Getting an in-home estimate was easy and quick. Getting them to set a date to come paint was a little more tricky - it took several phone calls on our part. The crew was 2 men, who were curtious while here, but took frequent smoke breaks, and worked short days. The project should have taken 3-4 days, and ended up taking 2 weeks to get completed. 2 days in particular that were scheduled to be working days the painters did not show up. 4 hours after the scheduled "start time" I called and the main office contacted the painters, who then contacted me. There were necessary doctor appt one day, and the other day one of the painters car wouldn't start. The painters were always nice on the phone, but if you don't intend on coming, a phone call ASAP would be nice so someone doesn't sit around the house waiting. The owners were helpful and nice, but they are not the ones painting. The paint job was decent, but you can see some areas in the corners that are thin (streaking/not evenly covered), and some paint on the edge of ceiling.
Description of Work: 4 rooms were painted, no ceilings. 3 large bedrooms and 1 dining room.

It was supposed to take 3 weeks and it took 3 and a half months. Shortly into it, I was having so many problems that they fired the first crew and brought in a second crew, which was why it took so long; because they had to correct the mistakes. I got a call at work one day from the first crew. They had to bring in a lift because my home is a 3 story home. They parked the lift in my neighbors driveway and when the lift broke down, he decided he was just going to go home. I had to leave work and go home and talk to my neighbor. They planned on leaving the lift parked in his driveway, blocking him in. I had to let him drive my car. The next morning, I finally got a hold of the owner and they finally got the lift out. I got a phone call the following day that the lift broke down in the driveway with his car blocked in. AGAIN my neighbor ended up having to drive my car for 4 days because of that inconvenience. There were big bubbles in the paint, and I was using the best paint out there. He told me it was because of moisture in the wood, which I agreed with but it was because they power washed it one day and tried to paint it the next. There were two areas that were having the largest issues. Those areas were covered and would not have received moisture without them putting it on. Everything turned out in the end relatively good. I paid him the remainder of the job and he left. He finished this job in September and In April he was working on a neighbors house and I had been contacting him because my paint was already bubbling and peeling. He came over and told me that it was not that bad... I said paint should not be peeling after 7 months. He said he would call me back, and never did. I finally had to go to the Better Business Bureau. He still refuses to talk to me or do anything about it. He did respond to the Better Business Bureau and claims that it is the moisture, because its an older home and other painters tell me that it is a preparation problem he just paints them as quick as he can and moves on to the next. There were numerous things that were not done well and not done right. They don't want to take the time to do things that make it done well and right. Everything about the experience was just horrible.
Description of Work: They were supposed to paint the entire exterior of my home.

Very badly. Due to the height of the house, we didn't discover until several months later, that painting of the upper and roof level was not completed. Also, during the contractor's attempt to complete other poorly performed work (only one coat of paint was applied to several areas of the house), the contractors 'lift' cracked a sandstone sidewalk and created an approximately 4 by 4 foot depression on the hill in our front lawn. One of the contractors employees also detached a gutter downspout during the course of the job. After numerous complaints, the contractor agreed to reattached it. The contractor did so by drilling a screw into our siding and wiring the gutter down spout to the screw when we were not at home. The entire experience is much too long to recite here, however, it should be noted that the the contractor agreed to make all the necessary repairs and to correct what he acknowledged was a poor paint job, but he failed to follow through. This went on for almost a year.
Description of Work: Painted exterior of three story historic home.
