We did get new windows. We used Solar Supply Center. They were here in June. I liked the windows and I liked the salesman. I had trouble with one of the people that was doing the work. He was not insulating like he was suppose to on the window and it was leaving gaps. I did call the owner and the owner came out, got things straightened out immediately, after that everything was great. The owner went far and beyond, you know, he actually came to the house and had it corrected immediately. The price was excellent, we weren't expecting it to be that low. Excellent responsiveness. I would only because the owner went out of his way to make things the way I wanted it. They got it done right away.

Thank you Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed] for the opportunity to serve you. We appreciate the kind words and candid remarks regarding the work we did for you. Replacing an old sidelight with glass block can look beautiful if done correctly with proper trim around the mortar joints. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed] for the opportunity us to provide your 2 apartment buildings with new windows and exterior coil. Please express our thanks and gratitude to all of your tenants as well. We like the challenge of getting all the work done on time and at budget as promised. Coordinating the installation around every one living in one building does take extra time and effort to make the transition from old windows to new windows. Especially if we are doing 2 apartment buildings at the same time. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve you and the opportunity to increase the comfort level for your tenants.

This is a great local company. I was impressed from my first conversation with them. I was conducting a price comparison for glass block but was having trouble getting decent pricing as most companies would only give price breaks for four windows or more (I only had three!). I called in and spoke to AJ who said they would honor a price I saw in the Gold Clipper. They scheduled a walk through a few days later. For the walk through, they called prior to coming and the consultant Herminio was punctual and professional. He looked at each window and talked about needs and how the process would go. He was very clear about what we needed to to do prep (not much!) and what the guys would do when they were here. We discussed price and it was exactly what I was quoted on the phone from AJ. We paid half down and Herminio said the office would call to set up the installation. A few days later Mike called and said they had an opening that weekend and they could fit us in. We were thrilled but had a very tight timeline due to an event later in the day. Unfortunately a job they were d*** ran long and they were unable to come after all that weekend. But, Mark (might have been Mike!) called and early in the day to tell me they had trouble at another job and schedule us for three days later. On installation day, at the time they promised, the office called to let me know the guys were on their way. George Jr. and Jorge showed up and were courteous and professional. They kept us posted as the job progressed and showed us work as it was completed. They walked me through each window inside and out ofter the job was done. I don't know anything about window installation and the windows have only been in for a few days but they do look great. We'll see how everything goes over time but at this point, I am very happy with the work! Also, it honestly looked like no one had been in my home when they left. The clean up was amazing. Bottom line: Very good company to work with. Very communicative, honest and gave good pricing. Their employees are knowledgable and care about the work they do. I am a big fan and will definitely use them again!

No Problems. I stopped at the store. Mark had no problem giving me a conditional price. I didn't want the hassle of an in home estimate if the price was going to be out of the question. Herminio was on time for the home estimate and it was the same as Marks Installers showed up as promised and work was completed to my satisfaction. They insisted on my final inspection which was a good idea because the siding was a bit off but they fixed that right away. I need a couple of bedroom windows and will call them again.

I paid $1100.00 on November 5 and then they came on November 25th to install. The person who came to do the installation started at 4:00 and did 11 windows in 3 hours. The job was very rushed and he even admitted today that it was rushed because it got dark out. I let him know that he should have come back the next day instead of rushing. I paid the other half at the end of the job and they left. The windows are bad, there is cold air coming in the house and there are gaps where you can see daylight through them. The trim is messed up and they took my storm windows off which they didn't need to do. They trashed the outside of my house because I have aluminum siding. They left their trash and broken glass all through the house and in the backyard.

