I will start by saying: I'M NOT SURE HOW THIS COMPANY IS ALLOWED ON ANGIE'S LIST AT ALL. I realize they specialize in tree services, but they assured me they could do concrete work as well. I used them before for tree services, so I took them at their word. I did not think to check the BBB where I later learned they have an F rating. They required up front payment of 50% before starting work which should have been a red flag, but I still thought I could trust them. I actually think that this was so they could rent a jackhammer and purchase tools and materials to do the job. They started the work on a Friday afternoon, assuring me they would be ready to pour concrete on Monday, weather permitting. They didn't finish prep work before Monday. They ended up taking a couple more days to prep, and borrowed many of my own tools because they didn't have them with them. A week later, the forecast was for a dry sunny day. But they called and said they couldn't come out because their weather forecast predicted rain. Further weather forecasts delayed the concrete pour again. Finally, on Monday of the second week (10 days after my driveway became unusable) they said they were going to pour that day, even though the forecast was for possible afternoon thunderstorms. They did not arrive until mid-morning, and spent the next couple of hours finishing the installation of wire mesh. They did not order the concrete until 1pm. The concrete truck arrived at 1:30pm. They used 2 newly purchased wheelbarrows to haul concrete from the street to the back yard for the patio. 2 hours later, they still were not done with the patio when a thunderstorm popped up. They were not even prepared with a plastic tarp to cover the patio until the rain subsided. As a result, they rushed to pour the rest of the patio concrete in the rain, making a mess splattering concrete all over my vinyl siding and patio doors. By the time the rain was over, the concrete in the truck was not suitable to pour, but they attempted anyway to put it in the driveway. It could not be worked to any sort of finish, so they gave up on it. They assured me they would be out on Weds (because Tues was forecast rain) to tear out the bad concrete from the driveway and to put a surface coat on the patio to smooth it out, and to powerwash the siding. Weds came and they did not show up. I contacted them and their representative James said he didn't know what to do because they didn't couldn't afford to do the re-work without more money. At this point it was breach of contract. They would not return any of my following messages, and it is obvious they do not intend to refund any of my money. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THIS COMPANY SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR CONCRETE WORK, AND GIVEN MY EXPERIENCE, USING THEM FOR ANY TYPE OF WORK INCLUDING TREE SERVICES IS A RISKY PROPOSITION AT BEST. I have had to hire another contractor to completely re-do the work this company performed.
Description of Work: Replace cracked concrete slabs, and install concrete patio.

Our experience was ok. However, we referred them to my father who had a terrible experience. They charged him $3400 to cut down one tree. They were supposed to cut the bushes and fill a crack. They were really nice the first day. My father paid them in cash. They sawed the bushes down instead of pulling them out and refused to. They said they would put three coats of seal coating and only put one coat. They then tried to charge an additional $100 to dump the rest of the wood. When my father refused to pay anything additional they took their tools and left the tree in his yard. I contacted the owner who was nice at first then never returned the calls. They were smoking pot on my father's property and one guy was asleep in a lawn chair. They took advantage of my 88 year old father.
Description of Work: Two trees cut down.

I wrote 2 checks to this company, one for $428, which paid for the injections and tree trimming. I made it to The Affordable Ones Tree Care on 6/27/15. They came back the following week to finish the job, or so I thought. They cut down the ash tree, but did not cut up the logs into small pieces. The tree is still resting partly on my property and into the farmer's field. I told them to take the wood as I do not have a fireplace. They wanted to drive a truck over my irrigation system and I said no. They told me they would hand cart the wood out to the truck and they demanded payment, even though the contract states "no payment until job completion". So, I wrote another check for the remaining balance of $1070 on 7/1/15 to The Affordable Ones Tree Care and I was told that now I had to write it out to an Edward Dehart, instead. This name is nowhere on the contract form, but they were insistent and I was outnumbered, so I paid...knowing that the job is unfinished but trusting that this company would do the right thing and return to finish the job. They have never returned. I have called them repeatedly...sometimes talking with someone and getting promises to come, but no one ever does what they promise. Usually, I get an answering machine message that just sounds like a cell phone is in the background, too [as if they decide who gets through to talk to a real person or just gets lip service. Last week, I went to the Miami County Sheriff for help, explained and showed the Deputy everything. He called the number on the contract and got the answering machine at first. When he identified himself, they answered. He spoke with them and was promised they would come here last Saturday [7/11/15] to finish the job. They never showed up and when I called on Monday [7/13/15], it was back to the answering machine and the funny background noise. I returned to the Sheriff's Office and they got some background information and told me to wait for them to discuss this company with the Miami County Prosecutor. I just want the job done. I paid for the work they promised and I deserve a completed job. All they have to do is to show up and finish what they started and abandoned.
Description of Work: For $1498 they were to remove and dispose of one large ash tree, surrounding brush, and rake it all up before leaving, deadwood ash and hackberry trees, inject the remaining ash trees, elevate [trim] 2 blue spruces, remove old cable and install new cable on 2 hackberry trees
