Try came to do an estimate. Jon (the owner) promised me a quote within a week. After a week I called to get an update. I was told I would get a call back in 5 mins with a date for the quote. That was over a week ago. I have left 2 emails and 2 messages. I have not heard anything.

After the initial discussion with the homeowner as to what the job entailed, John typed up a four page contract for (Removed members name). There were problems with the delivery of the contract. There was a misunderstanding. Once (Removed members name), posted an "F" grade, John called the homeowner again on Friday. The agreement between John and (Removed members name)was that John would email the four page contract on Monday and (Removed members name) agreed that he would change his initial "F" grade. Unfortunately, the grade has not been changed.

Handy Hubby was a provider of their word from start date to end. Fantastic attention to detail and stayed on the job until fully complete. Many companies come and go taking care of multiple jobs however Handy Hubby assigned a team and they completed the entire job without interruption. We received excellent advise in regards to the project on an ongoing basis. Always kept informed at every stage and the team assigned to the job were friendly, professional and amazing! We would definitely use this company for an entire kitchen remodel that we plan to do in the near future. They proved themselves above and beyond many others we have had the misfortune to use. Great to finally find an honest builder. As with all projects, the price at the beginning was excellent however we chose to take advice given which slightly blew our budget. - no regrets!

I hired Handy Hubby to remodel my daughters bathroom as a Christmas gift, my daughter was going to be out of town for two weeks and I wanted to surprise her when she returned home. John was very conscientious of the schedule that I had to work with. They went in and gutted the whole bathroom from top to bottom. She had an old tub and had told me that she wished she had a large tiled walk-in shower. Well John made that wish come true. He helped me make decisions on all aspects of the remodel. From which tile to use, paint colors, and all the fixtures that would compliment her new bathroom. All of the workers were very pleasant and hard working, they also cleaned up at the end of each day. After the bathroom was completed the results were outstanding. I wished John could have seen the look on her face when she saw her new bathroom, the look and the excitement she showed was worth every penny. If you have any remodeling projects, call Hand Hubby. I know I will be using them again in the near future.4

We were extremely pleased with the end result of our basement project. Throughout the process we had several change request and they were able to make adjustments so that all request were fulfilled. We had a vision for the reclaimed wood bar that was far exceeded by the talented carpenter with Handy Hubby. He was spot on in every suggestion for finishing touches that we had not thought of. As a result we would definitely use and or highly recommend Handy Hubby to anyone with a remodel project. From the owner to electrician, painter, and carpenter we always felt we were dealing with professionals.

John came out to our house and looked over the space we were interested in finishing, which was our basement. It was actually exciting to hear him create ideas as he looked around. After he gave us an estimate, which was a little higher than we expected (as this was our first quote). A few days went by and one of us got in touch with the other and I explained we were going to table our plans, but wanted the design as stated in the offer. I have messaged them through Angie's List so you can confirm this information. We never received the design or the plans even after several requests. If they were not part of the deal, then it shouldn't be in the title of the service. John behaved professionally when at the house, but not delivering on the offer to me is not professional behavior.
Description of Work: john came out and saw the basement, came up with some creative ways to finish the basement, he measured, quoted an approximate price and then left.

The original repair of a small crack in the living room ceiling was done on 3/26/14 along with several thousand dollars of other repairs on the house. A couple people at Handy Hubby looked at the roof of the house and determined that the roof was fine. Less than a month later the ceiling crack reappeared. It took them months to come out and repair it again. The second time they came it was only after I contracted for another several thousand dollars worth of work to be done. They did the second repair which also cracked shortly afterward but since there was no more new work that they could charge me for they were no longer willing to come and back up what they had already done. During that time they sent someone outside to look at the roof and again check the upstairs ceilings to determine if there was a problem in either of those places and I was told no. Between then and June 2015 I have called Handy Hubby at least a couple dozen times to request that they back up the work that they had done and repair the ceiling which had cracked again, and was starting to peel and they never came back for that repair. On my numerous phone calls to the company I was told by Debbie "the guys are really busy" or the guys are running really far behind" or "Bill is no longer with the company" or "Jeff is no longer with the company." Several people from Handy Hubby came by and looked at the roof and said that the roof was fine and that they would call me and re-repair the ceiling. Each of these times I was taking time off from work to meet them there to look at the ceiling or the roof. Each time when they were told that there was no new work to be done they had no interest in correcting the problem that had not been resolved in the original work. I can fully understand a company wanting new business to expand their company and their bottom line but when they do it at the expense of losing a customer who has given them good business in the past that is not a way to run a business. It's also a good way to ruin your reputation. I have since called a more reputable company and the guy came out, went up on the roof, looked at it and fixed the problem within 10 minutes. I guess it's all in knowing what you're doing, and having solid, qualified staff that you're sending to determine the problem, and do the work. I would never call Handy Hubby for anything ever again. Nor would I recommend them to any of my friends or family. They're only good for excuses, and not for repairs.
Description of Work: Several repairs on two occasions that they came to my house. They had to come and re-do @ least 3 or 4 things (hung a security door backwards, put smoke detector in the wrong room, etc), but repair of my living room ceiling was the most egregious work I've ever had done.... Not done!

