CJS Asphalt & Sealcoating

My experience was pretty good. I think they performed a really good service. Their professionalism was not perfect -- just some of the communication with them. It was difficult to get actual paper work behind some of the stuff and some of the paper work I did get they were missing some details. I guess it worked out fine, but...

The contractor kept in good contact with us throughout the scheduling phase. The late cold snap pushed back their window of service, but they let us know that there would be a delay. The crew quickly sealed the driveway with one coat. If they were at our house more than 20 minutes I'd be surprised (although we have a small driveway). They did not have noisy equipment nor did the crew make a lot of noise. They got in, did the job, and it looks great.

My driveway is blacktop and very old, after hiring CJS Asphalt it looks like new and AMAZING.

Driveway looks very nice and would hire again.

I called for a $99 deal but end up paying more than $350. I don't know what to think of that.

One appointment was scheduled but work could not be done due to rain. I followed up with provider a few days later and he replied that he probably forgot to put me on the schedule. Then I received a call that the work had been done. I was surprised because the driveway had never been blocked off and it did not look to me like it had been sealed. His workers insisted it had been done because they had parked by my mailbox. A picture of my home was sent via email. The owner was insistent that "his guys do what he tells them to do." I still felt the work had not been done. The owner indicated he would be in my area on Tuesday or Wednesday of the coming week and would stop by. If the work had not been done he would do it at that time. Tuesday and Wednesday went by. On Thursday morning I was working in the back of the house and at noon I went to go out for lunch. I put up the garage door and was surprised to find the driveway had been sealed and blocked off. Problem was, my car was still in the garage. So, I removed the tape, backed my car out and the replaced the tape and let the car sit out until the seal was set. I don't believe anyone rang the doorbell or knocked to let me know the driveway was going to be sealed. All in all it was an experience I prefer not to have again for something that should have been so easily done.

I have noticed cracks in the driveway for several years. Other companies that I used didn't think they need to be filled. This company suggested filling them and explain reasons why the other companies didn't. It was not an unreasonable price and made sense to me at the time. Driveway looks a lot better with the cracks filled in. So I would use them again.

They came early and did a fantastic job! Highly recommend them to everyone!

The driveway is 1/6th of a mile long and is >20 years old. We recently had a lot of construction equipment and heavy concrete trucks come down the driveway which caused many pot holes and generally destroyed the asphalt. I called 3 driveway contractors that I got off of Angie's List to come give me a quote on driveway pothole repair and asphalt overlay services. This was a repair job and not a complete resurfacing of the driveway. CJS was punctual and arrived at the discussed and agreed upon time. They also, showed up to give me an estimate 1 day after I called them, which I found very refreshing. One of the other two contractors scheduled a time to meet, but did not show up at all (to bad for them). The 3rd contractor returned my call 4 days after I left the message, which by that time the whole job had been completed by CJS, so they were obviously out of the game. I met with CJS's foremain, a gentleman by the name of Noit, and explained the job I wanted performed. They offered some good ideas that I had not considered and the suggestions, I felt, we're a value add. In general, the discussion of what I expected and the job that I needed to be performed was professional and detailed. CJS answered all of my questions and spent the time to listen to what I wanted done. After our discussion, CJS performed some measurements of the driveway and prepared a quote right there on the spot. The work I wanted performed was clearly laid out on the quote and how they came up with the estimate was well documented. I will say the estimate was a little higher then what I expected ( more on that in a little bit), but their punctuality, professionalism and ability to perform the work right away convinced me that the little extra was worth it to have the job done right and on time. CJS started the job the next day. CJS showed up the next day and started to perform the work. It took the better part of 2 days. They not only filled the pot holes, but they leveled and covered the whole area such that it looked good as new. This was above and beyond my expectations as I envisioned them just throwing some asphalt into the holes and running it over with the roller. Not at all, they covered the whole area of the driveway and it now looks good as new. I was very happy with this job because it was not only well done, it looked better than I had thought it would. The end result was above and beyond my expectations. As CJS performed the work, they would periodically ask me to review and let them know what I thought. They quickly acted on any of my feedback to insure I was satisfied, but in general the work they were doing was excellent so there wasn't much to discuss. When they finished the work, the owner, Craig, walked the whole driveway with me to insure all expectations were met. In general, I found the CJS team to be pleasant to work with and professional. After seeing how they went above and beyond, worked with me to insure satisfaction and delivered a great looking product, I was more than happy to write the check right then and there. I am completely satisfied with this result and I would use CJS again in a heart beat.

The service was performed as requested. They were quick to schedule and came at the time they promised. Their work was careful and complete. One of the best we've had.

