I got talked into putting in two cables and tar in the crotch of the tree that I was getting trimmed, originally quoted $1200.00 and was charged $1875.00 plus 11% tax.

BEWARE! This company charged my elderly mother $1300 to remove some dead branches and lower branches on 4 trees. Not only didn't they trim off all of the dead limbs but they talked her into putting in 2 cables which are supposed to hold up branches that are weak. They cost $800! They put some kind of paint in the crotch of a tree with rot and trimmed the collars off the limbs which makes the tree have to work harder to recover. A man named Deven Ohlinger who may be the owner, claims to be an arborist but when you go onto the International Society of Arborists he is not listed. I called another tree company with a real arborist and he told me that the cables were totally unnecessary! He also told me they were not the correct cables- that in fact they looked like steel wire you could buy from Home Depot! He said he would have charged her $330 for cables if he had done the work and they had been necessary. He also told me that they had used spikes to climb one of the trees and trees in central Ohio do not have bark thick enough to support the weight of someone using these. You can severely damage the tree. He said they should have used rope to climb. I aksed him if I should have him correct the problem and he told me that to do wo would damage the tree even more. Bottom line, my mom got ripped off by a shady company claiming to be true arborists! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!

BEWARE! We hired Alpha Tree Specialists to take down a tree and remove the wood from a rental property we own in Clintonville. Alpha tree service came and gave us a quote, and we agreed to start work shortly after. They told us it would take one day. They did not show up until noon the day of work, and had to come back the next day to complete it - no big deal. However, they 'finished' the job at about 9pm, and immediately called and texted for payment. My wife was putting the kids to bed and said if it's complete she would leave a check out front. Well, BIG MISTAKE. Turns out they did not remove ANY of the wood. They left massive piles of wood too large to even move ourselves despite that being what was agreed upon. Well, when we called to say absolutely that was unacceptable they said "well a neighbor said he would take some of it", whether that's true or not it's not what was agreed upon and this was a gigantic pile of wood, in chunks weighing hundreds of pounds. After many calls they said "well we can come pick it up but it will cost an additional $500 because my guys are on to other jobs". We pushed back obviously and they ignored all further correspondence. We eventually had to have another tree company come and remove the wood. I've worked with many tree companies, stay far away from these guys. They will take your money and run with sloppy results.
