Bill was great. He has been a plumber for probably more than 30 years, so was very knowledgeable, even about the weird setup in my 1950s bathroom. And at every step, he always had the necessary parts already in his truck. He made sure to answer all my questions (and I tend to have a lot) so that I really understood the problems and how they needed to be fixed. He even showed me how to solder. It ended up taking about 13 hours over two days to complete everything (bathroom was by far the most time consuming), and throughout that time, it seemed like Bill really cared about making sure the job was being done right. He even stayed after his work hours until 8pm one night and skipped his lunch the other day, just to get it done. Overall, I am very pleased with the service I received and would definitely recommend Bill to others.
Description of Work: I've had a dripping bathtub faucet for over a year and had been avoiding the problem by just shutting off the water to that bathroom. But when the dripping started to sound like it was coming from inside the bathroom wall and the manifold in the basement started dripping too, I called Roto-Rooter and Bill (#811) arrived at my house in just a few hours. The job ended up being more complicated than we originally thought after discovering that the water pressure coming to the house was almost double what it should be. Of course, now it makes sense why so many things were breaking/dripping. In the end, Bill installed a pressure reducing valve and thermal expansion tank to address the pressure problem. And he also replaced the dripping manifold valve, the bathtub faucet and old corroded pipes in the wall leading to the bathtub, the busted parts inside the tank of one of my toilets, and a dripping faucet in the garage.

Parma, Ohio. Today was my third experience with Roto-Rooter over a period of 10 years. They always did a good job in the past (basement sewer, kitchen drain), so I called them again. My problem today was a blocked kitchen drain. I called about 8:30 in the evening and scheduled a service call for the next morning. When the morning passed I called and it was discovered that the service call was erroneously scheduled for the following day. However, Roto-Rooter had someone out within about 2 hours time. The technician (Walter #7986) did a good job of clearing the drain with a powered cable several passes through the drain pipe. He was personable, he protected all surfaces and left the area as clean as when he arrived.
Description of Work: Cleared blocked kitchen drain.

I called them one time and it wasn't a pleasant experience. The man that came didn't really know what the problem was. He got here in a very timely manner, which was very nice. He said that my hot water tank was installed incorrectly but he couldn't tell me how it was installed incorrectly. I thought the leak was from the hot water tank but he said he wasn't sure it was coming from that or the air conditioning unit. He called his supervisor and his supervisor said that more than likely it was moisture from the hot water tank due to the higher temperatures. I asked what it would take to get the hot water tank installed correctly and he said that it would be $400-$450. He said that I needed someone smaller than him because he was a rather large man and it is in a smaller area, which I could understand. I basically got no service and I didn't find out what the problem was. It cost me $97. I called them two or three months ago. The boss said that their service was unacceptable and horrible. He did send me a full refund and offered to come out and repair it but I had already had someone else come out to fix it. He was very apologetic, which I appreciated very much.

They sent a service man out within an hour which I thought was good. However, the service I received was not satisfactory. He wasn't sure if the leak was coming from the hot water tank or the A/C unit inside next to it. He called his supervisor and sat outside for about 20 minutes talking to him. He said he wasn't sure what the problem was and he is too large to fit in the area to look further. He advised to call back in a few days and ask for someone thinner. I asked what he thought the problem was, and he simply said he didn't know. He did tell me the hot water tank was installed improperly, and that it needs to be re-installed. I asked what that entails, but he said he doesn't know.
Description of Work: He inspected a leak I thought was from my hot water tank.

They arrived within the the timeframe we were given. We were called when they were 30 minutes away. They quickly assessed the problem. Eric and his partner were knowledgeable and got right to work. The work area was kept clear and cleaned up after the work was completed. They also checked the whole house pressure. Now we can rest easy instead of worrying about the basement. Thanks, guys!

I am satisfied! They are very professional, they did the work and gave me suggestions on what needed to be done in the future and they could do the work if i needed. They came out a day before the work was to be done to go over the details, which was very nice. They also cleaned up very well after their work, their workspace very all cleaned up. I am very pleased with the work they did and they were very pleasant, professional, and prompt!
Description of Work: They did a whole lot! they replaced the toilet upstairs, they cleaned the drain in the bathroom sink, he opened up a wall downtairs to see what was going on with the drains that lead upstairs which was alot of work, they replaced the piping for a toilet, and they also tuned up my water heater. Two men came to help me, was named Willie and they both did a great job.

