The initial fence experience was amazing. They were much cheaper than the other companies, they were prompt, their service amazing and the finished product absolutely beautiful!!! I have recommended them over and over. But I will not any more. After 5 years a couple of posts rotted off at ground level. No problem, that happens. I called several times to have them replace the posts and spoke with a few very nice people who kept telling me they'd have various managers call me back. I never got a call back. On my calls, I asked if they could come replace the posts, I asked if they could just deliver the posts, I asked if I could stop buy and pick up a couple posts, I asked if I could purchase the posts so my husband could do it. I didn't expect them to do it for free, I fully intended to pay them for the replacement. Because their posts are so unique and beautiful, replacing them is nearly impossible. Luckily my dad can carve and made me a few, but if you don't know a carver you're just out of luck. I am so very disappointed with the follow up service. This isn't how you make long term customers.

While Mae Fence website is impressive, promising to give every customer respect, attention, and very best effort, we were greatly disappointed. Our experience was frustrating and upsetting due to lack of communication from the owner and the office personnel to us regarding permits, utility safety precautions and follow up, regardless of multiple inquiries. It was like they had no process in place and no one knew what they were doing. And if all that wasn't enough aggravation, the day of our install, no one showed. Luckily Angie's List provided me the owner's email, and I sent him an email (only way to contact him as no one at the office answered the phone or returned my calls). He returned my email to say he had called me 2:00p the day before the install and left a message (I did not receive his voicemail) and said there was a funeral. Most people know about funerals at least 3-7 days prior but whatever the case, he or his office should have made certain they contacted the customer to apologize, explain, reschedule. Leaving a voicemail is not satisfactory (which by the way I received a few days later on my phone and his message was cut off after 1 second). The crew did arrive the next day to install. More frustration as the crew did not know the explicit details of our fence project (where exactly fence is to be built, how to address the utility cable, how to address the cement and asphalt section). We had to supervise every step of the build. More frustration, when the fence builders asked for balance due upon completion, they insisted on full price, not taking into consideration the ~$2400 deposit we paid in advance (their paperwork did not reflect the deposit we had paid). We are happy to say that the crew's service and workmanship were amazing, but very likely they were subcontractors and had their own code of ethics and not the owner's.

Salesman was professional. Excellent, crew, did great job.

Very pleased with my new fence. Adam came out in answer to my request for a fence. Answered all my questions. Fence installed several weeks later in less than 6 hrs by 3 men. During the installation I called Adam a couple times with questions and he returned the calls as always within about 10 min. Was always professional and polite as were the men installing the fence. After completion there was one post and a fence board which needed to be replaced--they sent someone out in 2 days and replaced them with no question. Very pleased with all concerned. This was my first experience in installing a fence.

I went to their shop, they were extremely helpful and took care of my issue right away!!!!

I contacted Mae to get these issues fixed. I spoke with Barb who assured ne that issues would be repared. After waiting 3 to 4 months, I contacted Mae and they did not know anything about this issue. Barb no longer worked there. It took several calls to get an estimate. Several more months passed and fence has noot been fixed. I called Mae and spoje to owner Tim who apologized and set a date for this issue to be fixed. On the scheduled date, Mae fence did not show up. I texted and called Tim . He answered 1 day later saying he was in Chicago and would get back to me when he got back to office. The next day not hearing from him. i called the main number. The staff had no idea why noone showed up and could not tell me when the fence would be fixed. Tim never called me personally as promised. Office staff was not responsive to my calls. Several more days went with no respone. Finally, the fence got fixed at a later date. This is not a way to do business and I would not recommend this company. I am shocked that this company has any good ratings if this is an indication how they do business.

