles by trimming my gutter screens which apparently were causing the shingles to not lay flat. They replaced the splash guard but did absolutely nothing to fix the gutter and it still looks really bad.

Perfect work and perfect communication, Tom (one of representatives) explained to us all details of future work and give excellent and clear estimate of the price.

Came out quickly for estimate. Set work date, arrived on time, and completed work. Very satisfied.

Though I chose someone else, my experience in getting an estimate from Jilek was excellent. He was punctual and his price was in line with the roofing company I chose.

They were excellent. Their rate was very competitive with others. They were very neat and took care of the property well. They came back and went over a couple of small things. They cleaned up. I like their manner and they were very personable. They showed up when they said they would.

They were professional with their quote and detailed. We appreciated knowing the process up front. Roof was put on and all debris was removed. They even found where the bees were coming into our home and took out the nest for us! Great group of workers to work with and came back to attach a gutter that was not on their list. They go above and beyond and love referring them so that our family and friends get the same great service we did.

Jim came out for an estimate the same day I called him, and his crew fixed the issue the next day. Very happy with the quick turnaround on this job.

All went well. From the ground, the small area of buckled shingles seems adequately repaired and it looks like caulking was done around the chimney flashing as I was told was going to be done. I was not home when the work was completed, but my family told me it took about 15 minutes to finish the job. I was quoted the price after an estimate was completed. I thought it would take a little longer to finish the work for the price, but I guess that's probably the going rate. A general inspection was also done and I was relieved to hear the roof is otherwise holding up well. I was satisfied with the repair work and the interaction with the company via phone and Angie's List messaging.

Overall, it went well. Communication with Tom was easy. He did a great job explaining the quote to us and answering any questions. When we were having trouble deciding between shingle colors, he provided us some addresses in the area to look at as examples. I'd say the only downsides were that the crew didn't communicate with us (I would have liked for them to knock on the door and let us know when they arrived and when they were leaving) and that they kind of left our yard a mess overnight (plastic in the neighbor's trees, tools on the roof, etc.). There were thunderstorms that day, so I understand if they had to leave in a rush... but it made me very nervous that night when we had a tornado warning! They did a great job cleaning up at the end of the job though and the new roof looks great.
