SALGAU ROOFING

I had 6 estimates for our total roof replacement, and decided to go with Salgau Roofing. The price was fantastic, they were the lowest of all the companies that I had come out. A family friend gave Salgau a good review, so I took a chance. I am so very satisfied with the work they did. I can't compliment them enough. My roof was bad. I mean really really bad. I had one company tell me they didn't want to touch it. Long story short, Salgau did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. My wife and I are very happy. Johnnie, the foreman, was very friendly and answered all of our questions during the job process. He is very proud of the work that he and his team do, and it shows. Nicolai, the owner, is very friendly and spends as much time with you as you need to get you any information you'd like. They went the extra mile and repaired wood and flashings that werent' even part of the original estimate, at no charge. If you need a roof, call these guys. You will not be disappointed.

Nick was very responsive and professional. If I had questions or concerns, he addressed them very quickly.

Very prompt to provide the estimate, and work was completed the week after. I was not home at the time of work, but they performed the job when scheduled and cleaned up after. Our leak has been fixed with no issues.

Appointment for estimate was completed on time and the job was completed as estimated and on time.

Pricing, contract and scheduling were done very well. Nicolia is not a salesman like you get from some companies. Another company spent 2 hours trying to sell-us. Nicolia spent 5 minutes with us, then went on to the roof to measure. He then had someone from the office send the estimate via email. The communication with the office was good and the scheduling was excellent.

We called for an estimate on some roofing work. They sent an estimate the next day. We went with another provider because we had two jobs, and they were only able to do the roof. We wanted to deal with the same company for all the work. The estimate for the roof was within $100 of the place we ended up using so I felt it was fair, and I would use them again in the future if I have a suitable job.

I would definately recommend Salgau Roofing. Salgau was one of 5 companies that I asked to quote the work of tear-off and re-shingle my house and barn. Only 3 of those returned quotes, and Salgau was right down the middle for price. Nicolai, the owner, was VERY responsive and easy to work with, he took the time to explain every thing that was going to be done. This level of customer service from him and the office manager (sorry I forgot her name) is what lead me to choose Salgau. He personally over-saw the the team during the week-long job along with the crew leader, and even came back on the following Saturday to do another final check of the work.

I have had Salgau Roofing out for two separate jobs. They are fantastic. I have a 80 year old home with a slate roof. I would not have anyone else do this kind of work for me-they are the experts. They are on time, they clean up after themselves, polite and professional. I cannot say enough good things about this company.

Wanted a specific design for a roof extension but their company was not capable of doing it. The owner recommended me to a nother company.

Not good. They did the work without giving us an estimate. Then the patchwork did not work. Never followed up.

I never met them in person but they were very responsive over the phone. They prepared the quote when they said they would do it.

I contacted Salgau Roofing to replace a 10x10-foot section of flat roof and aluminum gutters on the back of our house. Nicolai arrived for an inspection the day after I requested an estimate, which was delivered via email within 24 hours. Nice and easy! After signing and returning the agreement, I was told by their office staff that there was a backlog of current jobs and I would be contacted a few days prior to when the work would be done, and this was not a problem. Fast forward to three weeks later. There has been no contact and I was ready to call them to ask about when the job would be done, when one morning a truck pulls up in my driveway and out jumps Nicolai and a roofing crew ready to go to work. Luckily I was working from home that day -- maybe they figure they can do a roofing job without calling ahead first, whether or not someone is home! The crew got to work quickly and had the old roof off and installed the new rubber flat roof in about four hours. A second crew worked on replacing the gutters that run on three sides of the new roof section and off to a main downspout. The whole job was completed in about seven hours. The crews were well-mannered and clean-up was done well. It wasn't until about a week later that we had a chance to test the new roof and gutters with our first rain. The roof was just fine, but the last section of the gutters was not pitched correctly and did not drain into the downspout, so water backed up into the gutters and began to drip down along the sidewalk. I called Salgau Roofing to ask that they come out again to repair the problem and spoke with the office staff. A few days later, Nicolai arrived at my home to look at the problem. In fact, he was up on the roof before I noticed that he was here -- again, no phone call, not even ringing the doorbell to see if I was home (?) He had his caulk gun out and was already re-sealing the gutter seams when I used a bucket of water to demonstrate the pitch problem. He agreed that it was installed incorrectly by his crew and re-aligned the gutter. Because we put water in the gutter to test it, he had to return another day when it was dry to complete the re-caulking. (Postscript: this week we had our first snow that filled the gutters and I noticed some leaking at one seam, so we'll probably have them out again to re-seal in the spring.) We got three estimates for a garage roof. Salgau Roofing was the least expensive, yet they were using the same materials as in the other quotes. Also, they were the most professional, friendly, cleanest and punctual. Mr. Salgau took the time to explain to me what was needed and why (my husband wasn't home and I am clueless about these things!). The work was completed in timely manner. I have never worked with such a conscientious company...from the owner to the employees. We were so impressed with their work on our garage roof that we called them to tuck/point our brick house and garage. Again, we had the same experience...professional, friendly, conscientious, and high quality work. Mr. Salgau and his team are very skilled. I also like that Mr. Salgau inspects all the work that is done. My husband and I are very impressed with this company...we will be life-long customers of Mr. Salgua. As a matter of fact, we are already planning on using him to paint the trim work on the outside of our house next spring!