The initial removal and install went without a hitch. The fence turned out to be more sturdy and beautiful than we expected. We were happy. The problem now is that we asked them to add an additional gate. The workmanship, customer service and whole experience have been horrible. First the scheduled times to put in the new gate came and went. Then 2 men came out and installed the new gate, leaving before I could inspect their work. Their work was not close to the workmanship evident in our original fence. The boards are not lined up, the wood rubs, the original fence boards do not line up right anymore. It looks awful. Since it is visible from our patio, we get to look at it every evening and notice how it ruins the appearance of what used to be a beautiful fence. When I called Tim assured me that he would send out Danny or someone would come out to rebuild the gate. Again these scheduled appointments have come and gone- no show, no calls. I asked him to give us a call if there were any problems. They don't appear to care; before we were happy with Mae. Now we are thinking they only want to be good for the large projects, don't stand by their word/work. They have limited integrity. Beware.

I would hope most Mae Fence customers have a smoother experience than we have had. Everything started out really well. Our sales guy, Stephen Mills, came out. He was very friendly, set great expectations, provided us with a 0% financing option at Key Bank, and we were ready to move forward. We gave them our deposit and set an install date. We were responsible for obtaining the permit. We found out the previous owner had not obtained a permit and our neighbor also installed a fence around his property that was a different style and height aluminum fence than ours. I reached back out to Stephen and left voice mail after voice mail. I reached out to the home office. They said he had been sick but he would call me. When he did call me he did sound sick and came out to our house several days later and made the proper adjustments to the price and everything was back on track. If Stephen was as sick as he sounded on the phone, I'm a little disappointed that someone else wasn't sent out. Then the crew came out and removed most of the old fence and installed the new fence. In terms of the fence, everything looks good. I had asked Steven if they would survey and we wanted everything a foot inside the property line. That didn't happen. Not the end of the world, but example of poor internal communication. In terms of my property no so much. The "fence removal" consisted of numerous holes all around my property. Random pieces of concrete sticking out of the ground. Random pieces of wood base splinters sticking out of the ground. Random pieces of spikes, fencing material, and Gatorade/beverage bottles all around the property. Day 2 of the install was right after a larger rain storm. However the crew left and said they were done. I have a call into Mae Fence to come up and polish up some loose ends...but I would say the job was done well enough to be functional, perhaps it is seasonal volume but I do not have the impression Mae Fence takes pride in going above and beyond on the delivery side of the equation the first time around. I suspect that we will be dealing with install issues over the next several years. Buyer beware. I'm sure we could have done a lot worse; however, I would encourage folks to shop around. I do not feel like we settled on the best option/value.

The estimate was done in a timely manner and the fence specialist was very professional. They were priced the highest out of the 4 quotes I received but decided to go with them due to some fences that I've seen installed by mae fence in my community. The day of my install the crew arrived with red cedar wood panels. I was informed that they did not order this wood and if I wanted to reschedule and have the correct wood ordered that they would do so. After contacting the company, I was given a huge discount of 1000 dollars due to the mistake. The crew worked fast and hard and had the fence installed within 8 hours. After inspection of the fence I noticed several damaged boards. I called the company and was informed that they would have someone come out in 2 1/2 weeks to assess the fence and determine if any boards needed to be replaced. I have not heard anything from this company. I called and left another message yesterday regarding repair of fence as I notices nails popping out and a cracked board. See attached pics.

Things started out well. Sales guy was great - on time, gave us a quote on the spot. We were impressed and hopeful for a good experience. 1) We were told we would need to apply for the fence permit ourselves - so we did. Once it was approved we left a copy for the sales guy to pick up along with our deposit check. Then, a few days later we got a call from Mae Fence asking about how we planned to pay for our deposit and that they had applied for the permit. Obvious lack of communication going on within the company. 2) Sales guy told us that their "crew" would complete the job in 1 day - which is part of the reason we went with this company. Well, the "crew" consisted of ONE PERSON. And he showed up ALONE at 10:30 AM. We quickly figured out that it was going to take waaay more than one day. It took four days. We had planned to host Mother's Day dinner at our house but couldn't because the back yard was a big mud pit and the job wasn't complete. 3) Sales guy told us crew would take down a tree that was entwined in the metal fence they were going to remove as part of the job. Then, we were told by the fence builder that he wouldn't do it. We ended up having to remove the tree ourselves. 4) This work was being completed on a Saturday, yet the sales guy and the company was unreachable. If you are going to be operating on a Saturday, managers need to be able to reach management. When we finally talked to someone with the company we were met with excuses. The finished product is nice. The process to get there was way more painful than it had to be.