At about 8:15pm as my dishwasher was washing a pipe under my kitchen sink burst & hot steaming water came bursting out of the cabinet below?..I ran downstairs to shut the water coming into the house off (water also was leaking through my basement ceiling below my sink)?.I had cleaned up all the water & thought to see if with the dishwasher not being on anymore I could turn the water back on to the house?..as I went to do this the water started leaking again & I went to turn off the house valve again it sprouted a leak so luckily for the 2nd valve I got the water to the house turned off once again?..then came in Roto Rooter (Cleveland - East Side)?..I called & the office took down all the details & told me someone would be at my house within 3 hours??not but moments later the office called back & said the gentlemen would be at my house within the hour?..not moments after that Larry called me to find out all the details before arriving?..he did not know if I would need the water dept to come out but told me he was going to come to see what he could do to get me water that night?.he came & realized that the water filter's seal broke & canister cracked?.he took a picture of it so he could go to the store in the morning to see about a replacement filter?.he called me at about 8am to tell me he had not forgotten about me but had to finish another job but would be at the store shortly & would call?.he called me a few times to make sure he was purchasing the right product & even got me on the phone with the person at the plumbing store to make sure he was buying the correct item?..,he even thought to buy me a replacement filter so I can have it on hand when the time comes to change it?..he came & within an hour or less had the filter replaced & pipe fixed under my kitchen sink?..Larry was the epitome of exceptional service (you do not see that to often anymore)!

They completed the repair and cleaned everything up. They handled everything and took care of what needed to be done. They were able to complete the work quickly as well.

They were awful, expensive and I would go to the newspaper and TV station about them as they are horrid. They charged me $7300 for lining in two little pipes. They took my card number as well. They said that it was an emergency, so my insurance company told me to go ahead. Now the insurance company says that they say it was just a repair and not some damage done. I didn’t find any papers form them either but I think that this might even go to court. All the plumbers I talked to said that it was a way above the price. They were here on the first day for four hours and the second for two hours. There was no excavation needed. The people were all very nice but I just couldn’t believe that it cost so much for only six hours of work which they didn’t had to do hard work. It was the price that I was really angry about. If they would have said that it wasn’t an emergency then I wouldn’t have gone ahead with it. Their work is fine as everything works fine. They said it was guaranteed for ten years.

Called them out on short notice, Saturday morning, when I found the floor drain in the basement had backed up. The scheduler did get someone out in a couple of hours. The service man was going to use the service plug on the main standoff pipe that they had replaced 5 yrs. earlier. He could not get it opened just like 5 yrs. earlier. He suggested that I replace the brass replacement with a PVC one for $300. I turned that down and instructed the him to remove the whole piece. Once this was done he was about to try to snake out the drain. He could not get it opened, same as 5 yrs. earlier. He found mud and such which tied in to the leaking water line that the city was in the process of repairing. He recommended that a sewer jet be used to blow out the mud and to video tape the drain pipe. This was an additional $650. The jet did clear the drain and video taped the water leak that found it's way into the drain washing in mud and such. The video was used to prove to the city that their water leak blocked up my drain and I have a claim to try and get the city to reimburse me for the $1000.To no avail as of yet. I was rather disappointed with them for not being able to get the drain open twice as well as the replacement service plug not opening. On the positive side they did respond quickly and professionally. I would use them again in an emergency again as some others I called said that late Sunday or Monday were their earliest openings.

Joe (Tech #1138) was wonderful and fixed the plug with the snake. He was very detail oriented and covered all the bases that could have been the problem before determining the problem and then fixed it PRONTO. Please read What Did The Provider Do to see all the details
Description of Work: Snaked our upstairs toilet in the Master Bathroom to remove something that had plugged the line. Joe did that after he had checked out all the other lines connected to our other bathrooms. He ran water in the tubs and showers and checked out the basement, also. All of this he did before he made his final decision and it worked beautifully.

We called Roto Rooter because theyre a "big national name" and the price was reasonable. (Not LOW but acceptable). Then the problems started. On several occaisions they failed to show up when the agreed to. And when they finally did they did not follow our clearly stated instructions. The biggest problem here was that one hand never seems to wash the other with Roto Rooter. I've gotta say I will probably NOT give them my business again.