They were prompt and professional. They gave me all the information I needed. I would give Salgau Roofing ‘A’ across the board and I would probably use them again in the future.

This company is amazing! They were on time and very professional. Explained what was needed and performed authorized services. Didn't try to do more than was needed. Tried to save me money by using existing paint, but when I didn't have the right paint they figured it out and it looks great!

Very please with the timing of response and honesty. This was for my elderly mother who is selling her home. She is not having the work done but we would have used this company if we had decided to go ahead with the project.

Mr. Selgau used the same materials proposed by other contractors and his estimate came in anywhere between $1500 and $3500 less than the other bidders. The job was done in two days from start to finish. Mr. Salgau recommended doing away with the power vent and standard master flow vents on the main roof and replacing them with a ridge vent. He also suggested high capacity master flow vents for the garage, which previously had no vents. The roofing materials and venting gave a new appearance to the roof and definitely added to curb appeal. Cleanup afterwards was accomplished quickly and Mr. Salgau and crew were off to their next job. Of particular note is that Salgau Roofing has an A+ rating by the BBB and has done other jobs in or near my neighborhood. Recommendations on Angie's List were a key factor in my asking Mr. Salgau to bid on the job. .I couldn't be happier with the results and strongly recommend that you consider Selgau Roofing for your roofing needs. You won't be disappointed.

They are known throughout the area I live at. They did a really nice job. They were punctual, and their clean up was really good. For what they do, the price is excellent.

A realtor in the area recommended this company to me. I was very happy with the job they did as the roof. They came back when it rained and inspect the attic floor for any leaks from the roof because you couldn't visualize where the leaks were.

The quality of the surface prep did not seem to be satisfactory, but the end result is good.

Mr. Salgau was at our house the day after we called to inquire. He inspected and prepared a quote within hours. The job was started on a time schedule that fit our schedule, it took three days and there were 4-5 people working at all time. His crew did a good job of cleaning up every day before leaving. Mr. Salgau was at our house every day to check on his crew and the progress. Because it was raining halfway through the job, he also came by on a Saturday evening to check on the roof and make sure there would be no leaks. He was very responsive to our questions and concerns and did everything we asked. All in all, (given that we're not roofing experts) we are very pleased with the job and the manner in which everything was handled.

The estimate process went well and I did not dislike him. He seemed like he was trying to talk over me instead of actually listening to what I wanted. He was trying to tell me about what I wanted and what color I wanted. I told him that I wanted to pick my own roof at that price. He was very quick. He was actually early and was already up on my roof when I pulled up. He verbally told me what the cost would be and then he dropped off an estimate in my mailbox. He was professional but arrogant.

My call to quote was returned the next day and the rep arrived as scheduled to look at the roof and quote the project. He returned later in the day with a contract and when the rain cleared several days later, his crew arrived to fix the roof. They were respectful and quiet and Mr. Salgau came to check on them as well, and made sure I was satisfied. The work appears to be well done (although I cannot access the entire roof to check).

Mr. Salgau and his crew were always timely, including for the original evaluation and estimate. They worked consistently throughout the day and only took a break for lunch. Mr. Salgau and his crew were very competent. Our house was built in 1953 and a great deal of work was required to remove the original two layers of roofing. The job was more difficult than Mr. Salgau estimated. He also had to do more wood replacement than expected, but he did not change his final bill from the original bid, even though I offered to compensate him. The only change to the bill from the original estimate was for materials and labor for extra items that I requested. They evaluated conditions on the roof and eaves and changed things when necessary for a better installation and repair. For example, rain on the roof in one area was directed in an odd way and contributed to leaks around the chimney. They recognized issues like this and corrected them. The carpentry on the eaves was good and they prime-painted all repairs. Mr. Salgau was patient and listened to what I requested when I saw something else that needed to be done. He offered solutions, showed me materials and moved ahead when I agreed with his proposals. After Mr. Salgau was finished, there was a leak around the chimney. He immediately returned when I called and he made the repair. He waited until it rained again to see once again if everything was OK before asking for payment of his bill. And, then, in order to use an American Express card, which Mr. Salgau does not take and which I use to earn frequent flier miles, Mr. Salgau picked me up and took me to his supplier, where I paid the amount of my bill on Mr. Salgau's bill at the supplier. We were both satisfied with this method of payment and Mr. Salgau went out of his way to do this for me. In addition, the air conditioning unit was located on the roof as well and was old and needed to be replaced. Mr. Salgau had to coordinate work and repairs on the roof with the air conditioning contractor. This he did very well. The design of the air conditioning unit site changed from the original and Mr. Salgau repaired wood and flashed new supports, which was not in his original bid. He also returned for the final installation of the AC unit, even though his roofing work had been finished for a couple of weeks. Mr. Salgau was an excellent contractor to hire. The carpentry work as well as the gutters and roof were well done. Mr. Salgau and his crew had a strong sense of pride in their work. The flashing installed around the chimney was copper, as Mr. Salgau considered that to be his signature. But, his bid was not the highest. I highly recommend Mr. Salgau. And, on top of everything else, he and his crew were pleasant and fun.
