He didn’t show up, didn’t call, text or email. The guy called me for the job, picked the time and the price, then doesn’t show without so much as a courtesy text. He then avoids calls all day, as well as those from Angie’s List. It’s not even a real company as far as I can tell. There’s only one number for all of Erie Coast Painting. It rings and rings with no answer. When it finally dumps to voicemail, it’s full and accepting no new messages. The message is automated with only the number dialed (no customized message from the company or even a recorded name so you know who you’d be leaving a message for... assuming you could). You cannot text this number and no matter how many times you call, no one answers. The entire experience was completely unprofessional. After attempting to reach this guy Mike all day, he finally emails me at 7:30pm the day of the missed job claiming it’s the first he’s heard of it and promises to fire “Jim” in the morning. Mike is the only contact listed for Erie Coast anywhere, on any site. He is the person who called me. He told me he’d be doing the painting himself. His personal gmail is the only email associated with the company. I have every reason to believe this is a one-man operation, who, at best, brings a buddy along if and when he lands a job requiring more than one pair of hands. He jumped on the Angie’s List job request literally within seconds of submitted it, then doesn’t pick up the phone the whole next day. If it’s not a one-man crew working out of his home, he obviously has no staff to answer calls or delete messages to clear out space for new voicemails. Working alone or as a team of 2 is absolutely fine, but provide a cell phone so you can at least text and check email in real time. And for pete’s sake, show up to your jobs, call if you’re not going to be on time, and act like a professional. Mike at Erie Coast Paint will do none of that. He’ll play dead if it suits him, then - when he receives notice that Angie’s List filed an incident report - will finally shoot you an email blaming a phantom “Jim” who he’ll pretend to fire to atone for his own negligence. In short, do not hire this man! I could get into just how much this cost me - it’s a long story having to do with the sale of my home and a photographer coming the next day - but none of that is important. No matter how urgent or big or small or consequential a job is, when you make a contract, you honor it. The fact that Angie’s List/Home Advisor vouched for this man, claiming to have vetted him is laughable. So I’ll vet him for you. Mike at Erie Coast Painting is a complete fraud. DO NOT HIRE OR GIVE THIS SO-CALLED “COMPANY” YOUR BUSINESS OR YOUR DEPOSIT!!! His LLC was establish within the past 3 months with a total of 4 reviews, 1 of them being mine. He’s already had a B and an F and the other 2 may not even be real.... “the best painter in Bay Village!” Yeah, I doubt that very much. Sounds like his mom to me.
