Description of Work: Air conditioning unit installed in May 2008 (part of furnace put in, 10/2007.) Unit stopped working and after repeated calls to Salem Heating, the owner, Dave Miller came to my house. He changed a breaker in my electrical box. There was nothing wrong with the breaker; it was the unit that he had installed. There was a 5 yr limited warranty. The compressor went out. He charged me $50.00 an hour from the time his helper went after the part. The compressor was covered by warranty so none of the amount I paid was for the compressor. My bill was $92 for Freon, $60 for a filter line dryer. $250 technical service and $78.40 freight charge. I paid $50 an hour while his helper drove to Youngstown, about 35 minutes from his company. It took only about an hour to do the work. I found no other reviews on this company. This is the only reason I joined Angie’s List was to warn others.

Description of Work: Installed a furnace. Have had many furnace issues. Smelled gas in March of 2012. Called another Heating company and found that the furnace was improperly installed. Two pieces were put together that should not have been which caused the leak. Furnace man called back 11-7-12 and found that the board that drove the furnace was cracked. Should never have been installed with a crack. The owner of this company is very unprofessional. I would never recommend him. Had I not smelled the gas, who knows what could have happened. Learned yesterday when the other service company was here that my furnace was converted from Natural gas to LP gas and he had taken the kit that he removed so if I want to go to natural gas, I would have to purchase the conversion kit, even though it was mine bought and paid for.
