It was a bad experience all around. One of the two countertops was cut incorrectly (too large). We decided to accept it since it was a small error and we wanted to get our project wrapped up. Unfortunately, both backsplashes were also cut incorrectly although we didn't know that until after the tops were installed. One of the two backsplashes was corrected on the second attempt. We are still awaiting attempt number four on the second backsplash -- more than six weeks after the scheduled completion date. The undermount bowls used in the countertops were an inferior product that did not drain properly. Granex promised that it was a rare problem and brought new bowls from the same manufacturer. They also didn't drain properly. We finally insisted on and received Kohler bowls, and they work perfectly. The overall quality of the installation was OK. Looking down from the top, they look fine. If you get underneath the vanity, you see lots of excess glue and crudely cut wooden supports to hold the bowls in place. In another bathroom (done by a different contractor), the bowls are mounted very neatly with keyhole clamps holding them in place in addition to the adhesive. The only reason I'm not giving Granex an "F" across the board is because they have attempted to make good on their many mistakes, but I would never use them again.
Description of Work: Granex was contracted to provide fabricated quartz tops for two bathroom vanities.

We ordered Ikea cabinets and Granex is the company that Ikea Pittsburgh uses for their quartz countertops. We ordered them through Ikea. Ikea told us to just call Granex when the base cabinets were installed so they could come out and measure. We called to schedule them, and it was several days before anyone would be available to come out to measure. After they finally measured, we were told they would be 10 to 12 days and that someone would call to schedule an install. After a little more than a week passed, we called them to check in and was told that they were waiting on approval of the drawings and hadn't even started fabricating them yet. They said that Ikea was supposed to get in touch with us to confirm everything. Ikea told us that the only time they typically intervene is when there is a price discrepancy (there wasn't any in our case). After going back and forth with Granex and Ikea, we figured out that no approval should have been required because nothing had changed. On the day of the install, their guys showed up and wanted to notch out our base cabinets to install a 30" sink. We had ordered a 24" sink and they had it confused with the other sink that was on their truck for another job that they were doing after ours. Instead of checking to see if they had the right sink, they were ready to cut our cabinets to fit a sink that we hadn't ordered. Luckily, our contractor was there to intercede and stop them. My husband received a nasty phone call at work from Jeff Poprik, Granex Operations Manager, who said "I understand you won't let my guys notch out your cabinets to fit your sink." To which my husband replied, "that's because I didn't order a 30" sink. I ordered a 24" sink. After Jeff checked his paperwork, he said "You're right. Let me call you back." When he said, "oh you're all taken care of, there are two installs and the guys brought the wrong sink in, so you're good." No apology. Overall, the countertops do look beautiful. The seams are almost invisible and we are happy with the finished product, but everything leading up to this was a headache. I would not use Granex again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. Remodeling is headache enough without dealing with the snarky staff from Granex.
Description of Work: Install quartz countertops in newly-remodeled kitchen.
