Response from CJS Asphalt & Sealcoating
Hello [Member name removed], my name is Trisha Nelson. I am a Sales Rep. for SealMaster, the manufacturing company of the pavement maintenance products CJS Asphalt uses on their projects. I have worked with Mr. Sherrock (CJS Owner) for 5+ years. During that time, I have had the opportunity to assist with many projects and witnessed the quality of their workmanship first hand. This is one of the few companies I would highly recommend to my personal friends and family. They use only the best products available on the market and unlike their competitors, never "cut corners" to save on costs; always having their customers best interests in mind. I would like to apologize for your experience, but I am hoping I can provide a little helpful insight: You see, asphalt sealers are primarily made of clay, tar and water, with some other non-evasive additives. I am 100% certain that there is nothing in asphalt sealers that have the ability to crack asphalt. It just cannot happen. It sounds to me like the problem you are experiencing is a problem with the asphalt itself. There are a couple issues that can cause asphalt to crack prematurely: 1. The asphalt was not properly compacted when installed. 2. The asphalt was not installed in the proper number of lifts. 3. The asphalt was not of proper temperature when laid (too cold). When you apply asphalt sealer to a driveway/parking lot that has one of the above issues, you often experience raveling, rutting and premature cracking. The only option for repair, outside of filling the cracks, is to replace the driveway. The mindset of CJS Asphalt is to make certain that every encounter with the company is an enjoyable one. We are extremely apologetic for your dissatisfaction, but cannot alleviate an installation/settling issue. We 100% waived the costs for the driveway sealing and even crack filled the areas of concern at no charge to you as our way of "going above and beyond" to make sure the customer is happy and fulfilling the reason they called.....To have an aesthetically pleasing, protected driveway. At this point, if you are not satisfied with the results, I would recommend contacting the asphalt installation company and voicing your concerns...because I can assure you the asphalt sealer in no way is responsible for surface cracking. We however greatly appreciate your business and wish you a very Happy Holiday!
