I hired this company to diagnose the reason I was getting water in my basement after heaviy rains. I haved lived in this house over 30 years and never had a water problem until last summer. The manager/owner told me I needed to replace the drainage tiles underground on the northside and south side of my house. He never mentionsed doing anymore than that even though water was coming in at the corner of the northwest side and flowing along the wall to the southside. There was never any water on the southside of the basement. He also wrote on the work order" do downspout work, which they never did.In order to do the work it was neccessary to remove some of the existing concrete floor and floor tiles. However, when I hired the installer to replace the floor tiles, he cound not put tiles where the new concrete was poured because the new portion of the concrete floor was not level or smooth enough to lay floor tiles. When I informed Action Sewer Cleaning & Plumbing of this problem,The manager/owners exact words were " if you wanted a smooth floor you should have told us before we started." So in other words, too bad now. I was under the impression that if you removed a tiled floor that was smooth and level when you started you shoud replace it the way you found it. The manager/owner verbally told me that all of their work was guaranteed.Unfortunately, I did not carefully read the work order because nowhere does it say anything about a guarantee. The only guarantee they provide is the manager/owner will come look at your problem, blame you for the problem, but do nothing about it. The work order was hand written in what I call "hyroglifics". Which is probably why it was difficult to read and I did not notice downspout work had been added to the original work order. After the recent heavy rain I got water in the basement again in the same area as before.I called to company to make sure tne sump pump was working properly. The manager/owner inspected the pump, said it was working ok; but he blamed me for the water in my basement because I did not have my entire basement waterproofed and my downspouts still needs work that they were supposed to do. I was very upset with this company because I relied on their expertise to diagnose my problem and do what was neccessary.I never refused to do anywork. Now their only solution is to dig up the west side of my basement, create a big mess for me to clean up. It would have been so much easier to do it all at the same time. I'm still trying to clean up from the work that was done last year. The last comment I want to make is when you first contact this company the manager/owner is very pleasant and friendly to you. However if you have a problem their atttude is completely dfferent. They are rude and short tempered. Considering the work that was done in my basement I have no way of know if it was done correctly, short of digging up the floor again and having it inspected. For these reasons I gave them low marks. I would never under any circumstances call this company again or recommend them to anyone. Lastly,They have the audacity to print on their work order in bold letters,"Thank You! God Bless You! The men who performed the work were pleasant and professional my low marks reflect my experience with the manager/owner(Greg).

Response from Action Sewer & Drain Cleaning
In September 2014 it was discussed and recommended with the customer that to alleviate the water issue, her entire basement would need to be waterproofed. Customer only wanted half of the basement done which we did and completed in November 2014. The work in the part of the basement that we completed did not fail during the recent heavy rains we have been having and is still guaranteed. Yes we do have the heart and spirit of having "Thank You! God Bless You!" on our receipts that we are not ashamed of and that will not diminish because of anyone trying to judge someone else. Thank You! God Bless You!

Steve did a wonderful job of installing this system. I called on Tuesday and they were out on Wednesday at exactly the time they said they would be. In addition to this installation, I asked if he could do anything about a loud gurgling sound that was coming from a newly-installed primary sump pump by a partner company. Though he said it was difficult to resolve that issue with this style of pump, I came home later that day and it was running as quiet as could be. I appreciated their extra effort and professionalism in resolving that issue. I will definitely have Action Drain come again for any service needs I may have.

