Poorly. HRS subcontracted the job to a very questionable group. I came home to find that the bad sub floor had already been replaced and the flooring was in the process of being reinstalled. The subcontractors finished for the day because they were limited by materials on hand. After they left I inspected the work that they had performed a little closer and was shocked at the level of poor quality work that they had performed and attempted to cover up by reinstalling the flooring so quickly. The cut lines for the subflooring were free handed and very crooked with jagged edges. There was a gap in one of the edges nearly 1 inch wide and several feet long. I could look straight through to the ground through this gap. This led me to go into the crawl space to take a look at the repairs that they had made to a floor joist and the supports under the new subfloor. This was also found to be completely unacceptable and shoddy workmanship. I contacted HRS to let them know what I had found and they came out to investigate. They were in agreement that the quality of workmanship was not acceptable. HRS quickly agreed to take out all of the previous repairs and start over. I had to insist that the subcontractors were no longer allowed on my property. HRS did strive to make sure that I was satisfied with the finished product in the end though. The most memorable part of this fiasco is when the subcontractors that HRS hired called me to inform me that they were planning on filing a lien against my property due to the fact that they were not being paid by HRS for the work performed on my property. HRS did provide me a written letter that they would assume all legal issues with the subcontractor concerning this event. Overall this was a very poor experience.
Description of Work: Repaired water damaged subfloor in a three season room. Included replacing French doors that customer purchased and replacing flooring as necessary.

Very good job on all jobs and excellent job on mail box post. Had to work around many rain days but communication was excellent. Matt Winard supervised job. He was excellent, very honest in what could and could not be done in our repair work. Delivered on what could be done. Workers on projects were very professional. I recommend them.

I will be using them again int the future. Theyr repaired gutters and downspouts, replaced blown off shingles, and repaired street light posts. They do building exterior repairs, and they also do home interior repairs as well.
Description of Work: I have used HRS several times. They are very reliable, very responsive, and very reasonable

We were first reffered to this company by one of our neighbors who had contracted HRS to do a kitchen remodel for them about 8 or 9 years ago. Our neighbors were extremely happy with the work so we decided to give them a shot. We have used HRS in the past for repairs made to our gutters, plumbing leaks, and to pressure wash and restain our deck. We have always been satisfied with their work. This time around we wanted to remodel our master bathroom. From the first time they came out to do the initial estimate we were pleased with the level of professionalism and knowledge. The remodel crew that actually performed the work were very professional and knowledgeable as well. The tile work on both the floors and walls of the shower is beautiful. We are completely satisfied with very aspect of the job and would recommend this company to any of our friends, family, or neighbors.
Description of Work: Master bathroom remodel. New drywall and paint, new shower and shower faucet, new toilet, new vanity cabinet, sink, and faucet, and new tile on shower walls and floors.

I contacted HRS because it was a local company. I asked them to replace the tub and shower surround and I bought the tub and shower walls. The first man sent to do the project was friendly. His work however was unacceptable. The drywall was crooked and the entire caulking came off with a week. I called the owner, Mike and his reply was "J*** must have had a bad day". He sent a second man out B**. B** came out and replaced the caulking. After a few days use (we waited 48 hours for caulk to dry) the caulking was off and water was leaking into the drywall, which caused a hole on both sides of the wall. B** came back out and opened my bedroom wall with a 6x3 foot opening because he thought he shower walls need "more adhesive". He did repair the wall, but the caulk continued to come off and water leaks. B** told me he always has to "clean up J***'s bad work" . After the leaks continued I again called the office and M*** came out and stated he would fix the job. He tried to caulk several times without success. So, he took down the shower walls. He had to cut them apart due to all the adhesive put on by B**. (The shower wall company doesn't recommend the adhevsive). After pulling the walls out, he told me the reason the caulk didn't stay on was because "the first guys sealed over the draining holes for the water". I went to Lowe's with him where the decision was made not to replace with the previous shower walls. The American Standard Company stated the walls and tub work together, but M*** told me they "can't guarantee it" so we went with tile. It took three weeks to do the tile, a very small job. M** would tell me why he wasn't coming to finish, but then forget his reason and tell me something else. The bottom line was they were "squeezing me in" and my job was not a priority. I only have one bathroom. There is tile adhesive on my hallway and bedroom carpet. Tile grout on my bathroom floor. M** "finished" his work and the walls are uneven, the caulk on the shower rails is off. The shower rails are too short because they are the same ones used on the shower walls, so the is messy caulk to fill the gaps. M*** told me there were "caps" coming to fix this, but that was in early December and they never showed up. On another note, M*** gives me days where he will come back. I would stay at home because I don't have a show time. He cancels and then wants to schedule a different day. B** the second guy bag mouth his boss Mike and told me how he "rips people off". This has been such a bad experience that I'm not sure what to do now. The only positive in this is Mike did send out two different guys to try to "make it right". The problem is not one could do it right. I have pictures of it all.
Description of Work: The shower surround was to be replaced as well as the tub. The job started 9/23/11 and took over a year and still not acceptable.