When they first arrived they remeasured and compared the measurements to the plot map and my markings. The Mae Fence lead realized I had marked one corner of the fence about a foot beyond my property line. I appreciate that he caught this and made the layout change to ensure the fence was on our property. I would recommend Mae Fence. They were punctual and professional. The fence looks great!

I purchased a new 5' cedar fence, 200 ft length total with scallop and posts. They were mid range in price but good price considering the scallop with dog ear and the posts. They were extremely prompt, the foreman spoke english/spanish fluently while the rest of the crew was Spanish speaking. I had just returned from a trip and slept through the installation which took approximately 3 hours. They use concrete to seal the posts in place which I thought was great. Upon bleary eyed inspection the fence appeared to be great. Upon closer (more awake) inspection I realized several of the board were cracked and some had the wood gnawed through a good portion of the board. I called and they were very responsive and said they would send someone out to repair the boards in question. It took approximately one week due to inclement weather. The man was very nice but unfortunately spoke or understood English (disclaimer I am of Latin background, I can understand Spanish mostly but speak very little) but we were able to get everything figured out. I didn't have them replace every cracked board, just the severely cracked ones. I will keep an eye out a the 2-3 boards during the winter that were slightly cracked. Overall, I do recommend, the fence is quite beautiful!

They finished the job in a day and it went very smoothly.

Tim and his crew are amazing!! He came out, gave us a quote, made some suggestions and was very friendly. Once we decided to move forward we had a tight time frame in which to get the work done and Tim pulled it off for us. The guys showed up yesterday morning, were very friendly, professional and did great work. In a matter of 8 hours they had torn down 2 sides of fencing and installed a whole new beautiful fence. I can't express enough what a fabulous job these guys did how much I appreciated everyone's hard work. If you are considering a new fence, call Tim at Mae Fence - you won't be disappointed.

Everything went well and the fence is beautiful. Mae's offered the best price and the work was done on time (with a few weather-related delays). They always returned calls and worked with me to make a few adjustments to the original fence plan.

A++! Adam came out to look at our fence project and gave us a quote within 10 minutes for what we thought was an extremely reasonable price. We decided to use Mae immediately. We had called another fence company who had come out a few days prior. The rep from that company did not provide us a quote until 4 days after visiting...and the quote was more than double what Mae Fence quoted us! Mae was also able to schedule us within 2 weeks instead of the 5 week time period quoted by the other company. Really astounding! Couple of other minor things we were impressed with that speaks to the way Mae Fence runs their business: --The business card that Adam has says that he is a "fence specialist" as opposed to the other company that said that the rep was a "salesman". Wouldnt you rather buy a fence from a specialist vs. a salesman? --the quote sheet from Mae was well-laid out, using visuals that made it easy to see that what we talked about in terms of fence construction was what he was quoting. The rep from the other company (okay it is Trudeau Fence--i can no longer hold that back) told us this was a "complicated job" and would take a "long time". Mae Fence completed our not-complicated fence in one day. I can't recommend them highly recommend enough.. BTW- this is my first Angies list review, typically not my thing.