Dear Angie’s List: Please accept this letter as response to the review sent by [member name removed] The statements made by [member name removed] are beyond insulting, they are falsehoods in an attempt to defame our company and we feel to extort money and/or services. We are currently seeking legal advice to combat this potentially damaging review. We have always gone above and beyond to do a great job and please our customers. Three staff members of our company came to [member anem removed] home for our appointment. The house, as we discovered, was a total rehab. She told us: “it was a foreclosed home which needs a lot of work as you can see”. The home was torn down to the bare wood and sub-floor. There was no drywall, no bathroom or bedrooms, the ceilings were ripped down to rafters, and all of the windows had their framing (the wood which holds the windows in place) exposed and falling apart. [member name removed] had workers on-site working on insulating the open walls and various carpentry work. We were alarmed at the condition of the window frames and sills as we measured each window. Many window frames and sills were severely damaged or rotted with rusted nails holding the frames together. AJ, explained to [member name removed] the sills and framing of all the windows need to be replaced before we can install the windows. AJ offered to provide new framing and sills. AJ also told her the windows will need capping on the exterior. He then offered this necessary service to her. She admitted she had 9 other window companies at her project home. She told us the other companies mentioned the same thing regarding her sills, frames, and exterior capping. [member name removed] declined the needed carpentry and exterior capping work. She told us she did not want to have us cap the windows on the exterior because she was going to get vinyl siding and she did not want to pay twice for capping windows. She said she would be doing the prep work (sills, framing, interior trim, and capping). We measured the windows and gave the exact measurements to Stephanie and her carpenters for the new frames to be built. Again, this discussion took place in front of [member name removed], her 2 carpenters, and 3 Solar Windows staff members. ([member name removed] partner [member info removed], we believe his name is, was NOT present at the appointment). [member name removed] said to her carpenters she would discuss labor price for the rebuilding of the window openings after our appointment was over. The quote for the job was given based on the scope of the work she agreed upon. [member name removed] called us about a week later to sign the deal. We explained to her the day she signed the contract (November 5, 2014) once the contract is signed it will take approximately 2 to 3 weeks for the windows to arrive from the manufacturer. We wrote on the top of her contract: “Windows should be in by Dec. 2nd.” Stephanie contacted us after 1 week asking if her windows were in. We told her they have not arrived. Her response was: “I knew you guys were full of $H!T by telling me they would be in, in a week.” We responded: “we never told you or anyone that their windows will arrive in a week. We will call you the day they are available for install.” We realized she was in a rush to have the windows installed. So as a courtesy we contacted Stephanie the day the window delivery arrived around 12:30pm, Tuesday, November 25th. We immediately contacted Stephanie and asked her if she would like to have the windows installed today. She said: “yes, I am at the doctor’s office and will be at the property in an hour”. We waited an additional 30 minutes for her to arrive. Based on the EXPECTED scope of work required by our company, 11 windows could have been properly installed in the same day. When we entered the home we were shocked to see NOTHING WAS PREPARED as discussed and agreed upon. Instead of preparing the openings, she skipped the necessary steps, had new dry wall hung, and the old, unsupported frames remained. We pointed out most of the sills are missing creating large gaps, the supporting window frames which hold the window secure, were missing, and no cavities were insulated. When we asked her why the openings were not prepared per the agreement she said: “don’t worry about it, just put the windows in, I’ll take care of everything afterwards”. We removed the old windows as carefully as we could. Some of the supporting frames began to shift and move due to the missing support framing which should have been replaced before the new drywall was hung. Per our contractual agreement, we were to ONLY level and install new windows. The customer to do necessary interior and exterior work as agreed. Because the window openings were not properly prepared we had to do the additional work as follows: ● Removal of old windows (customer’s responsibility) ● Removal of storms (customer’s responsibility) ● Secure the old frames w/o damaging drywall (customer’s responsibility) ● Caulk Exterior of windows (customer’s responsibility) ● Hauling away of old windows (customer’s responsibility) ● Trash and old window disposal fees (customer’s responsibility) ● Fiber insulation around windows (customer’s responsibility) ● Foam Insulation around windows (customer’s responsibility) All of this work cost us considerable amount of time and money. None of these items were part of the agreement and scope of work. The caulking and foam were done as a good-will gesture to satisfy Stephanie. Due to the additional workload, WE told Stephanie we would have to return to for minor interior work and to clean up the outside (it was dark outside at this point). Stephanie said fine. She told our installers she was happy with the work and paid the balance. We were told by [member name removed] to contact Joe to set up the return appointment. The next day we contacted her husband (or boyfriend)[member name removed] to ask if we could come by and finish, he did not return our call until late in the afternoon. We made an agreement to show up after Thanksgiving weekend. [member name removed] contacted us on Monday, December 1, 2014 asking us to come and finish the job. We agreed to return on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. When we arrived we met her partner Joe for the first time. ● He pointed out there were large gaps below the windows (where the sills should have been installed by the customer). ● He also said the windows were twisted and not level. (The framing was not done by the customer). ● He did not like the pink, fiber insulation we used. (which they were supposed to install themselves). ● He was unhappy with the look of the exterior. We showed him the storm windows were improperly screwed to the siding (which was supposed to be removed prior to install by the customer). [member info removed] was not present when we offered the necessary services which [member name removed] declined. We believe [member name removed] did not communicate with [member info removed] that she declined our offers to do the preparatory work for a fee. We also believe [member name removed] did NOT tell [member info removed] that our installers were instructed by [member name removed]to install the windows regardless of the condition of the old framing, sills, storms, etc. IN CONCLUSION: Proper window installation requires the following: ● Careful removal of the existing window ● Preparing the opening to accept the new window ● Making sure the installed window is level, square, and plumb ● Insulating the perimeter of the window ● Finishing the interior with caulk and some type of interior trim ● Finishing the exterior with capping to protect the window and framing from the elements. In a cost cutting move, [member name removed] chose to do everything mentioned above except installing and leveling the window. She had carpenters on site. She assumed the majority of responsibilities of the installation. We at Solar Windows work with many contractors which do the same thing. They hire us to only place the window. They have hourly workers on-site to finish the installation. [member name removed] subtracted several vital steps of the installation from the price and failed to prepare the openings as agreed and finish the openings as agreed. [member name removed] pressured us to do the job under the current conditions. Our attempt to satisfy her led to more (and uncharged) work for the installers and our company. When a customer has a legitimate concern or product issue, we listen and address the need immediately. We attempt to go above and beyond to achieve a positive result for our customer. This is not the case regarding [removed member name] windows and her installation. She now wants a full refund and we feel she is using the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s list to coerce us into it. It is for these reasons we are seeking legal advice from our attorney. We will do everything within our legal right to protect our reputation of providing good services to our customers. At this time we will not offer any type of services to [member name removed]. We ask that they do not contact us in any manner. We also ask the representatives of the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s List to close this complaint and do NOT publish it for the public as her complaint violates the policies of the Better Business Bureau and Angie’s List.

