Dr Steam Carpet Cleaning & More

I called the company around 8:30 this morning to inquire as to their ad for $199 for roto-style whole home carpet clearning. I was advised that the $199 would be for the entire home (no matter the number of bedrooms, etc), not including stairs and the basement or any "bonus" rooms. I advised how many rooms we had and was told the $199 would apply to the home except for the basement/stairs. The company had a couple of cancellations today so they fit me in this morning at 11:00. I advised that I did not need the whole house done as two of the bedrooms would not need the service. I have had my carpets cleaned on many occasions and was pleased with the type of machine that was used - a cleaning rotary style, instead of a wand. That, however, was the only good part of the experience as they was a total lack of customer service. I moved chairs and other items off of the floor and asked them to move the other furniture that was movable. Only one sofa in the family room and the dining room table were moved. While the sofas in the living room could have easily been moved, they were not nor was any of the furniture in the basement. There was no report at the end of the cleaning as to stains, etc. or inquiring of my satisfaction; I was simply advised to be careful when stepping from the carpet to the tile. Then the bill was produced - I was charged $199 plus $30 for the stairways and $30 for the basement plus tax. I asked whether the charge was appropriate since they had not done the whole house - two bedrooms had not been done and inquired whether there was any room on the basement charge. He said there was not. When I asked if it was him to whom I had spoken when making the appointment, he advised that he had taken the call. I then asked how much it would be if the two bedrooms had been done and he said it would be the same - $199. I asked why then, if they were not, that the charge still applied and he said "you have to draw the line somewhere". Hardly the professionalism or customer service that should be delivered. Needless to say they won't be called again.
