Szabi did a fantastic job refinishing my parquet floors. They look absolutely beautiful. The entire project took 5 separate visits and each time he was very meticulous about cleaning up any mess and debris. He is a very nice guy and I have another project in mind that I will be hiring him for. I highly recommend Farkas Flooring.

Our 1922 house had carpeting covering all of the original white oak floors. While we did the main living areas before we moved in, we decided to tackle the remaining downstairs hallway, stairs to upstairs bedrooms, and the remaining 2 bedrooms, closets and halls upstairs that we had not done originally when we bought the house 17 years ago. After tearing up the carpeting, we found the floors were majorly scarred, with patchworks of poorly repaired holes, ribbing stains from carpet underlayment, and gaps between the floorboards. One hallway had felt-like mastic remnants still glued to it after we pulled up 4 layers of tile glued to floor, glued to layers of carpet above it. The stairs looked like they had been painted down the middle with black paint, and every floor had decades-old paint spatters and other stains. We weren't confident they could be salvaged. I'll skip to the end: the floors and stairs look exquisite. Szabi performed nothing short of a miracle to make them look close to what they must have when the house was built, but with a darker stain that closely matches the ones we had done 17 years ago. His repair and replacements to some of the boards cannot be discerned from the original. The floors are so beautiful, we now hesitate to cover them with area rugs. Though there was nothing he could do about some of the larger gaps (there is no subfloor unfortunately), the overall beauty of the refinished floors makes them almost disappear, and he did some restorative work to minimize them. The stairs, which we though we would need to cover again, are magnificent and turn out to be cherry, and there is absolutely no trace of the black painted stripe up the middle, nor the excessive former paint spills and other stains that made it look unsalvageable. We were skeptical when Szabi came to give us a quote, when he indicated he thought he could make them look good again, though he was less optimistic about the stairs. He is a one-man show, and works tirelessly and carefully. His 15-years of experience shows; every corner and exposed piece of wood, including under radiators, is beautifully restored. The sanding was even and careful, the stain a near-perfect match to the custom one we used before, and the floors sparkle. He left NO mess, and barely any dust to clean. He is professional and courteous, and fairly priced. This was a tough job, and he was the right person to do, as it turned out. It took a day or so more than he originally thought, but he didn't cut corners to stay on schedule. He called and confirmed before coming, and always showed up when he said he would. He was careful about our cats, making sure they didn't get out. There is no doubt this man know his craft, and delivers.

Scheduled four months out because he is in demand, however, kept to exact week/date/time he originally scheduled. Work completed in 4 days. No mess, barely any dust. Floor looks better than new. Excellent work. Smooth and perfect. Could walk sock-footed on it each night after 6pm because he worked on it in the morning each day which was good for us. Professional and expert at his craft. Trusted him with a key during the job. Definitely would recommend.

He did an excellent job! My floors were in bad shape. There was a lot of staining and several areas where wood had to be replaced. I received several estimates and half told me not even to bother refinishing and recommended I get new floors. Szabi, however, was confident he could get them looking great and his estimate was very affordable compared to others. I am so pleased with how the floors turned out! It's great to be able to keep the original wood. Szabi was very easy to work with, always on time and professional. He even came back after he finished the job and replaced wood on one spot that had a stain. I have recommended him to several other people and would definitely hire him again.

When pulling up the carpet, we found some damaged board which was a bummer, but Szabi was able to replace the wood the very next time and completed the entire project in less than a week! Szabi is very approachable and his work is excellent!

We had a discussion over a piece of flooring that would overhang the steps and he came back and added that threshold after the project was finished. Other pieces came into play in our kitchen that just didn't look quite right and he came back finished that up for us. It's absolutely beautiful.

Szabi gave us the estimate in June, and even though he couldn't start work until September, he was worth the wait. He showed up exactly as promised every day, and he did an outstanding job on our floors--they look beautiful!

I was thrilled with the work done by Szubi Farkas of Farkas Flooring, from the time he came out to do the estimate until the day he finished all the work. I chose Szubi out of 8 companies I interviewed, because (1) he did the estimate but was also going to do the work himself, (2) he had excellent references, and (3) his price was fair. We had to do the work in three phases because of the furniture that was in my home and had to be shifted from room to room. I had carpeting covering hardwood floors in my home for over 25 years. The padding was stuck to the floor when the carpeting was removed, but Szubi managed to get everything off. He refinished three bedrooms, living room, office, dining room, three hallways, and a staircase. Szubi showed up when he said he would, kept me apprised of his progress, and he cleaned up after himself each day. I truly had no mess and minimal dust in my home. I also felt totally comfortable giving him access to my home while I was away. I have already recommended him to several people and I would definitely use him again!