It was a terrible experience. I heard about Action when an appliance store recommended them to hook up water line for my refrigerator. So then I looked them up on Angie's List to see the reviews about them. I just feel like I was really taken advantage of as I was in the processing of moving when my husband of almost 25 years passed away. My son came home from Mexico and he was going to live with me. So he was staying in a hotel until we could get moved. He helped me move and the day he was to move in with me, I could not get ahold of him and I got a call later that night that he had fallen in the bathroom, hit his head and passed away. This was only 6 weeks after I lost my husband. I just wanted to give this information so you know what I was already going thru. About 3-4 months after I moved into the house, I started to have a problem with the tub and toilet backing up. I called Action in Sept 2012 and they came out and cleaned out the drain for $65.00. It did not last long and it happened again. They came out again and he looked under the house at the plumbing. It had the old cast iron pipes still and I had a cast iron tub in the bathroom. He stated that the cast iron needed to come out and be replaced. He also lead me to believe that the cast iron tub needed to come out as well because of the cast iron plumbing. So to get out all the cast iron plumbing and he said clean out under the house and remodel the bathroom I was written an estimate of: Tear out old drain system in crawl and replace with PVC $995.00; Tear out bathroom, replace new tub and wall surround, new moen or delta fixture and all plumbing for vanity and toilet was $2,399.00. Water proof crawl $4000.00. (Now when you look at this write up, it is misleading as it states at the bottom and quot;Total Joband quot; $4,000.00) When I questioned it, he said no that is why there is 3 different prices on this quote. Now my bathroom is extremely small as my house is only 1100 square foot. You barely have room for a tub, toilet and 19and quot; sink. Then I had to buy my own flooring, paint, vanity, vanity top, and fixture for the sink. I even paid an additional $120 for 4 new vents for the crawl space. He told me what size vanity to buy, so I bought one that was the same set up as the old one, with the drawers to the right. They started on the plumbing under the house September 2012. They had to cut out a new crawl space as they were putting a sump pump down there too and it would not fit down the original crawl space. So they cut out a new crawl space in the middle of the laundry room floor. That work took several days. But even when they cut the crawl space opening, they did not even cover my washer and dryer which were brand new and I have scratches from the sawdust all over the front of them. They did not clean it up and I had to do that. Once that job was done they started working on my bathroom in October 2012. They had told me they would take it down to the studs, but they only did that where the tub was. The found black mold, but told me they took care of that and I was very concerned about that as I have allergies and asthma. I did not get to pick out the tub or surround as he said it will be a good one. I said I wanted the toilet that sat up higher and he called that a handicap toilet. He said that was more expensive so I had to pay another $100 for that. I also wanted the toilet and sink to trade places. They told me that could not be done. (later however, I found out that can be done, so when I confronted him with that, he said he never said it could not be done, he said it would cost more. That is not what he told me and my brother was here too) The first time they said they were done, I went in there and my vanity wobbled badly. I ran out and got them quickly and they came back in and supposedly fixed that. He also charged me another $100 as the bathroom vanity had to be cut in the back for the sick to fit and they had to replace the shutoff valve because the sink did not fit right. They also charged me another $925.00 to remove the old floor, install 3/4and quot; plywood on the floor and 1: plywood under the tub. Lay the vinyl flooring, which I already purchased, install new exhaust fan and new trim molding, and then repair bad areas on the drywall where needed to make it look nice. (When the whole bathroom was originally supposed to be gutted down to the studs). They used a black tarry substance under the vanity top to seal it to the vanity itself and they had it smeared down the one side. My cabinet is not even a dark wood so this stood out like a sore thumb. I also remember him not being able to figure out the faucet on the tub. He stated he was taking the booklet home to look at it to figure it out. Well when he came back, he said the water line was backwards, so he reversed my water lines. When you set anything on my vanity that could roll, it rolled down into the sink as the vanity top was not level. They put a silicone around the top and bottom of the base boards which every time I swept everything would stick to it. My shower curtain rod was so close to the corner of the other wall that you could not pull the shower curtain closed, plus it was so loose it was hanging down. My towel rod was falling off the wall. The ceiling where they put up the new exhaust fan was a mess as was the wall where they replaced the toilet paper holder. I paid extra to have the blemishes on the wall fixed and they made more even worse spots. The vanity was so close to the toilet, that your butt cheek would hit the sink cabinet when you sat down. They came back to clean the black tarry stuff off the side of the sink, which they scrapped off with a razor blade and had to use the cover up sticks that come with good wood products. And the vanity, which I had to have custom made because it is so small, cost a lot, has a very noticeable blemish that they should have noticed when they took it out of the box. They did not say anything and had cut it before I noticed it so it could not be replaced. The vanity being unleveled when things rolled off, they said it was because of the floor and there was nothing they could do about it. He tried to put the towel rack back on, but it was still very loose and he said that was the best it could be. The tub fixture, he denied taking home the book that came with it, even though I told him he wanted to read so he could figure it out right. But he still denied he did that and said it is right. They did not caulk right around the tub, so they came back and did that, and some of that is even lifting off already. When my brother came over again, he said the base board they put in was not the correct product for base boards. I called to complain again and he said he was going to send out another guy named Vaughn to take a look at everything. Vaughn came out and looked at the work. He could see there were issues. He fixed the towel rack right then as it had fallen completely off the wall by then. He also fixed the tub faucet correctly so now the water lines were reversed. He said he had a huge job he was doing then and it would be several weeks before he could come back. Well over a month went by without a word. so I called the company again and the owner said Vaughn has been held up and asked me to give the original guy another chance to make it right. He supposedly fired the other 2 that were working with him and he had a new crew. I finally agree to give him a second chance. When I complained about the toilet being so close to the sink. The owner said he would come move the sink over 4and quot;. When he got there I told him it cannot be moved that much or it would be right up against the tub. I said 2and quot; would be enough. Well he did move it but grumbled about it stating this was a $250 job moving the plumbing over, but he was doing it for free. Well he did it and left a huge hole in the wall where he moved the plumbing. It is only visible when you open the door of the vanity, but I asked him if he was leaving that big hole there and he said yes, he will just have the next guy push come insulation in the hole. So I was now back to the original guy to work on my bathroom. He called the day before to see if he could come LOOK at what all needed to be done. So he came out, and had every intention of working on it that day. I told him he said he wanted to come LOOK at what needed to be done, not do the work that day as I had another appointment scheduled for that day and could not stay there. He said he was bonded so he could just stay and work, but I was having no part of that after the job that had already been done. So he was not happy. I told him he needed to schedule time with me as I have a job. Well many weeks went by with no return. I called the owner again and I told him he had his second chance and I did not want him back. He said ok, he would get someone else. Well I got a call from someone else and he asked if he could come out to LOOK at what needed to be done. He came out and the guy I had already given 2 chances came with him. I told him, I did not want his services and he said he was just there to tell this new guy what needed to be done. Again they came planning on working. This was at 10:00 in the morning and I had some place I had to be soon. I told him again you did not call to schedule the work, you called to LOOK at the work to be done. This guy lived about 1 hour away, and I felt bad, so I told them I would be back in a couple of hours and he could come back then. This guy came back and made the bathroom LOOK ok, definitely not professional. He just covered the hole with a piece of wood rather than dry walling it again. There is paint on my vanity I cannot get off. But it was better and I was tired of dealing with them, so it was done. My plumbing backed up 2 more times. They cleaned it out free the first time, but the second time he said he could not keep doing this for free. (There is lots more to this so I am submitting a second review as a continuation to this story. This is by no means the worst of it yet. Please continue to read the second half of this story)