Looks good, but felt price ways high. Owner said I wouldn't have to seal again for 3 years. If that is the case the price was good, but if I have to deal before 3 years, then not so good. Only time will tell.

I wasn't home when they did the work. I can see that they trimmed the grass along the sides of the driveway, and I assume they swept before sealing. They filled all the cracks really well with hot tar and did a nice job with the seal coating. The driveway looks great. They were a bit more expensive than the company I hired in the past, but I think CJS did a better job.

It went very well. The work was completed in one day. It took longer than estimated, but they took their time and did not rush. We are very pleased with the results and would use CJS again.

Only issue I had was when their truck broke down and I had to contract them to see why the job was not completed on the day we scheduled. Job was completed by the end of the week. Over all I was happy with the completed job and it looks great.

A very positive experience with CJS. I got several different estimates for patching and seal coating my country driveway. Only CJS was willing to patch the driveway at a lower minimum cost - the other big companies were prohibitive. The owner arrived promptly for an assessment of the work and was flexible with the scheduling. He and his team arrived on time the day the work was to be performed and it was completed on time and in a professional manner. The patching allowed us to save the driveway from having to be completely replaced in the future and the cost for patching and seal coating was reasonable. They also used professional, quality grade materials for the work. We will have CJS back for the next seal coating.

It was difficult to schedule a time for the service, but I think that was due to the special they were running. Once scheduled, the crew came and performed the service promptly. Nobody from the crew came to the house to introduce himself but that wasn't promised as part of the service. I just think that would have been the professional approach in my opinion.

The workers were very professional and did a great job. I had purchased the $99 special on Angies List. My driveway turned out to be much longer than the 600 sq ft for the special so I had the additional charges.

It looks great and I'm confident going into winter that my driveway won't develop any leaks or cracks. It was a very clean and very neat job. I will highly recommend them to neighbors and friends.

Craig sent his team out to complete the job they arrived on time and did not waste any time getting to work. They did an excellent job o preparing the driveway for seal coating before they started to provide any product. They tapped off all areas like side walks and cement side drives with tape. They applied a very hot thick tar to both small and large cracks and totally filled them to the brim. Then they hand mixed the seal coating with no water and added small amounts of a fine sand to make it thicker yet. My driveway runs down hill for the length of a football field and the seal coating was so thick that gravity did not even effect the mix. It did not run down hill it had to be pushed. They took their time spreading the sealcoat making sure to hit very area even the sides. At the bottom of the driveway we had some delivery truck damage where they have backed down the driveway and run off the sides therefore crushing the sides in one or two places. Craig's team was able to fill the large cracks with hot tar to make it look almost new. The team was very professional and the quality of their work was excellent. My neighbors were so impressed that they ask me to have them provide a quote as soon as possible. I would highly recommend CJS Asphalt & Sealcoating for both large and small jobs. I am a big believer that you should get what you pay for and CFJ Asphalt did exactly that. I give CJS and A+ rating and will allow them to show the he job they did for me to pictures on an onsite visit. Found CJS on Angies on-line special. The end result was very good, but communication was not simple. CJS really should consider a live-person phone answering service. It quickly got old talking to voice-mail. Work crew did a great job edging the grass and keeping the sealer on the asphalt. However, there was minor, small splash onto the house siding (not visible from more than 10-15 feet away). In all fairness, the asphalt is just an inch or two away from siding...but, the asphalt was layed down without touching the siding, so the sealer could have been too. So because of communication and minor flaw in craftsmanship, I rated a "B." That said, I'd still use them again. It was good value.

I bought a Deal on a Saturday, and received a reply right away. I told them I was available anytime. They sent me a message Monday night that they were coming on Tuesday morning. They came on Tuesday. I consider that very speedy service. There was a team of 3 people who came. They explained the best way to take care of my driveway. They were not able to seal part of the driveway because it had deteriorated to a point where it was down to dirt and travel. They were also unable to fill the cracks in the part they were able to seal because the crack filler was not sticking to the dirt, so they stopped the crack filler and did not charge me for it. They crack filler was pulling up and sticking to the machine as they attempted to place it. They simply sealed the driveway, and the part they sealed turned out to fit within the limits of the Deal, so I did not have to pay any extra. It looks good now. Time will tell how well the seal will hold up, especially on the parts where they attempted to fill the cracks.. All three men who came were personable and talked about the quality of the sealer and the work. I appreciated their responsiveness, honesty and professionalism.

CJS was very responsive and helpful in setting up the appointment. Workers were courteous and friendly. Work was done professionally and carefully. I am pleased with the results.
