They come out every year and take care of my trees and stuff. I’ve just had them for years, they’re local. I haven’t gotten the bill yet. Price rating – I guess they were okay. I mean I don’t use anybody else, I guess they were good. Quality rating – They’re really good. They come when they put me on their schedule when they’re in the area. It wasn’t anything that was urgent.

They do a great job. I don't have anyone come in and do stuff like mow the grass. I think that their official name is L E Savory Tree & Lawn. They are local and they do a great job. If I have a question they come out that day and check it out for you. They get back to you right away and so that is good. We pay them on an annual basis. The staff is very nice. They are very prompt. They are always on time. They come when they say they are going to come. To a friend, I would say that they did a good job. They did exactly what we asked them to do. I would grade them an 'A' on everything.
Description of Work: We use Savory for lawn application, for like fertilizing and that kind of things throughout the year. Savory's we use every year. It is like a continuous service. The last service was for the lawn service in the summer and actually they probably did put something down already this year in April of this year. They just treat the lawn.

We have periodically had arborists, including Savory, look at a very old maple in our back yard. It is adjacent to our deck and home. We were told over the years that the two trees would eventually need to be cabled to each other. Last summer, I asked Mr. Savory to look at the bigger maple - which he indicated was one of the oldest in the area. He referred to it as "majestic" and "beautiful" and seemed genuinely interested in helping us keep this tree healthy. The hole in the bottom of the trunk had grown and we had seen ants. We were very concerned insects were beginning to hollow out the bottom of the trunk. Mr. Savory told us that was not the issue, but suggested it was time to cable the trees. We also asked them to cut down a weeping cherry in front of our garage at the same time. It was very messy and was cracking the sidewalk. Mr. Savory suggested we leave the stump to avoid damage to the concrete. We indicated we wanted about 15' of the trunk to be cut into manageable sizes for splitting. We wanted to use it for firewood. Mr. Savory advised it would likely be a couple of months, which was fine with us. By August, we had two nests of yellow jackets that had taken up residence near the tree. They were feeding on the cherries. We also received notice our road was going to be torn up and repaved. That work would not be completed before the end of October and our road would be occasionally closed. I immediately called Savory to advise them. The woman told me they probably wouldn't be out before mid-October and would give me at least two days notice. She was especially grateful we had warned them about the bees. I affirmed that was important. First, if the road was closed I didn't want them to be inconvenienced. Second, I wanted to make sure the weeping cherry was properly cut down and left for firewood. I also mentioned to her that one of the many notes we received referenced a front maple. I confirmed that was an error and that the two huge maples behind the house would be cabled together. She said she was sure it was a "typo," and that Mr. Savory (the arborist) would carefully write out the final work order. I mentioned that we were planning on cutting down the front maple in the next year, and to please ask if they could eventually give us an estimate. The tree is not particularly healthy. Even after having its limbs thinned, it regularly drops limbs in bad storms. In October, I received a call from my younger daughter who stated she stopped by the house to pick up something and was surprised the tree crew was there. I immediately called Savory. I received an apology and assurances the job would be done properly. I was less than happy. When I got home, the cherry tree was properly cut. When I went into the back yard, there was no cable. I immediately called and was told the work had been done, but it is sometimes difficult to see the cable. The entire family went out back and we could not see anything. The following day, as I opened the upstairs drape, I was shocked to see a wire between a limb and the trunk of the maple in the front yard. I (again) called. I was told there were two Mr. Savorys and that they "didn't always talk," but she would "make sure" it got straightened out. I asked her to send us a bill for the weeping cherry in the interim as we wanted to pay for it. (Indeed, we had offered to give them a deposit before the work which was declined.) We heard nothing. A bill arrived charging us for both projects. I again called and was told she had no authority but would make sure "the brothers talked about it and someone would call." Nothing. The following month we received a reminder bill again including the work not done. I called and suggested that they simply come out to cable the two maples and we could call it even. We could then send in a check for the billed amount. Again, nothing. We are now receiving threats of collection and finance charges. While they may do good work, the billing/business side is a mess. We are happy to pay for the cherry tree, but refuse to pay for them cabling the wrong tree. Mr. Savory and I stood (more than once) at the base of the large maple in the back yard and discussed its health and its future. They made a mistake, but seem unable to resolve what should be a simple matter. We are very, very disappointed about this. Writing a bad review is not easy, but we simply have no other choice. Thank you for reading this. reats
Description of Work: We had retained them to cut down a weeping cherry in the front and tether two large maples in the back.

Didn't realize branches were so tough to get picked up when you cut them down yourself. These guys took on the job and did the job fast enough that my grass didn't die , and my wife didn't kill me! Next time I think I'll let them do the trimming! Very professional for such a small job, and very fast!

We have a very old maple tree, which has been described as one of the oldest in the county. We noticed a lot of ants near the base of the tree, and some other insect activity. We were concerned about the tree's integrity. The arborist left a note stating that the insects were not causing a problem, and that the tree (including vascular system) appeared quite healthy. He could have easily sold us on some expensive treatments. Wow. That type of integrity is rare. I will be calling L. E. Savory today about handling all of our tree care and trimming needs. We have a couple dozen trees, and they will be getting all the work.

They do a really good job. They are arborist and they are really smart on how to keep my trees in good health and to keep my trees from dying. This guy comes out and trims the trees and he knows how to do it so that my trees stay healthy. It has to be cut a certain way and he knows how to cut it because he is trained. He is like a doctor for my trees. I have an ash tree and they are being eliminated all through out Ohio and Michigan because of the emerald ash boar. He has come up with a system, he injects a merit chemical into the tree, he comes out twice a year, he has been doing this for four years, my trees are still healthy, and everyone else has lost theirs. We pre-pay for everything.

Description of Work: Savory trimed trees and bushes that were in need of much over growth that needed professional help. They did an excellent job, plus they are fertilizing our bushes and trees. A few years back they saved our crimson king maple that we had all but written off. Savory is a very informed and professional company and they would be our recomendation to anyone looking for great work on trees & shrubs or anything green.

In general we were not happy. It did not seem like it was well done. I think my wife had to get him out a second time to get it done the way it had to be done. They consider themselves as experts and you tell them how you want it, they were not interested in doing it the way it makes sense to do, though they do it. They did it but she was not happy and we had to have them back again, and they argued with her. It was not a good experience and we will not use them again. They are supposed to know more than we are suppose to and it was not easy. We thought they were expensive but there was not much competition so we did not have anybody really to compare them to. My wife was frustrated and she was talking about of calling them again just because there was nobody else to call.
