Description of Work: We paid $99 for an inspection and one pound of freon using an Angies List coupon. They said the whole air conditioner and my furnace blower needed repair in order to make the air conditioning work. No freon was placed in the unit. The bid for the repair was $1600!!! I stated I would need to get a second opinion and requested a line by line estimate. I never received the detailed estimate via email as promised. We had another provider, TigerAIr, replace the capacitor and add freon for $380 and it is working fine. Waste of time and money. I wouldn't necessarily recommend TigerAir, though, because they came to my other home and gave me a bid of $5000 for a new compressor today. We will get other estimates for that. It's hard to know who to trust!

Sorry I took so long to respond to your review. I needed to hear from our Service Manager and he was not in to give me an answer until recently. Our technician quoted five repair items, but you did not have to proceed with all the items at this time. We could have done just the capacitor and Freon, but with the blower assembly leaking oil he was afraid you would be calling us in another couple of weeks to fix that. I'm sorry he did not make that more clear to you at the time. We always encourage our technicians to give the client all the information they have, and allow the client to make the decision as to what to repair and when. I'm glad to hear your system is working well now. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you.

Description of Work: This is my first time using Angie's List and I am very disappointed with the company selected based on reviews (P.K. Wadsworth heating and cooling. The repair person arrived on time and looked at my air conditioner for a full 20 seconds to determine I needed a new motor. I paid $40.00 at a 50% discount as an Angie's List customer for 20 seconds of work. That seems like a total rip off since I told them on the phone the fan was not running. I asked the repair person what did he think it would cost to replace the motor, just his best quess and he said around $600. The quote to replace the motor was around $600 including labor. I called another company and had the motor (new) installed with labor for $265.00. Shame on you !!!

To be clear, the technician was trying to offer a worst case estimate, and his estimate ended up being quite a bit higher than what the repair cost would have been.
