Description of Work: Removed and installed an attic door in my garage.

Description of Work: They put up a beautiful wooden privacy fence. It looks very nice, they cleaned up their mess, and were very efficient. Only thing I didn't like is that they did not come in November, as planned to set up the fence. They attempted to once but it was raining. Then we did not hear from them. I called several weeks later, and then they were very punctual about getting the job done. The fence is well made, very good quality.

Description of Work: Initially i had asked Jacobs ladder out for a few misc jobs. One of which was to block a hole in the kitchen with drywall. After inspecting 'the hole' (which was the space between kitchen and bathroom)the contractor announced that he could see a mains pipe from the bath leaking. After much discussion about what the job would be to repair it (removing bath, basin, and toilet - breaking up bathroom floor etc etc, 1 weeks work - he gave a ball park figure of anywhere up to $10k for the job, depending on what he found under the bathroom floor. We immediately got a second estimate from a plumber and ..... $1,500 and 4 hours later the job was complete. There was actually a couple pipes that were on the dicey side that the plumber replaced. Why so much cheaper you ask ..... the plumber went through the original hole in the kitchen, breaking only a small piece of floor in the process which was concreted before the plumber left, and of course the 'hole' was covered with a little door so that access to the pipes would be easy in the future ... and all for $1,500. Moral of the story .... when a water pipe is in question get a plumber ! and of course always, but always get a second quote.

Description of Work: Installed new exterior door - very responsive and did work on time with good quality.

Description of Work: They repaired some roof leaks around the vent pipes, and installed a new insulated vent duct from the bathroom vent to the outside of the house because of condensation. Excellent work, very professional, I would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Description of Work: I signed a contract with this provider in May 2014 with the understanding that the work would begin somewhere at the end of August to scrape, reglaze, and paint some windows. | |I did not hear from this provider and had to call them several times between Sept. and Oct. to get an update on what they were doing. They said they were still going to get to it but they were behind. On my last call somewhere near the end of Oct., I told the provider if they didn't send someone out the next week we would forget the project and to my dismay, Jacob sent out another painting contractor, not even his own people! I hired this contractor to do the work for me because of their ratings on Angie's list but I was very disappointed that they did not get to the job in a timely manner and then sent me a totally different contractor who I could have hired myself. I called them to express my disappointment about this and concern that this would increase the price. I spoke each time to one individual but after this conversation, I was immediately called back by the owner who wanted to tell me all his business problems and how he had had problems with not having enough men to do the work. He told me he would send two men out that following Monday. Hearing all this and the fact that he had had to pull men off other jobs all throughout the summer, the fact that we were originally told 3 men would do the job for the price we agreed upon, in addition to the fact that cold weather was fast approaching and it would be likely that outside work could not be finished if not done quickly, I just cancelled the job now too concerned that I would pay more than agreed upon, there would not be enough men to complete the work before cold weather set in, and because I didn't feel I could trust a contractor who sent me someone else to do my work and did not tell me he was doing this. It was not hard to tell since the other contractor pulled up in his own truck with his name on the side! Not an honest practice in my opinion.

Description of Work: The movers were scheduled to deliver our household goods. Jason stayed all day and installed closet organizers, installed bathroom fixtures, put together disassembled furniture and generally, helped immensely all day until everything was sufficiently together. He was friendly, professional, and well priced. he earned the spot as our g-to handyman guy as long as we live here!!!

Description of Work: I had tiles that were coming out in one of my bath areas. Owner came to get an estimate explaining each thing he would be doing. I had received another estimate which was not as complete as Jacobs ladder was. I expected to pay more for what he was doing. He emailed an estimate within a couple days. He also gave the feeling of confidence that he was the right choice. I was so impressed that during the process he called to ask if we could change up the pattern of my tile as opposed to side by side. I agreed. I am so happy that I did. The tile and pattern look great. The men he sent to do the work were very kind and answered any questions i had. I had to work as well and was quite comfortable with them in my home when I wasn't there. I have some other things I am planning to do and will definitely call Jacobs ladder first!

Description of Work: Repaired a roof that had been put on badly. What is even better - they responded to a call about something that was different than agreed upon. To me that is when you seperate the men from the boys. They responded politely and in a timely manner. The roof is great. I will call them back.

Description of Work: We had an upstairs bathroom that was always freezing. I asked Jacob to add insulation around this room. He showed up with a helper and performed the job in a timely manner. Very professional. My experience in this town is that it is extremely difficult to get service people to call you back, let along show up and do the work properly, so Jacob is way ahead of others.
