Technician arrived as scheduled. Introduced himself. Verified the reason for the appointment. Checked a visual of the drainline in question. Explained the possible charges ($92 if work was completed- clog removed- with 100 ft of snake and additional charge depending on amount of additional line needed to clear line). I agreed to have him do work. As it turned out, the clog appeared to be cleared after only approx. 2 feet of snake was put into drain line (the collected water in the line was draining freely). Technician removed snake to see if clogging material was caught on snake (so cause of clog could be id'd.....it wasn't caught). He explained that he could stop cleaning now.....charge would be only $42 but there would be no guarantee on work. If he ran out the rest of the line....charge would be $92 and also a 6 month guarantee (return trip/work within 6 months at no charge). I had him do all 100 feet of snake. Some more slight problems in line felt and some hair, etc caught on snake when it was reeled in after entire cleaning. Technician answered all questions thoroughly and even offered options to prevent future problems and recommended companies to do the other work if I decided to have it done since they did not do that type of work. He cleaned up what little mess had been made. Filled out the bill completely, took my payment, wished me a happy holiday and left. He had backed his truck into the driveway (necessary to reach entrance door to basement). He was careful to stay on the driveway and NOT run onto the rainsoaked yard and cause any ruts.