The service provided was fantastic. AJ came out and gave me a detailed estimate. I decided to go with Solar Windows because AJ demonstrated that he cared about our experience with their company and could work with the tight timeline that we had to work with. He showed me the windows that they would install and pointed out how durable the windows were. The lifetime warranty is a great perk too. His team came out and was very professional. They stayed a little longer than normal to make sure it was all done right. We had just painted, and I was extremely impressed with how careful they were around our new paint. They also covered furniture and left the house clean after installing the windows.

Solar Windows re-installed 4 windows in my home. I bought these 4 windows at a big box home store 5 years ago and they were originally installed by a handyman friend who did a poor job and the windows were leaking both air and water. After dealing with this problem for the last 5 years, I was looking for a company that really knew how to install windows properly, and fortunately I found the right people. Most window companies won't install windows unless they sell you the new window - I know, I called several other companies and that's the answer I got, and I was about to give up. Fortunately, Solar was willing to take on this job. After a minor scheduling glitch, the owner, AJ, came out to my house twice before the re-installation - once to provide an estimate and another time to do some prep work. Great customer service. On the day the work was done, the installers called in advance and showed up right on time. They told me it would take 2 to 3 hours, which it did. The lead installer, Ronnie, said that he has been installing windows for 15 years and he is not a subcontractor - he works only for Solar. That's the kind of guy you want installing your windows. He did highly professional work - he custom formed the vinyl coated aluminum framing for the exterior of each window on site for a perfect fit. My wife and I are so pleased and impressed. We finally have well-installed windows that will be air and water tight and the aluminum trim work they did matches my other windows so well that they look like they were original on the home. The price was also great - I couldn't be happier.

We are very pleased you gave us the opportunity to make things right and do a great job with your window re-installation. (We had a scheduling glitch in our calendar and missed our first appointment). We try very hard to exceed our customer's expectation. We know there are not many home improvement companies which will improve your existing windows by re-installing them correctly. They all want to sell you their product, that way they can charge more money and they don't have to match exteriors which takes extra time to do. But for our customer it's not always in the budget nor does it make sense to buy new (especially if you just had the product installed a few years earlier). Thank you again Mr. [Member] for allowing us to serve you well.

Contact was Joe Pero - likeable, down-to-earth and showed up before he said he was able to. Gave us estimate $40-100 below other companies. Returned my calls to him immediately. Said windows would be ready in September, but called last week August and said could be installed August 29th. 2-Man crew showed up on date, on-time. They were courteous, hard-working, efficient and cleaned up completely. For seven windows, took about 6 hours. The Lead Crew Member even fixed some faulty concrete we had by one basement window. His work was beautiful and we are grateful for his work. I would definitely hire Joe Pero again.

I know its hard to judge a company by just its reviews written by people you don't know. With that said, if you were deciding which company to install your windows or in my case reinstalled, its this one! I was not at the house when the work was being performed but my fiancé was. And according to her and after of seeing the finished product myself, we were blown away with the results. Ronnie called me prior to arriving at the house, to let me know where they were and when they were expecting to arrive. Ronnie, Ian and another guy (can't remember his name) came to work on the windows and were very knowledgeable, courteous, and easy to talk to. Their intentions were not just to do the work as quickly as possible and move onto the next house. Instead, they wanted to get the job done right, make the customer, us, satisfied with their work, and make a name for themselves and the company (since its relatively new). I am so glad that I found this company I hope you select them as well.
Description of Work: Reinstall all the windows in the house which consisted of: 1. Removing trim, adjusting windows, and insulating where necessary (in total 12 windows) 2. Cap exterior with white aluminum coil. Also, I will have my doors redone as well at a later date.

Thank you, [member name removed] for your honest and unabashed review. We realized years ago that professional installation is more than experienced men and women doing a job. Professional installation is going above and beyond to make your home look as good as it should. We were disappointed when we saw the way the previous window installation company installed your windows. This project was tricky because some of the windows were not framed, shimmed, nor insulated properly. We were excited to tackle the job because we know our prices are better than the bigger window companies and our work rivals the best of the best. Thank you again, [member name removed] for allowing us to serve you well.

Beautifully - they did the job with 2 weeks of contact - and the price - wow! 99 bucks for the two with vents and 80 bucks for the other 4 with no vents - this was literally 25 percent of the price that i was quoted by many other companies and they look great and block the previous air/cold that was coming in my warped single glass flip glass windows. Can't thank you enough, super nice owner and installers and again price - unbelievable!!!!
Description of Work: All new glass block windows in basement - 6 windows, 2 with vents
