TOLEDO LAMINATE FLOORING

The ordering process was uneventful. I paid for the flooring up front prior to delivery. (My first mistake). I ordered 11 cartons of tile. His invoice said 11 cartons of tile. I needed 11 cartons based on my inexperienced estimate and knowing that the extras could be used in my small laundry room (also part of the renovation project). Once I figured out how much adhesive and grout I needed, I also placed an order with Mr. Shay for the adhesive and grout. Although I asked for a price up front and he never gave me one. My second mistake. I regret not demanding a price up front before placing the order. I ordered one gallon of Armstrong adhesive and a gallon and a half of grout. He charged me $280 for these materials. That's $112 per gallon for the adhesive and grout!! I was shocked at the price so I called Andersons to compare prices. Mr. Shay's price was more than $100 higher. I was willing to let him gouge me on the adhesive/grout price since he gave me a good deal on the Armstrong tile . . . until I picked up the tile. While loading the cartons of tile in the van, his son said to me, "One of the tiles was broken so my dad opened the box and took out the broken one." I thought to myself, "OK, seems reasonable. No problem." When I got home and inspected the cartons more closely, one carton had been opened and a total of five tiles were missing. So I called Mr. Shay and asked him to explain. He said, "You ordered 265 square feet and that's what I gave you." I reminded him that I ordered and paid for 11 full cartons and that his invoice says 11 cartons in his own hand writing. We went round and round on the phone and he finally said, "If you want the missing tiles, you will have to come over here and purchase them." To those reading this review, I strongly recommend that you do NOT do business with this man. There's a reason why his businesses keep closing and then opening up under a new name. I told him that he was going to lose a customer over 5 missing tiles but he said that he did not care. I also told him that I would share my experiences with everyone I know. He replied that he really did not care. If he was a business man with integrity, he would have told he up front that he was going to remove tiles from my order and he would have sought my permission first. If he was a man of integrity, he would have not gouged me on the price of adhesive and grout. If he was man of integrity, he would have not asked his son to lie about a broken tile. This type of behavior of very shady. I urge you to NOT do business with Toledo Laminate Flooring/Shays Carpet.

Storeroom selection presentation was very good. However, Toledo Laminate Flooring failed to deliver products within agreed upon times. Robin. co-owner asserted that her company receives "two shipments a week" and that we'd have our product within 3 days. In fact, it took well over two weeks for the product to be delivered to the showroom which resulted in significant unexpected delays in the installation process. In addition, laminate trim pieces took well over 4 weeks to be delivered to the showroom for pickup.