Required a long (700' fence) to keep our newly acquired, rambunctious rescue dog safe from traffic. Salesperson Adam came out and did a nice job with estimate. We signed a contract specifying an install date and gave a $2000 deposit to Mae Fence Two weeks later, the owner came out demanding $600 more to clear honeysuckle from part of the path. I noted that Adam had seen the entire area and that it didn't seem fair to ask for more money now that they had my deposit, especially as the bushes didn't seem all that dense or all that lengthy. Then he said they couldn't start on the date agreed upon, as it would take so long to clear. I insisted they start on the agreed upon date but gave them extra time as needed, but I was very concerned about the safety of the dog. One week later, Mae sent me a Dublin, OH, fence permit request. It frankly looked as if it had been filled in by a child, but I figured they knew what they were doing and I signed it and scanned it back to them quickly. The Friday before the Monday start date, the office manager said they couldn't get the permit to go through as it was a front yard in Dublin. Concerned I went personally to the Dublin Development office. They were mystified. No permit request had been filed. Moreover the inspector knew my property and that the fence would be so far set back and hidden by mounding that there would be no problem with a permit. I called Mae Fence and told them of my concerns and insisted that they at least start work with the preliminary clearing and that I would take over the permit process. They refused and indicated there were "too many problems" and that they would refund my deposit (fortunately on a Visa). My surmise is that these issues were a function of greed, over-scheduling and incompetence. In any case, not ready for prime time. Caveat emptor. Rob Crane, MD, Dublin, OH.

The price was amazing for cedar compared to other companies. The work was done quickly and very well. There was some confusion between the office and the field rep during scheduling. However, they were nice to work with and responsive.

We needed a replacement privacy fence for our yard. We had three estimates from other Angie's List providers but thought that Mae Fence was the right value for us. The estimate was clear and detailed. Adam answered every question we had. On the day of installation the crew arrived on time and got right to work. We had permission from the neighbors for the crew to enter their yards to complete the work. The crew did so with minimal intrusion and cleaned up well.They worked until after six and returned the next day to complete the project. Everything was done to our satisfaction. Due to an oversight on our part they had to come back and install self-closing springs on the gates. This was not a problem and they did so without hesitation.

We had the Mae Fence Co. put on our 1 acer yard in March 2012. We had alot of contractors from other companies come and give us figures for the big yard and Mae Fence was the most reasonable in cost and detailed work. It has made our back yard looks like an English garden. The yard lowers down to the right side as far as drainage. Because of mother nature giving us such a biter cold winter last year - in that corner - our fence had risen alittle. I called - Tim called me right back, Barb got the visit set up and they came out and fixed all issues. They are a great company to work with.

This provider wasted my time. They failed to quote on the exact fence I asked them to replace. Repeatedly, they failed to follow up on phone calls and on the dates they were going to do the job. They did not show up to do the job on the date promised. They did not follow up to tell me it has been delayed to a second date. They did not show up for the second date. They did not tell me they had reschedule it to a third date a week later. They would not install the "exact same fence" that they were replacing. The fence they were going to install was only generally similar. I canceled my contract with them.

We got 3 or 4 estimates and ended up with Mae Fence. They were easy to work with and the estimate was very competitive. We had them install 195 feet of shadow board cheddar fence and it turned out great. One nice feature they offered was to do a rolling arch in the fence, which really adds a nice touch. They came out once to replace a few boards that I noticed had a few splits in them. The fence has held up great in the ~2 years we've had it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

The crew of three worked VERY hard. They were efficient, friendly, and did all that we asked. They cleaned up well, too. Great job guys! The fence looks amazing.

Had some troubles connecting for an estimate -- they cancelled the first appointment at the last minute and ended up being nearly 30 minutes late for the rescheduled appointment. As a result, the estimate itself ended up being rushed so I could get back to work. The price was the lowest I received, but I didn't feel I received enough information about the vinyl fence product itself to know whether it was comparable to the other products other companies use in terms of quality or the warranty. Mae didn't provide a brochure, a link to a website or even the name of the manufacturer/mill where they get their product. I noticed that the estimate sheet says it's the customer's responsibility to deal with permits and utility marking and such, which all the other companies I talked to handle for you. Ultimately, I didn't feel confident enough about Mae Fencing's product or service to take the low price and decided to go with another company with a higher price.

They were great; I love my fence. They customized the fence around my deck. They built it there, so it was not prefabricated. It is a cedar fence and high quality. They built around my property and had to customize it around the deck. I liked the product and the way they did it from scratch. They left some dirt lying around, so I had to fix that myself. I would use them again.
