Allied Paving

Workmanship was extremely poor. Driveway was not level and graded properly. Damaged the sidewalks as well. Customer service is a joke. It took 4 weeks to even discuss the issues of which they are not willing to address any of them. Definitely a company to avoid!

Showed up one day to do the preparation work and the next day put down the blacktop. The crew was fast and efficient. Very happy with the work👍👍

They were a little slow to get started on the job, but, once they came, they were professional, thorough, & did an excellent job.

The crew arrived in a timely manner, answered all of my questions as the job went along, finishing when they said they would. Afterwards cleaning up, leaving a good looking driveway representing their professional work. This reviewers been written one year after the work has been finished. I would hire this company again, they earned an A+ on this job

Came and gave us a price, price was better then another contractor and a lot more paving. We now call the drive the I 75 bypass. They did a perfect job , it looks great after 1 year. Had it sealed by them this year , Great job. My friend next door was a supervisor on the Ohio turnpike and knew paving , he said they did everything right +. I would recommend this company with no hesitation.

Prompt quote and answered questions I had. They called night before, showed up on time next day, removed old driveway, smoothed and compacted base. Came two days later (delayed by rain) and poured new asphalt, rolled and compacted. No damage to adjacent garden or trees. Workers were friendly, knowledgable, and professional. I appreciated the extra care they took. Cleaned up afterwards. Received a little book about caring for our new driveway.

Quotes requested from 3 Angie's List contractors with 2 very quick responses. Allied's quote was the lower by about 16% (and both quote specifications were identical). Communication with Allied was excellent and the job progressed as scheduled. Timeline: one day to remove the old driveway and a second day to prep and install the new asphalt paving. Very neat job, good cleanup and no paving spilled over onto adjacent lawn, sidewalks or garage concrete floor. No damage to irrigation heads located very close to the driveway (it probably didn't hurt that I flagged those heads before demo and installation). The result is a very nice, appropriately graded driveway with a crack and pothole-free surface.

I give the price and quality criteria more weight, which is why I give an excellent rating overall. I had three firms quote on the work and Allied was the lowest by a fairly wide margin. Given this, I was concerned that the quality may not be as high as the other firms, however, I took a chance with Allied noting they have been in business a long time and I found no complaints about them on BBB or Angieslist.com. Allied came to meet me at my home and listened to what I wanted to do in order to prepare an estimate. The estimate included sub-contracting part of the job to a tree removal service since part of the drive was installed through some woods on my property. This process went smoothly, with a representative of the tree removal service coming to meet the Allied representative and me at the time of the first visit. Allied provided a quote on a timely basis with adequate detail regarding the work to be done. The amount quoted by the tree removal service was passed directly to me with no mark-up by Allied. Prior to starting the work, Allied spray painted the ground with an outline of how the drive would look based on the general overview I had given them at the time of the quote. The final design of the drive exceeded my expectations and improved on my "vision" of what it would ultimately look like. Allied (and the tree removal service) installed the drive over the course of about 10 days, including tree removal, excavation, laying down stone, waiting a few days for the stone to settle (normal part of the process), then paving. Allied even leveled the gravel driveway that leads to the paved portion that they were installing. This was not part of the quote and they did not charge me for it. This was a nice "extra" that probably cost them nothing (they had the equipment already there), but clearly exceeded my expectation of them. My only complaint (and it is a minor one) about the actual physical installation is that they did not smooth out the dirt to the edges of the new drive, so there are places where the adjacent yard is not flat and where the stone substrate shows. In fairness, I don't know whether this would typically be included in this type of job or not. Also, it was not specifically part of the quote. I rated responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism lower. Allied indicated when I accepted their bid approximately when they would be scheduling the work, a period of several weeks later. I had no issue with the time delay as I did not have a particular date in mind for completion, however, the time period they indicated came and went with no contact. I had to contact them to find out what was going on. They did schedule the work shortly following that contact, indicating a certain date they would arrive. They did not come on that date and I had to contact them again and they indicated they were finishing another job. As noted above, I was not concerned with a delay, but I do expect a call to let me know what's going on. Overall I am very pleased (notwithstanding the items noted in the previous paragraph) and would heartily recommend Allied for this type of work.

I would continue to use them.

They were professional. Things got delayed by rain but it was an act of god that they came out when they were scheduled to come out. They did a good job. I was happy with the price.

They are a local company and I know all the local guys. I got bids from 3 of them and picked the guy I liked. They were great and gave me a very reasonable quote. They did a good job, did what they said and came when they said they would. The bill was exactly the way they said it would be. They showed up this spring and gave us a great price for putting on the sealer and finishing the job. I am very pleased with the work they did; they are honest and reliable. I will use them again in the future.

Generally very well. I had some initial concerns due to what I perceived as "hemming and hawing" over whether the work would be done in 2 days (would soil under old cement be dry enough to lay down base), but we had dry weather and there was no problem with the work being done in two days. They did everything they promised and office staff called the night before to let us know that we were on the next day's schedule. Work quality seems good and they were pretty tidy.
