He really saved the day for me and my family. I was thoroughly impressed and glad I've got them to help me should something else come up in the future.
Description of Work: As one of many people with a furnace problem during the Polar Vortex, I called PK Wadsworth around 9 p.m., and the tech told me he'd make it out that night if I didn't mind it being late, as he had several appointments to take care of first. He showed up at 1:30 in the morning, was super helpful and kind, analyzed the problem, discussed what I could do until he could find the part the next day (Saturday - his day off), and when he left at 2:30 a.m., was still very positive (and awake!) And sure enough, the next morning, he called, had found the hard-to-find part and came over to install it.

The technician started with radiator valves in 2 bedrooms. When tech was trying to replace trap by the floor, it leaked water - about 3 gallons worth from radiator and the water ran all over the floor, down to kitchen where it soaked microwave, stove and I could hear the water running between the floors and walls and water went down to basement thru ceiling light fixtures. I have a new remodeled kitchen. I was not pleased. He grabbed towels from my bathroom cause his one towel wasn't enough. We used up about 8 of my towels to clean up the mess in the bedroom and kitchen. I was not happy. He should have been better prepared with a bucket or something to catch the water running out of radiator. He apologized profusely but I am awaiting to see what is damaged before paying them. The 2nd bedroom with valve was replaced. His shoe covers were not new but used and were dirty so stained my carpet. I had to clean up the tracks. The 2 radiators work fine now but I am wondering if there will be leaks elsewhere. The basement boiler pipes were supposed to be insulated but it was not explained fully that elbow joints were going to be left exposed. I asked for the elbow joints to be covered near ceiling and flimsy plastic wraps with thin insulation was used to cover them. If I touch them they are very hot and heat from boiler will melt the plastic. I asked tech to please check the plastic elbow covers but he thought it was sufficient. Technician was polite and apologized profusely but I will not be hiring them again. I would rather hire someone who I can feel confidently won't do more damage to my home.

Went great. The guy was friendly and professional. Answered all my questions. The CO levels while not high to begin with (i forget, 10 to 40 ppm perhaps), did come down to single digits parts-per-million after the clean.
Description of Work: House heating gas furnace tune-up ($85) plus hot water furnace($50). 21-pint check deal. Cleaning (importantly), and testing CO levels before and after clean.

Showed up on time and did a great job. It turned out to be a 2-1/2 day job, rather than 2 days estimated, but we were kept informed of progress and why extra time was needed. We had a few special requests, including relocating where the A/C was positioned, etc. and the installer was aware of everything. This was unlike some companies where the estimator seems to not communicate with the installer. After installation, he went over everything very thoroughly.

They were absolutely WONDERFUL! The young man was confident about solving my problem and he did! Patrick was the fellow that ended up taking care of my problem and he did exactly what he said he'd do. Patrick was very nice and I will use them again.

I'm sorry for the confusion. Our diagnostic or trip charge is the cost to get a technician out to your home and do about 30 minutes of diagnosis. Sometimes additional diagnostics are necessary, but they would be an additional charge. I see you had someone else from our company out after that to quote replacement of the unit. I don't know if you went ahead with that replacement or not, but we would be happy to quote additional testing to you if you would like.

I was having issues with my AC not working properly. I bought the $40 service call deal from Angie's. I was able to get an appointment the very next day. They came out and checked the AC and discovered it was the thermostat He suggested I can either buy a new one from him (which was way more expensive) or go online and find the same thermostat I already had (which was much cheaper option). This showed me they were honest and not out to get my money. I was very happy with the service and would definitely use them again.

Had another company come out to look at my furnace because it was not heating properly. The technician did not appear to be very knowledgeable and made several calls back to the home office. It was determined that I would need to replace the motor. I decided to have a second opinion. I called PK Wadsworth and they promptly came out. The technician was professional in his appearance. He diagnosed my problem and made the necessary repairs. I saved several hundreds of dollars because of PK Wadsworth and their professional technician.

