Description of Work: The job was done in a punctual and professional manner, but I hesitate to give an unconditional endorsement due to some "surprises." The surprises were due to me not reading the small print for this deal more carefully. But, s I had no background or experience in staining a deck, the small print would not have meant much and hence the surprises. | |The first surprise was that I had to provide the stain. Not knowing anything about it Terry Betts advised me on what he recommended. It still required me to research on types of stains and how they were applied before I could make an informed decision on both type (transparency level) and color. At Terr's advice I purchased Behr's stain at Home Depot and he provided a contractor discount code that saved me 20%. Going out to the nearest Home Depot was the unexpected task. The cost of the stain, a solid color stain, was $63 for 2 gals. | |The second surprise was that it would cost extra to apply the solid color stain - only clear transparent stain was included in the deal. A third surprise was that extra cost was charged for staining the steps - I only had three. Terry quoted the extra cost for the solid stain and steps as $75, but when the workers stained and handed me the invoice the cost rose to $100. | |The final cost was $362 (Deal $199 + $63 stain + $100 surcharge). I had previously paid for an all included service of $300 so this was more than that and significantly more than the "deal" I thought I had purchased. | |I would have felt bad about it except the service provided was excellent and professional. Cleaning was done quickly on 1 Jun 2015 and a 2-man crew efficiently applied the stain on 3 Jun (although they missed two small spots by the deck door that I had to touch up with a brush). The cleaner and stainers were very friendly and answered all questions. They deserve credit (and tip). | |I answered that I would use this provider again in the future, but I would probably look for a more economical provider first. If I did go back to Deck Restoration with an Angie's List deal I would now know what the small print actually mean. | | | |

Description of Work: We were looking to get our patio power-washed and stained. They were very quick to reply & schedule an estimate. Terry was flexible with the time to meet, provided a detailed schedule of services and sent a the quote over the next day. Once we decided to move forward, they cleaned the deck within a few days and stained it the first available day. From first contact to completion, it was less than 2 weeks.

He also works with The Medics who trimmed out my windows, doors, and replaced siding. Terry will be power washing and repainting the aluminum siding within the next week. Top notch pros. A+++

Description of Work: This is already well documented through your Customer Service Department. In view of the poor quality of performance/product and unresponsiveness to a safety issue, I received a $100 refund from this vendor.

Description of Work: Terry Betts (Deck Doctor) was a very good contractor. He contacted me via e-mail and arranged to come out and review the deck to provide an estimate (deck is significantly larger than the Angie's List advertisement size and price). I believe that the total price was a good price for our size deck. He contacted me to schedule the work (I decided to buy all of the deck sealant so that I would have material for the next application). He did a very careful (but thorough) job with the power washing to avoid damaging the surface of the deck. Fortunately the weather cooperated with a hot sunny day the next day. The deck was thoroughly dry for the subsequent application of the sealant. He and his workers removed all of the furniture (and grill) from the deck, and replaced it on the deck after the sealant was applied. Deck looks great. I would use his services again.

Description of Work: Power washed and stained my 16 X 20 wood deck. Deck was partially green with mold from the shade. Power washing looked like it cleaned it all off. However, when the stain went on, some areas between the boards weren't cleaned and the stain would not adhere in those areas. Overall, deck looks nice

Description of Work: We hired the Deck Doctor to power wash and paint our deck. Because of almost daily rain, it took about 3 weeks of scheduling to get the work done. Terry kept in contact with us letting us know how soon they could paint the deck. The deck was power washed in between rainy times. Of course we needed a dry deck before they could paint. Since our deck was larger and had an arbor we had no problem getting a reasonable quote for the additional work. We are very happy with our renewed deck and would gladly use Terry and the Deck Doctor if we need further work done.