It went great! Szabi was very easy to work and priced very reasonably and competitively. He is very professional and always called with updates. He does excellent work and we couldn't be happier with the finished product. We will definitely be using him again.

Szabi was excellent. He showed up exactly on time both days and completed the work quickly. The stairs had glued down and stapled carpeting on them and were a complete disaster. They look awesome now!

Both floors looked like disasters, but the work completely transformed the floors. Wonderful work, beautiful results. Would recommend to others and will utilize again in the future.

I don't even know where to start.... Contractors/Repair Professionals are not made like this anymore. Szabi showed up on-time, listened to, and addressed, every concern I had. Not only was his price extremely reasonable, but the quality of his work was exceptional. He explained what he was planning to do before he did it, and how to care for the floors after completion. I even felt comfortable enough to leave while he worked. He is incredibly considerate, and attentive. I had other work done in my house about a week and a half after he refinished my floors, and the workers accidentally scratched my floors. I called Szabi, he explained my options and offered to come back out free of charge. True to his word, he came out the next day. This review is lengthy, I know. However, I really want to give credit where credit is due. In a world full of contractors, repairmen, and workers in general, who don't do what they say, provide horrible service, and deliver poor quality work, it's refreshing to find someone who shows respect, and takes pride in his work. Szabi is a high character guy, with skills to match. I would definitely use him again. P.S.- my floors have never looked better!

Zsabi Farkas was punctual, set up his equipment and got right to work. It took him a total of about 5-1/2 hours to complete the job. It looks like a brand new floor. I am so happy with the work that Zsabi did. He was professional and thorough and willing to answer the questions that I had. Because my hallway is small (about 5-1/2' by 13', he informed me that he would have to charge his minimum price of $500. I accepted that and then told him I found him on Angie's List and he immediate gave me a 5% discount. I would use him again in a N.Y. minute. Thanks again, Zsabi.

We had Szabi Farkas remove carpet and finish hardwood floors in the home we purchased in August 2014. We have been here a year and they still look beautiful from the work he did. He was professional in all our interactions and arrived on time each day. He worked to cause as little disruption to our home and schedule as possible and cleaned up well each day when he was done working. He made great suggestions and mixed a color that was perfect for what we were having done. We were very impressed with his skill and would highly recommend Farkas Floors!

Szabi arrived on-time each day (job was supposed to take 1 week, but ended up 1 1/2 weeks) and worked very quickly and efficiently. We asked him whether he would also install the new base board moulding and quarter round if we provided it for him. He said he would take care of it. We also asked if he would install and stain flush mounted floor vents and he said he would as long as we buy the vents. He really went above and beyond and didn't charge us for the extra work (I hate it when someone nickels and dimes me and Szabi definitely did not do that.) We had difficulty in picking a stain, so Szabi mixed one special just for us that my wife and I agreed on. We did have one section that showed some scratches after he finished staining and Szabi had to redo the entire area with no complaints and he even worked h****** another job so that he could finish our floor quickly because it went longer than scheduled. We would definitely recommend Farkas Flooring to all of our friends!!

Szabi did a phenomenal job -- it looks like we have a new house! He was professional, courteous, helpful and meticulous. He asked the right questions when a decision needed to be made, and he was gracious about working in a home that had 4 cats, 1 dog, and two visually impaired people. I am really happy with his work and would unreservedly recommend him to anyone else. He is not too expensive for the exquisite work he does -- his bid came in several thousand dollars under many others and he also had the best reviews -- not a hard choice to make! You are also not working with subcontractors when you work directly with him.

Simply, we highly recommend Farkas Flooring. He sanded/stained/sealed the original hardwood floors in 3 bedrooms/closets over the course of 3 days in our house built in 1924. There was minimal dust and the end result was fantastic. We had to wait about a month and a half for him to come out after giving the estimate, but that was because of how busy he was.

Sazbi did an amazing job on our floors and we thought he went over and above what is normally done. Our floor looks absolutely beautiful and the job he did was very meticulous . He was on time every day, very knowledgable and when he was finished cleaned every last spec of dust! Highly recommended!
