We have used Tuttle several times for residential work and were pleased with the service each time. Recently we called to get a bid on a new hot water tank and the job was completed the next day for less than a competitor's bid. He replaced the bad pump. When he tried to install the battery backup he told me that he needed to replace my good pump because it wouldn't fit in the same pit. I am a single mom, and I was concerned about my basement flooding because my son's bedroom is downstairs, so I agreed to the additional charge to be safe. I have 2 separate pits due to a lot of water, so I explained my concern to Joe and he assured me that if I gave him a chance, he would take care of everything. I have lived in house for 7 years and when we have a lot of rain in the spring the inside pump runs in addition to the outside pump, so I was worried that the backup pump (only the inside pump) could not handle all of the water in a storm if it was the only one running. Again, Joe assured me that he could take care of that and he installed the battery backup and a new pump in the inside pit. 1 week after he installed it I called because the inside pump ran all the time, never shut off like my old one. Previously, my old system inside pump never ran unless the outside pump quit or there was a storm, with lots of rain. Joe wouldn't come out to look at it, instead he told me they the pumps had to work together for better performance. I explained that if electric went out and I only had one pump, then how would it keep up, he brushed me off and said it would be fine. I called him again a week later and said the pump still had not kicked off, and he finally agreed to come look at it. I took a half day off work to be home at 2:30pm for our appointment. He called and said he might not make it on time and I said I would be home all afternoon. He didn't make it at 4pm, and then said he couldn't make it after 5pm. He wanted to come next day at 9am (Friday) but I couldn't take off work again. I asked if he could come over weekend, but he said he didn't work weekends and it would have to be the following week. My ex-husband came to look at the pump that would not shut off and after looking at the pumps that he had installed, he found out that the new pumps only pumped 1/3 of the water that my old system had done and that this cheap system couldn't keep up with the amount of water and that is why it ran constantly. The receipt that I was given for the work done didn't include the name or model of the pump, if it had, I could have looked it up on the Internet and seen that he put in the cheapest pumps that were not equivalent to what I had in there before. Joe took the pump and backup system out that he had installed, and said he would get my money back, but I needed patience. It has now been 30 days and he hasn't returned a penny of my money. update 4/06/2019 STAY AWAY.... I ended up going to court to get my money back and I did get it back. You can look it up in Warren County records for proof. Stay away....