Went well, service was professional, did what was asked, were very clear about what was wrong and need for additional costs, called in second technician for expertise, I had figured that the $99 cost would only cover things if nothing was wrong because it did not cover much coolant, and I was right in that I needed more coolant, hence more cost. They were nice about not charging me to clean the air filters in the system as they had already found a potentially expensive leak.
Description of Work: Checked air conditioning service, found low coolant, potential leak, put in more coolant and tracer, to come back once tracer works through system to fix leak

I went with P.K. Wadsworth because... in the winter, my thermostat was acting strangely. I thought I had a problem with my furnace, but when I called them (I've used Plumbing Source & Clover Electric in the past & P.K. Wadsworth comes recommended by them) they were kind enough to explain to me how to change the battery in the thermostat without paying for a service call and without making me feel like a giant idiot! They were professional when I called for the A/C appointment, quoted me an estimate. I was actually able to get the maintenance done sooner, because they had a cancellation & called me to ask if I wanted to move up my appointment. The technician was prompt and polite. When I joined the maintenance plan, it actually cost me less than the original estimate! I am very happy with their service.

I also needed a regulator on the water tank and the technician showed me how the furnace works and how to maintain it. I never had hot water heat before. They were very helpful.
Description of Work: PK changed the vent on 2 of my radiators and gave the furnace a tune up for the winter. I used them before as per landlords request in our rental and now use them on my own home. Very knowledgable

I was extremely impressed by the staff both on the phone and in person at P.K. Wadsworth. They were extremely friendly and helpful. The technician who came out to the house was informative and answered all of my questions in detail. They were also able to give me a bit more information about my house since they serviced it when the previous owners lived there - I loved that they took the time to talk to me about my system and made me feel confident they could assist with whatever heating/cooling issues I had.

Last Memorial Day we had unseasonably hot weather - well into the 90's over that weekend. The house we are in has no natural shade from trees so the heat builds up. This meant, of course, that the air conditioner had to break. Record heat, no relief in sight, and everyone in the Cleveland area in the same boat: putting in emergency calls to HVAC locations, buying window air conditioners, running stores out of fans. We actually found a kind maintenance person to come look after a couple of days and he pronounced the blower dead. Nothing really wrong with the air conditioner but nothing right with the blower. Well, after talking it over, we decided that since we had to have the blower replaced, we should replace our 25-year-old furnace at the same time. We searched Angie's List and met with three companies, two of which did the same thing - walking through the house to carefully measure the rooms and calculate actual needs. The third company recommended the size of furnace we already had. The salesman from P.K Wadsworth, Tom Stockard, responded with a recommendation for an 80,000 BTU furnace rather than the 100,000 furnace we had. He explained that we probably didn't need a furnace of that size given the size of the rooms we were heating. Not one to believe everything I hear, I took to the internet to do research into this and it was not easy AT ALL to get definitive information to determine whether we should have 80,000 or 100,000 BTU's. In the end, I read enough that made me feel we probably would be fine with 80,000. We accepted the Wadsworth bid. Because of the lower cost for the 80,000 BTU unit, we were able to easily go a step higher for energy efficiency and dust prevention. Finally, we still needed the work done so we would have an air conditioner blower for the summer heat. Tom offered us a temporary installed air conditioner to get us through the worst of it but in the end, expedited this for us and we were in the queue so that we had the new unit in before the middle of June. We waited to write about the unit until we had experienced the furnace through one winter. We had no problems whatsoever and are happy with this unit. It is quieter than our previous furnace, and we were able to reinstall a humidifier, which had not worked with our old furnace for some years. We really need that in the winter months. When all was done and the bill paid, we received a dozen large artisan chocolate chip cookies as a thank you from Wadsworth - which was a really nice gesture that just capped off the experience working with the company.
Description of Work: P. K. Wadsworth replaced a 25-year-old furnace with a Carrier unit, 95% efficiency, with a humidifier and air cleaner. We also received a $400 rebate for an energy audit.