On two different occasions (about three months apart) I called Handy Hubby to set up some electrical repairs. Both times I was told by the receptionist that they would contact the electrician and have the electrician contact me to set up repairs or at least at estimate. I never heard back from Handy Hubby. When I did call back about a month and a half later this past fall, the lady seemed put out by the fact that I was following up and said that they would have someone call me. They never did. They also never followed up on the siding issue

My mother has used them too, and they have always done a very good job. The owner is very particular, and the stain wasn't perfect, so he redid it. Everything looks wonderful. It really looks nice. Everything is functioning perfectly. They did get the work on time, we were pressed for time. The workers are very courteous and they clean up after themselves nice and neat. I can only say good things about them. It took them 4 or 5 days to do the bathroom. The pricing is very good. We compared with other places and services.
Description of Work: We have used Handy Hubby many times. They put in a whole new bathroom for us. They took measurements, and suggested some places that we go to look for tubs, toilets, and tiles. Then they picked everything up at the places that we had ordered at, they took the old tub and toilet out, then they painted, they did new baseboards which they stained. They also did some repair to a wall.

Well. It's hard to say. I was hoping to get an estimate on some tile work for a back splash in my kitchen. I made two appointments to have someone come and look at the job. Unfortunately, nobody ever showed up on either occasion. I can't say whether or not these folks do good work. I can only say that they were unable to accomplish the first step of showing up. My approximate date of service may be off some. It was a few months ago. I'm not one to write bad reviews so this is sorta' new to me.

I called Handy Hubby wanting help with finishing the remodel of a upstairs bathroom due to water damage. I had done most of the work myself but things were dragging on and I wanted some help finishing things up. I had installed a window into the new exterior wall of the upstairs bathroom. The inside of the wall was unfinished. The design changed, so the window needed to be moved 36" closer to the north. The wall in question is approximately 11' long, 8' high. The project involved taking off all of the exterior siding, 1/2 of which would be replaced, taking off about 2 sheets of OSB, dismantling the 36" X 24" window box after the window was removed, and then rebuilding the box 36" to the north. Then putting up new OSB, house wrap, and siding. I asked that they brace the roof with 2 2x4 just around the affected section. I would pay and get the new siding, house wrap, and the 2x4's they needed. They would supply the fastening hardware and labor. I had explained all of this to the salesman on the phone, because I did not need my time wasted by a contractor who did not want this work. I explained that I did not want someone to finish the bathroom, only to move the window. I told them I called because their website said no job is too small. To put this in perspective, I am not construction by trade, but my son and I could tackle it in one sunny day. Well it was not sunny, and i did not have my sons help. I estimated a days wages for two workers at $272. I doubled that for taxes etc., and error. Then added in overhead and profit and came out to $800 to move the window, my estimate. When the salesman came out we went over the job and he agreed my plan on how to move it was good, and that they could do it. We then went to the hallway where I thought I would get an estimate right there for the job, but if not ok. He started to explain how they were moving into doing bathroom and kitchen remodeling. He showed me the nice big binder of pictures of jobs they did, and how they could knock out the WHOLE bathroom. In other words finish the whole construction project. The whole interior of the bathroom was studs, so it would be an easy canvas to paint, so to speak. I explained that would be nice, but that's not what I wanted. He went more and more into selling me the idea that they could finish the whole job. I told him that I had explained my situation on the phone, so I would not have to meet contractors who did not want the job because it was a small project. I also explained because it was small, I could give a month time frame where they could give me a days notice to come over. My project could be a filler. Towards the end I realized that he had used this opportunity to get into my house to sell me on a bigger service. He had never intended to do the small job I needed. The next day he called with an estimate of almost $1600. I expected as much because I knew they didn't want the job. He proceeded to tell me it would take two days, and they were booked for a month. Just a bunch of bologna. A complete waste of my time.

