I sent the mower in to be repaired and was told that they were busy which I understood given the time of year. After a week of not hearing from them I called to see if they had taken a look at it yet. I was told no and that it would be an additional 3 weeks because they were "so busy". I cancelled the service and requested that my mower be returned to me which took an additional 3 days to accomplish. On the day it was to be returned, no one called to let me know when they were coming. I needed to make arrangements to leave work to meet the delivery so I contacted the store to find out what was going on. First the work order could't be located. Then I was told that they were running behind and would be at my house in about 15-20 minutes. I explained that didn't work for me as I was at work and would need a minimum of 45 minutes to get there. I also explained that I had not been contacted to arrange the drop off. I was told they would contact the delivery person and have him wait for an hour then call me to make sure I was home, which was acceptable. I got home 1 hour and 5 minutes later to find my lawn mower abandoned in the driveway. My issues are this: 1. You don't abandon a $2,000.00 rider in someones driveway and leave. 2. Communication, both internally and externally, is severely lacking in this company. I was never told how long the service was expected to take until after they had possession of the mower. Had I known I would have found somewhere different to service it. I have since located a different dealer that performs authorized service and as "busy" as this time of year is the turn around time is 5 days. Also communication with their transportation person, and transportation person and customers. Since Sylvania Mower Center is so busy they most certainly will not miss my business and that is exactly how I was treated.

Description of Work: Some contradiction in details provided by them. Bought a used tractor. When it was delivered it was filthy and heavily smoking from tremendous amount of grease buildup that, I would have thought would have been cleaned off before delivering it. Also, concerns about steering column that they have yet to address.

This customer purchase a used Husqvarna lawn tractor that had a new short block installed in the engine. We communicated a 90 day warranty on the engine alone. The sale of the unit was March 20th, 2015. The tractor itself was delivered shortly after and was not in a filthy condition. The smoking the customer has referred to was oil that was in the muffler from the engine work that was just performed. The customer is correct that the engine compartment was dirty due to the fact that power washing is prohibited in below freezing weather. This was our mistake. We made a service call to the customers home at the end of March to investigate the smoking issue, and communicated to the customer the smoke was from the oil in the muffler and would dissipate shortly, of which it did. At this visit the customer expressed concern about the steering of the mower. He was told that because it is a used mower there is play in the steering, but this is normal for the age of the mower, and it is functioning properly. This used mower is functioning properly and was sold to this customer in "as is condition".

Their initial quote was that it should cost between $30 - $40, $20 of which I paid when dropped off, as a deposit. They called, several days later, and told me that they felt it needed more work than initially discussed and that it would be a total of $97.10, LESS the $20 already paid, to make it right. I hesitantly gave the go-ahead to do the work. It then took them an additional 2 weeks to actually complete the work. When I went to pick it up, they said the price was the $97.10 ON TOP OF the $20 deposit, already paid, for a total of $117.10. I mentioned the discrepancy but was simply told that I must have been given wrong information over the phone. I paid the money, but I won't be using them the next time. I haven't tested the snow thrower yet, to see if it is working properly.

This White/Mtd 2 stage Snowblower was dropped off to our store for service to get the snow blower ready for winter, with periodic troubles with the transmission. This customer was quoted our tune up package of $32.50 plus part plus tax. He was charged a $20.00 deposit because of the age and condition of the unit. Our initial findings found that the recoil rope was broken, the oil was jet black, the spark plug fouled, the scrapper plate worn badly. We repaired the recoil rope to get the engine started to examine the other working components. We found additionally that the carburetor needed to be cleaned for smooth running operation. His transmission worked correctly. We called the customer on 10/9/2014 and advised that his additional work and parts work would leave him a balance of $97.10 if he decided to go ahead with the work. He gave the go ahead. His scrapper plate was back ordered for 10 days, work was completed on 10/23/2014, and the customer was called advising of completion and ready for pick up. He picked up the unit on 10/25/2015 paying the balance of $97.10. We always communicate to the customer what his additional cost are going to be, and what the remaining financial responsibility is going to be at the time of pick up or delivery. This customer paid exactly what he was told he was going to pay at checkout.

They were very responsive from the start. I really liked how thorough and polite they were. They provided a lot of options and did exactly what they said they'd do. I was very impressed with the work and customer service. Great company!
Description of Work: SMC picked up my lawn tractor to perform the annual maintenance on it. They changed the oil, put new blades on, installed a new battery and cleaned it up. They were prompt with the pick up and delivery of the tractor.
