Rent-A-Husband Handy Service

I thought I was taken advantage of. He did 15 minutes work for $70. He seems unreliable and like an opportunist who takes advantage of people who don't know any better. I do not recommend him to anyone.

Would love to be able to speak to the services performed and how it went overall, however can't say much about a no show/no call!

Good job. He had the necessary tools at hand to do it. He was punctual and the price was fair. After the shingles were done, he asked if there was anything else, which brought to mind the couch, which he handled.

We called Mr. Toth on Feb 1, 2012 because we needed an estimate to have a chimney cap installed and our laminate kitchen counter trimmed to fit refrigerator. We already had the chimney cap but weren't able to have it installed because there was no place to attach it to the crumbling brick around the top. We had just had the roof of the house done. The company who did the roof was also supposed to install the cap but neglected to inform us that because the chimney was crumbling, it would need to be built up before it could be installed. The owner quoted us an additional cost of $700 to install this after the roof was finished. We were annoyed that we weren't told this at the time we received our estimate for the roof and felt that we were being gouged after the fact. Rather than let the roofer do it, we decided to get another opinion. Mr. Toth came out the next day (Feb 2, 2012) and quoted us a price of $200.00 (for labor) to install the cap and $75.00 to trim the countertop. We asked how soon this could be done. He said the next day. We set up an appt for noon the next day. Mr. Toth and his associate showed up on time Feb 3, 2012 and got right to work. They cleaned the cracks and reapplied cement before attaching the cap. While he and his associate were on the roof, they took the time to clear some debris from the gutters. After they were finished with the roof, Mr. Toth and his associate trimmed the laminate countertop in our kitchen. That was $75.00. We had had high winds blow 4 shingles off of our garage roof after the roofers had finish and asked him how much he would charge to re-attach these. He said $10.00. We told him to go ahead. Mr. Toth and his associate were careful, considerate and respectful of our property. They cleaned up after they were finished and were as polite as any contractors we have used. We were very pleased with the work and would hire Mr. Toth again.

I am a resident and the maintenance coordinator for a small condo association in NR. After encountering what I considered unreasonable delays in response and scheduling from a roofing contractor that had done these types of jobs for us in the past, I decided to investigate other sources. I searched Angie’s List based on proximity to our location and then by services and ratings, which led me to contact Rent-A-Husband Handy Service.True to his reputation here on AL, Richard Toth was very responsive and prompt; traits I value highly when dealing with a contractor. As an unknown, first time, potential customer, he returned my first call within a few hours, scheduled a site meeting for late in the afternoon the next day (which accommodated my work schedule), quoted the job, and said he could get the shingles, and do the work the following day, which he did, and completed satisfactorily. These were minor repairs, but repairs that needed done, and Rich took care of them in a timely manner and for a reasonable price.

Had them install a new kitchen sink, faucet and garbage disposal. When everything was said and done they never caulked the sink or attached any of the clips to the back of the sink, so when the garbage disposal was turned on the entire sink shook. Also if the counter got wet it would run under the rim of the sink. Called to have them come back and "fix" the problem. Which took about 3 weeks for them to come back after several reminder calls. They came back, but only caulked 2 sides of the sink, making it better but not perfect. Also had them quote to install an overhead garage door opener for a single garage door. They quoted price, and said they would be there on the following Sunday, but never called and never showed up.

He was good overall. He was responsive and punctual.

Everything went fine. He came out one day to give me the esitmate and the next day to repair it.

It started out what seemed to be a good job replacing sash cords in 13 windows. They then forgot to do 2 windowsand 3 windows would not go up and down. I called to have them come back out annd they did but the job wasn't much better. They were very messy with wood in the window sills. There was also dirt on the floor by the windows. There was also marks on our newly painted walls and window frames. They cleaned up but it was not to our satiiisfaction.

Mr. Toth come out the same day that I called despite there being sketchy weather. He thoroughly cleaned and repaired the gutters including adjusting the downspouts for most optimum usage. Overall, very impressive, completely reasonable pricing for the amount of work performed. Would definitely call again!

He was on time and performed the request effectively.

I called Richard Toth last week to perform this job I had put off myself for a long time. When I first called him, he came to the house without any delay and provided me a bid. I accepted and he performed the work on 9/15/10, a week later. He was at the house about 3 hours. He ask for my inspection to ensure I happy. He performed the job without delay and all at one time. He was friendly, neat and cleaned up after leaving no 'unwanted" caulking. The price originally agreed upon was the price I paid. I already recommended him to my neighbor to perform the same work.

Prompt, couteous and affordable! Just like 10 years ago!

They were very pleasant and responsive when they came to give me a quote. Gave me the exact information I needed to get the correct doors, and broke down the costs for me. They were able to schedule me pretty soon, and they arrived on time. Richard said it would take a couple hours to finish and it took longer than that, which I take as a sign that they did not rush the job. I think these guys are honest and capable and I would use them again.

I would recommend Rich. We have other projects we will use him for in the future for around our house and our rental.

He has done a great job. He came right away.

For years we have been receiving postcards from Rich about his services. We had used other contractors regularly but were looking to try someone new. Having just had siding put on our home this past summer, we knew our gutters were probably full of junk and with the size and height of our house, it wasn't a job we wanted to deal with ourselves. We called Rich the morning on the day after Thanksgiving. He came out that same day and took care of the gutters right away. We were thrilled at his responsiveness and felt the price was right, too.

I found Rich to be very responsive -- he gave me a quote over the phone for a couple of the repairs and was on time for the appointment that we'd set. He and his crew worked quickly and got everything taken care of in a very timely manner.

It was way past time to have our gutters cleaned, so I decided to try Rent-A-Husband as they had recently left a flyer in our mailbox. My phone call was answered by the owner and when I explained what I needed, he said he had just been in my area but was more than happy to turn around and come to my home. He and his crew arrived within 20 minutes from my call to clean the gutters. I never expected service the same day I called, much less within minutes of my call. They had the gutters cleaned quickly and were on their way. They were very professional and were also willing to bill me since I had run out of checks. The price was comparable to what other companies charge. Overall a very good experience with excellent customer service. I will definitely use this company again.

They are extremely prompt and punctual. Cleaned up every night after the job. If we needed something extra, they were very reasonable and did not look out to try to charge us a ton for the changes. They made excellent recommendations. I almost didn't know they were here. They get right to work and worked very hard. They did not want their final payment until they knew we were completely satisfied. They are very easy to talk to and do not come across as "schiesters".

THEY DID THE ORIGINAL ROOF WORK 3 YEARS AGO. A LEAK DEVELOPED RECENTLY, AND THEY FIXED IT FREE OF CHARGE. VERY PROFESSIONAL, WE TRUST HIM TO WORK ON OUR HOME WHEN WE AREN'T HERE, AND HE JUST LEAVES A BILL FOR US.

THEY ARE NICE PEOPLE, BUT NOT VERY SKILLED OR EFFICIENT. THEY DID NOT CLEAN UP AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE.
