Overall, the work was acceptable (not great, but they did a good job on the installation). However, the ordeal over the quote completely soured my opinion of this company and I will never do business with them again.
Description of Work: Hired R&S to provide and install ceramic tile in a remodel project for a laundry room, small bath, and hallway. A quote was provided and accepted that included removal of old vinyl tile from the area (concrete slab underneath) at $200 to remove. When the installers came, they found that the existing tile was firmly attached and did not need to be removed. They recommended that we lay the new ceramic tile on top of the existing floor. I agreed to that and then called Rafferty & Schmidt to let them know that we would not need the flooring removed and they said that would save the $200 quoted. When the job was completed, the installers presented a bill for the full amount and said that I had to pay this amount and that the $200 would be refunded by R&S. I payed the amount in full and the next day went to visit R&S with the bill adjust for the refund. I was told there would be no refund as the preparation of the floor (roughen the existing tile for better adhesion) also justified the $200 expense. They also said they would be willing to deduct $200 off a future flooring order if I selected them for the next phase of the project. Needless to say, I chose to not use them for the future project and have never received the $200 refund.

I thought that it was very fast. The combination of price and quality was good. They had good workmanship.
Description of Work: Rafferty Schmitt and Company laid carpet in November. I had a dining room, living room and upstairs hallway done. They did my family room about four months before that. I had to move the little things like lamps but they moved the furniture. It took them about a day and a half.

We worked with Bob Jones as a recommendation from Riverbrook Construction. He was amazing. He came out for a FREE estimate and then compiled multiple different types of carpet samples and padding when we arrived at the store. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all of his products and the other products out on the market. We had contemplated going to Home Depot and after speaking with Bob we took the sample he let us borrow and compared it to what we would have received at Home Depot - we saved $500 AND got better carpet with a better warranty. They don't charge per stair - they just couple that with the square yard. Bob also explained that when you work with a carpet dealer vs. a retail store the carpet place prices it as per square yard and the retail store is per square foot. So, the retail store looks cheaper on the front but isn't! We literally ordered the product and within one week had it installed. My husband commented that it was almost too nice and I agree. It is absolutely amazing!!! We completely recommend and are talking to them now about tiling our sunroom. GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!
Description of Work: We had carpet installed in our family room, the stairs leading to family room, and the stairs and landing leading to basement.

The contractors were very thorough and gave a lot of courtesy. They took their shoes off each time before coming into the house since it was raining. They were very neat. They picked up after themselves for what I paid which was a lot of money. I was happy with their work. I wanted a premium product and I got what I asked for. I would use their services in the future too.
Description of Work: Rafferty Schmitt & Company installed carpets in my house yesterday. They removed the old carpeting and the old padding before laying the new padding as well as the new carpeting.