I had originally contacted someone else to clean it out but they were unable to come. After looking at Angie's list I chose Action Sewer because of the reviews. I called around 10 am on Wednesday. I was told they had 4 or more jobs before me and it might be later in the day, but they would call me before coming out. I was a little antsy and called them around 4pm knowing it may be later but wanted to be reassured they would be out. Message was left. I was contacted back within 15-20 minutes letting me know they would be out. I was also called by the crew that would be coming out and told they would be there as soon as they were done with the job they were doing then. Around 7 pm (which was fine with me) the crew called they were on their way. They were at my home within 10 minutes. I showed them the floor drain, the drain pipes(?) and where the main floor drain was. The water was coming up through the main floor drain. They assessed the problem and felt the best solution was to go to the main floor drain. I have carpeting in the basement. I told them it was fine to cut it if need be. They did have to cut it. However, the young man cutting it was very meticulous to cut it straight and it an square that when put back you would not know it was cut. The two young men in the crew did what they had to to unplug the sewer and now everything is fine. Both gentlemen were polite, quick to do their job, and cleaned up. No mess left! I can also say they were very quiet coming in and out of the house. I will definitely use this company again if need be.

We need to have our tile cleaned on a regular basis, decided to try a new company to see how they did. They did a very thorough job, though the seemed to be more used to working on older houses that don't have tile. The service was good but the price wasn't necessarily any better than other companies I had worked with.

Excellent responsiveness - even on the Monday Labor Day Holdiday. They found the trouble and fixed is at a very reasonable cost. They were able to correct the problem by snaking 2 floor drains in the basement. I couldn't have asked for more from them.
Description of Work: Drain in floor of basement backing up.
Description of Work: We used them 4/13 to clean floor drain. we brought them back following week [4/20] with a 2-man crew to run sanitary line from house to city main line. This is about 110' run and owner didn't have equip with him on 4/13. His son and a helper came the second time with equip to do the long run. In future we will do bi-annual preventative cleaning, just having the 2-man crew do both at same time. should be cheaper.

They call 1/2 hour before they arrive so you can be there. They are quick to get to the problem and start the work while being very respectful of your property. If they run into unforeseen problems and change the time or cost factors, they let you know right away.
Description of Work: I have a rental house in south Toledo that has tree roots that grow into the sewer pipes. Action Sewer has taken care of this problem by clearing the pipes regularly so it will drain freely. They deal directly with the tenants so I don't have to be in the middle making arrangements between them. I have used Action Sewer for many years. We have several rental properties and I can always count of them to do the job and keep the tenants happy. They are professional, timely, and the price is right for the job done each time I call them. They have tackled some very difficult plumbing problems over the years but have never disappointed me.