Response from Home Repair Services of Ohio LLC
We at HRS stand behind our work. We offer a one year warranty on our work. This is industry standard. We have made every attempt to repair any and all items brought to our attention by this customer and continue to do so even though we are well outside the warranty period. We believe the problem started with the materials provided to HRS by the customer. An American Standard bathtub and wall set were purchased from Lowe's, by the customer, for HRS to install. We were not at all involved in the material selection process. After several phone calls to American Standard and meetings with Lowe's employees, it was discovered that the wall set we were provided to install was not designed to be installed with this particular bathtub. In fact, American Standard does not offer a wall set designed to go with this bathtub. We initially gave the best possible effort to make this work including multiple trips to the job site to do so. After this discovery, HRS incured all material and labor costs to remove the wall set and install porcelain tile in it's place. The total expense is over $1100.00 in materials and labor. We did not have to do this but went the extra mile to satisfy our customer. The existing bathtub glass door does not fit correctly now. This is due to the existing wall set being thicker than the newly installed porcelain tile. We did make every attempt possible to make the existing bathtub glass door work properly in this new application in an attempt to save the customer any additional money for purchase of a new bathtub door. It is just not possible. We have offered to contact the bathtub glass door company and/or Lowe's in an attempt to get new door rails to solve this issue. We have also offered to remove any caulk found by the customer to not be acceptable and recaulk. "Guy #3" did come back to look at the work and discussed the above directly with the customer. He was told that he would be allowed to make good on the above offers. As to the customer's complaint of asking for the owner to be directly involved, this is not our protocol. Our business assigns project managers to each of our projects. Having an owner get directly involved would only undermine the job. We fully rely on our project managers. HRS feels that we have truly gone above and beyond for this customer, to the extent that most other contractors would not have gone. There are only very minor issues that need to be resolved at this point and we are fully willing to address these issues. However, we will not be willing to pay $1,200.00 to the customer to have another contractor come in to finish these minor issues.

Mike from HRS is a crook. He swindled me out of thousands when I hred him to finish or basement. When he came for the estimate he made it sound like he does jobs like this all the time, and when he gave me the quote, I signed up right away. Basically he low balled me and used my deposit to hurry up and pay prior subs. When he finally started, he hired a sub from out of town who did not know how to frame and then he went on to hire 3 other carpenters to finish the job. But... since he was now underwater on the job, he got it to the point of Drywall and I was stupid enough to pay the draw after Drywall was complete. He never came back becasue he knew he could not finish the job for the reamining money. I paid 3/4 of the job and only got 1/2 the job done.
Description of Work: HRS was called in to finish my basement. Framing, drywall, carpet, doors, trim.

Thanks for posting this comment on Angie's List. We value all types of feedback here at HRS. On this particular project, we had a homeowner that kept modifiying the scope of work as well as redirecting all employees and sub contractors. His additions and directives caused us losses in time and our ability to respond to our other customers. Further, it was the customers assumption that he could change the original scope of work to whatever he deemed and that these changes would be preformed at no additional cost. Finally, it was HRS that terminated our contract with the customer. Please feel free to contact me personally if this even warrants further discussion.