I had the washing macihne going in the basement while I was doing housework upstairs. It seemed that the I heard the water running rapidly for quite a while so I went to the basement and discovdered the hose to the washing machine had split and I had a fountain of water squirting all accross the basement. Alot of water collected in a short period of time. I had to turn off all water to the house. I called Roto Rooter since I had used them before. They always answer the phone; I like that I do not have to leave a message and hope for a return call. I explained the problem and the dispather told me a plumber would arrive within 2 hours. The Roto He repaired the leak and promptly. I am a very satisfied customer. Thank you, Walter! You represent your company well!

(member name removed), Thank you so much for using Roto-Rooter. I do remember your job from 2011. I am glad to hear you are still happy with our quality and responsiveness. I know these type jobs are expensive. $3,500 is a considerable amount of money, as digging below the frost line with a backhoe, shoring it, using the proper stone and materials, city permits an three plumber working outside in November can add up. We sincerely appreciate your business and hope the new sewer line is keeping your household flowing at it should. Thank you!!!

We had a leak under the kitchen sink. Set up a next day appointment online to have someone come out to the house to not only fix the leak but update the under sink pipes to ensure we were draining more efficiently. My appointment time was between 12-2pm and the plumber arrived at 1230 and immediately got to work on my sink. After a short time, no more leak and now my under sink pipes are brand new and routed correctly. The representative was friendly and informative and didn't try to sell us extra items that we didn't need. We are very happy with the service we received.

After a torrential downpour and water pouring in through the cracks in my basement floor for the umpteenth time in the last 5 years, I called the company and the tech arrived quickly to use the camera snake around my home. He showed me that the storm line from the house to the street had a drop in it and that water was backing up through the storm line at the street because sediment was blocking its access to the city drain line. He also showed me offset tile and another blockage in a storm drain that ran under the house from a rerouted downspout at the back of my house. No rainwater runs directly into this drain since it had been capped and the gutter downspout relocated to the corner of the house. None of the storm drain tile were broken or collapsed, but several were offset. Before he left, he explained to me that there was a procedure to fix the offset tile that would involve trenchless repair. His rough estimate was $7000. I asked if he thought just unblocking the drain might solve my problem, and he said probably. He recommended using a jet snake over a traditional snaking method, which while more expensive ( $695.00 for the first 1.5 hours, $250 dollars for every hour after that), it would blast out the line from the house to the street, as well as the drain under the house. I wanted it done before more torrential rain, so I had him call the company. The dispatcher said someone would be out later that day. This was around 3 pm. At 5:45 pm I received a call telling me that the jet tech would be out to the house in an hour and a half. At 7:50 I was called and told I could either wait until tomorrow or he could be at my home in 30-40 minutes. With a 50% chance of rain, and having just finished cleaning my basement, I wanted it done that night. He arrived at 8:40. I asked if it would be noisy, and he said it would. I agreed to have him come back at 8 am the next morning. He arrived on time, and proceeded to jet out the line from my house to the street. Just prior to the sidewalk, the jet stopped propelling itself towards the main line and the camera snake indicated that there was a lateral bend in the pipe. He stopped what he was doing and said there would be no point in continuing since it was clear to him that the pipe had been installed improperly. He also could not find a clean-out cap near the street. By the time we had finished talking he had been at my house for 40 minutes. He explained that the drain pipe might be my only problem, but replacing it would be $3000-$4000. He then pointed out that I might have to have my footer tile inspected and replaced, a flow test run, the camera snake used again, and before he left he gave me the impression I was looking at potentially $10,000 worth of work. To his credit, he did not write up a bill for the work he did. I am still waiting to here from the first tech regarding how Roto-Rooter would like to proceed. Needless to say, I am sticker-shocked at what was supposed to be a simple drain being unblocked. I understand that the jet tech was trying to give a worst-case scenario to the situation, but I also feel overwhelmed at the cost.
Description of Work: The first tech used the camera snake on my storm and sewer drains and discovered a drop in my storm line between the house and the street as well as sediment blockage. He also showed me offset storm tile around and under my house. The second tech spent 30 minutes the following morning using the jet snake to try and unblock my drain pipe from the house to the street.
