Description of Work: SCAM ARTISTS! | |I called this company to remove the vermculite (there is asbestos in it - so it is pretty dangerous stuff) insulation in my attic found on the home inspection. They said they were the only show in town. So I didn't look on Angie's list - mistake #1. | |Brion was very prompt in coming to schedule an estimate - he assured me that the job would be done prior to my move in 2.5 weeks. Brion said it was a straight forward 2 day job. I then had to come back on another day with another guy (who happened to be the contracted company ServPro used... so obviously ServPro is NOT the only company who does this work) to get another estimate/fill out paperwork. I was then notified that the job would have to be delayed - of course until after my move date... which means I have all of my belongings exposed to asbestos. I was promised that everything would be fully contained and there would be absolutely no issue with having my belongings there for the project. So I did not cancel my move -- mistake #2. At the time of the second consultation - no one brought a ladder - one would think that going into the attic and fully assessing the job is a priority - Mistake #3. So after the 10 day filing time with the state my job was scheduled. Brion apologized up and down that there was the delay - there were apparently "new" guidelines that had been implemented. I am not sure I believe that. (mistake #4 that I believed him). | |Now comes the day of the insulation abatement. I was told by Brion that a dumpster would be dropped off extremely early on that Monday morning and the crew would arrive around 7 am. The dumpster had not arrived as promised - At 7:50 when I had to leave for work - still no dumpster. I was greeted that morning by an employee of ServPro who smelled strongly of marijuana. I stated that I was nervous about the job -- it seemed like nothing happened like it was supposed to and then this guy comes to the site to do a sensitive job high!?!?! The first day does not go as planned - not surprising to me at this point -- the team had to remove a lot of rolled insulation on top of the vermiculite. Had they actually brought a ladder and gone into the attic at either of the consultations provided by ServPro, perhaps they would have known this. anyway - so I ido not stay at the house that evening - I was afraid to go into a house with a negative pressure system set up. The team comes the second day and continued to work. I requested that at the end of the day that the area gets inspected prior to the job being called done. At 3 pm the contracted team had packed up and left. Then the attic was accessed, there were piles of the vermiculite left -- right by the port hole no less. I demanded the team come back out to do the job correctly - though I was nervous because the negative pressure system that is supposed to be in place when dealing with this substance is no longer there. The removal guys came back out and I find out that the representative of ServPro (the one who comes to work smelling of marijuana) was in and out all day - dancing on the porch - acting crazy - not at the job keeping an eye of things as he was supposed to do. They spent another hour removing more vermiculite. | |After all of this, I also found this toxic substance throughout my house - from on the sofa in the first floor living room (not sure how it got there), the stairs, the office, and the hallway on the second floor. I have two dogs who eat all sorts of things on the floor and am very concerned about health implications of them eating this material. To top it off - my built ins and the port entry to the attic had paint damage - they ripped off the paint to the bare wood. It took ServPro 6 days to remove the dumpster containing this chain-of-command, toxic material from my drive. | |The entire time Brion just kept trying to appease me, apologize that this "never happens" and give me a line about this is his livelihood and he only wants to make people happy - it has been a family business for a long time --he "grew up in the business". I suggested that they drug screen the employee who came to the site in what appears to be compromised. Brion had no knowledge of the result when I spoke to him several weeks later --- his "wife handles those matters" and that the employee has a "history with the family that goes way back". now if I were a business owner, I would have to be at the forefront of concerns of customers and not hire drug addicts. After not being billed for several weeks - I called and negotiated the price down - it was supposed to be $750.00 more expensive! | |This entire process was a nightmare. Nothing came though as promised. Everything that could go wrong, did. I pray that I don't have consequences to my health or that of my family. Avoid this company like the plague.

Most unprofessional people I have ever used. They did not complete the job. They gave me four start dates including a couple of "guaranteed" dates. They actually started two weeks late which pushed our work back two weeks. This was for a seasonal business that needed to be ready to open. They did not complete the job. They had a truck dispatched to finish the last part of the job then called them back to work for a bigger client. Owner actually told my contractor "Why would I care about a $2000 customer when I have a $2million customer to keep happy?" Eventually my insurance adjuster agreed to pay them for the work they did and get another firm to finish the job.