The service worked out nice, but he started pressuring me to do the renovation right away. I told him I did not have the money. I just bought the house and I was trying to get an idea on what I wanted to do. I did those plans and now, I have called them for a couple of other jobs and their services are getting worse and worse and worst. They would not even return my calls most of the time now because probably they said they think I took the plans and went with somebody else and I told them I would not do that. So, I am waiting for a call back for two weeks now for another small project and they do not let me know anything. So, I am going to use somebody else. There were no additional costs to the Big Deals. I paid for the basement design. Then, I paid extra and did it again and paid him to make a kitchen design for me too. Then, he kind of got really assertive telling me not to take the plans and take them to somebody else. He kept asking me when I am going to do it. Then, I talked to him about something else later and he asked me again when I was going to do the stuff. I reminded him that I told him I was not ready. I was not even in the U.S. then. It is just a horrible customer service. I promised him that I am not going to use somebody else with his plans. I even told him that I do not have $40,000 to renovate a basement. I also told him that I do not leave in the U.S. He said he understood, but now, they are not returning my calls. So, I am not going to deal with them anymore. The price was fair. He did his best he could to make them look real nice and there were small projects he did for me.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for Handy Hubby. He came in, measured things, and looked around. He made a suggestion and that was for redoing a basement. I told him that I just moved in not even a year. He asked me what I was going to do with my kitchen and I told him what I was thinking doing with my kitchen and he said he can make a design for that too. So, I did two Big Deals for two designs, one for the basement and one for the kitchen.

He was on time, I'll give that, but was not personable. Quote was very high all because a asked for permit. Then he would change the prices not remembering what he told me in the first visit. It's like he would pull random prices out of his head. On the first visit he gave me an estimate of between $4000 to $7000. Then when I asked for permit for everything to be legal the price increased by $12,000 in the second visit! Very wishy washy. No thanks! I guess there is a higher price to pay to stay legal. Plus i spent "$55 for Custom Basement Design with Measurements and Set of Plans" I didn't even get that. Can i get my money back!

A bad experience from the very first contact. STAY AWAY! Was put on hold 5 times during my initial call. Plumber showed up early for my appointment and didn't wait for me to arrive, so I had to reschedule. Was put on hold 3 times during my second call. When I finally got him in to look at the sink, he identified that the RO spigot was leaking and broken. Said he'd pick up a replacement spigot after his next appointment, and call me to get back the same day to install it. He had to turn off the cold water to the sink. But never called back. Five days later, I called their office to find out what the deal was, I was told they couldn't find the part, and they'd look into ordering it from the manufacturer. Again, no call back. I called again a week later and got the same response. They swore the part was not available anywhere, so they might have to replace the whole RO system. I told them okay, get me an estimate. Again, no call back. Meanwhile, I go into Lowe's and find the part on the shelf. After the initial visit, these people never, ever called me back. Even though the plumber had turned off the water and left my RO system torn apart. Sooooo unprofessional. An amazingly bad experience. I'm shocked that they have an overall A rating.
Description of Work: Called them about a leak under my kitchen sink.

If this customer was put on hold we apologize that the office was busy when she called. The original appointment was set for between 11-12 but customer was not home by 12. So the plumber waited a half hour and left at 12. When plumber went back to the next appointment water was leaking from the faucet so he did shut off the water to the faucet only so that it would not cause water damage. The plumber told the customer that he would look for the part but did not say that he would be back that same day. After searching at Lowes and Home Depot and found there were no parts to repair the Reverse Osmosis faucet we did call the customer and let her know that we were going to search the internet for the parts and found that you have to purchase the complete faucet. The customer called back, the plumber spoke to her and told her, that from his search parts were not available. He said that she would need to buy the complete faucet, but she said she did not want to spend that much money. The plumber suggested that she check to see if it was still under warranty. The plumber suggested that maybe the homeowner could get the needed parts from the manufacturer. He said to call back and let us know when they come in and we would go back and install them for her. We never heard back from her.

We contacted several contractors found on Angie's list. Handy Hubby was the first to get back to us and come to review our plans. He gave us a rough estimate and left to work out the details. We had two additional estimates done and they were very close to his original estimate. When he came back with the "contract" there were details on materials but no monetary costs listed. Then he flipped over the "contact" and started writing numbers including "discounts" and the final cost was 2 and a half times the estimate! When we acted surprised he got all defensive and then stalked out saying "I guess your not interested then". We later had the work completed by one of the other contractors for a price very close to the original estimate all three gave us. We feel he tried to gouge us. I'm very glad we got 3 quotes. Just because he was first, he tried to take advantage us it and it seemed like he didn't want the job so he priced himself out. He could have just said it was too big for him instead of being shady about it.
