I had bought a new home in Strongsville. I have never used a maid service in my life but felt overwhelmed with having to clean and move all on the same day, so I decided to get help. On the strength of advertising, I emailed Merry Maids on their website about a week in advance of moving asking for a cleaning appointment and got no reply. About a day or two before moving in I called Merry Maids and told them I had been trying to reach them about move in cleaning for my new home. A man, the manager /owner spoke to me and apologized that they had not scheduled me and was able to schedule 2 maids for the morning of the day I was moving in. I was thrilled. When I entered the new home it was reasonably clean, but I still wanted a maid service to go through and do a thorough cleaning since I was busy with all the work of moving. I wanted to be able to just move in and have clean cabinets to put my dishes in and clean floors and surfaces that had been sanitized in the kitchens and bathrooms mostly. I did not ask for vacuuming or wall washing or floor scrubbing, dusting or anything like that, since the house was empty and I was going to clean the carpets and paint the walls. It was supposed to be a "move in clean" where they clean the kitchens and bathrooms well , mop and sanitize all the surfaces, etc. so you can just move in and pull all your things away, without having to clean first. I was told it would be about $75 dollars per hour for 2 maids to come and clean. I figured it would not take more than an hour or two and so was worth it, the house is just not that big. The maids showed up on time and seemed very nice. I gave them instructions to definitely clean all the cabinets, appliances and surfaces in the bathrooms and kitchens and laundry room, inside and out and sanitize and then mop all floors (which was a kitchen floor, an entryway floor, bathroom floors and a laundry room floor. Since the house was empty and I had to go supervise movers at my old house, I left them there for about an hour and a half figuring they should be finishing up when I got back and I could pay them and start moving in. WRONG. I don't know what they did while I was gone. One girl said she was wiping windows, but most windows were not very clean. It appeared a few window sills had been wiped but clearly many were dirty and had not been touched. After I arrived back after an hour and a half, and nothing had seemed to be done, I hung out and watched over them the rest of the time. They worked very slowly and stopped to talk to me and each other several times. I actually saw a maid wipe the counter in the laundry room, I saw another maid damp wipe out loose bits of papers in a kitchen cabinet and sweep, then damp mop the kitchen floor. She also damp wiped the outsides of the kitchen appliances. It took both maids at least an hour and a half more just to do the things I saw. As far as I can tell, for the whole 3 hours, nothing else was ever done and nothing was sanitized. I don't know what they were doing while I was gone but it sure was not cleaning anything. EVEN THE KITCHEN SINK WAS STILL DIRTY AFTER THEY LEFT. A quick scrub with comet that I did brought the sink sparkling clean!!!! The insides of the kitchen appliances were not cleaned, neither the insides or the outsides of the kitchen cabinets and drawers had been cleaned. The washer and dryer still had dirt and lint in them and had not been wiped down inside or out, except the fronts of the doors. The tops and insides the doors and the barrels were still had dirt on them. The bathrooms were already very clean before the maids arrived, no toilets to clean, no bathtubs to scrub, no floors to scrub. But I had wanted everything that was already clean to be wiped down with a sanitizer. Maybe they did that maybe they did not, but I don't think it took an hour and a half (while I was gone) to wipe surfaces in a couple of bathrooms. Anyway, I had to move in on the dirt that was left after they supposedly cleaned. I broke my leg while moving and still had to go in and clean my new house. I was unable to unpack and had to clean with a broken leg among all the boxes and moved in stuff. It was hellish and I could hardly maneuver. I took pictures of the dirt inside the cabinets ,the kitchen drawers, the washer and dryer and the unmopped floors (except they had damp mopped the kitchen floor in front of me right before they left). When I wiped the cabinets, drawers and appliances down in the kitchen, there was grease, dirt and bits of paper/lint that came off on my cloth. I took pictures of the dirty areas (for example a puddle of grease in the oven drawer, spilled food not cleaned out of the refrigerator, dirt and grease on the cabinets and drawers, along with a picture of the blackened cloth after I wiped each item in my house, to prove that these items had NOT been cleaned or even wiped down lightly. I was taking so many pictures of dirt and dirty cloths that I finally gave up and just cleaned and sanitized everything myself. The maids may or may not have wiped down the counters, but they had not obviously not cleaned anything else. I called the owner/manager of merry maids but could not reach him. I texted him and told him I was unhappy with my cleaning and the price and I had pictures and wanted my money back. However, my leg was swelling, likely from having to clean with the new injury when I was supposed to be in bed with my leg up and I gave up trying to get a reply. Since then I have had complications with the leg and have not had the time or health to try to pursue this further to get my money back. I suspect, due to the length of time that has now passed because I have been sick they will blow me off. Why not? They blew me off twice at the beginning. All in all TWO Merry Maids "supposedly" cleaned my house for about 3 hours and then they charged me $250.00, when the estimate was supposed to be half that and I was promised way more work would be done. Working steadily, by myself, with boxes around me and having trouble with a broken leg, I cleaned the house as I had asked them to clean it in an hour and a half. They did not clean the dirt as asked for and paid for (and I have the pictures to prove it). I had to pay them, then turn around and actually clean everything myself after all. DO NOT CALL THIS MERRY MAIDS. I FEEL COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF. AND NO ONE WAS WILLING TO EVEN TRY TO MAKE IT RIGHT. I WAS JUST IGNORED.

Cleaning was more than satisfactory for the time they were there. Curtious and hard working. Had a hard time getting someone to return my calls initially. Office personal did not respond in a acceptable timeframe.
