"We started by talking with a local contractor about the project and got a quote but was uncomfortable with using him because of no references or insurance. We decided to use Angi's and selected Sampson and Sons Concrete due to the high reviews also that he was a bonded and insured contractor with 5 star Angi ratings. We met the contractor Rick Sampson at our home, liked him and worked with us while we established a design, colors, patterns etc. for the project. He eventually provided the attached contract and we agreed to proceed at a quoted price of $5400.00. There were several delays in starting project due to his other work and weather, but it was finally started around June 12, 2024. The initial grading and compacting was done first followed by a concrete pour around June 18, 2024. On the day the walkway was poured (Name Removed) had 3 others working with him. I spoke with one of them who seemed to know what he was doing and asked about sealing the walkway. He said it should cure for about 30 days before sealing then make sure no rain gets on it for at least 2 days. That evening I noticed the step risers were very thin and poorly finished. I planned to ask Rick about them on his next visit. The next day Rick was back working on the walk, I saw him pulling the forms. Later that day my wife informed be he had already sealed the sidewalk, asked for final payment and left? We noticed the walk had his boot prints sealed in dust/dirt under the finish coat along with multiple areas of rough/porous pull outs caused by lifting forms from concrete without enough release agent. I sent (Name Removed) a text to not cash the final payment check until he got back with me and corrected the problems. I told me we had torrential rain that fell on the sealer within 2 hours of application and the finish was not acceptable. He assured us he would make it right, but did cash the final check anyway. During the next few weeks he did bring a more experienced worker to our home and he assessed the problems. They decided to hide the riser defects with an overpour of concrete in a brick pattern. Also decided to use a chemical wash to remove sealant and boot prints from walk. They planned to sand the porous areas before coloring and resealing the walk. Eventually they did the work, saying they were done about August 20th. No correction was done to the porous areas and the remaining parts of walkway were covered with a slurry of sealer and coloring in an effort to hide the boot prints they could not remove with cleaning. The experienced worker told me his original pour crew didn't have enough experience with stamped concrete causing the finish problems. They left me some additional sealer saying to keep putting in over the porous areas and coloring to help seal it and hide the prints. I told them another worker had said the walk should cure for a month and no rain for two days, they said with the type of sealer they used that wasn't an issue. On the day they finished we had rain again over the work they had just done. As the sealer dried we noticed the boot prints were starting to leach back up to the surface and become visible again, and the porous areas remained open and started collecting dirt. I sent Rick a text on August 28, 2024 along with several photographs of the problems that had returned. He said he would get back with me on August 29th by text and that is the last I have heard of him. On October 10th, 2024 I texted him again saying it has been 42 days, still no reply. I then used the Angi number and left him a voice message to call but he did not. While waiting to hear from him, I contacted the Deco Crete business who sells the products used on my project and they said the only way to restore the walk from these types of problems would be to sand blast it, then recolor and seal it. I was provided a contact named Bill at Concrete Doctors. I called him and he confirmed the walk would need sand blasted then colored and sealed. His verbal estimate for that work was $1750.00. I have been more than patient working with Sampson and Sons Concrete and only used them because of the Angi recommendation for them. Initially they were cooperative but as it became apparent their mistakes could not be corrected; they stopped trying and left me paying the full cost-plus repairs. That isn't acceptable and I need your help to resolve this matter."

SmartLevel Concrete is a concrete leveling and repair company set out to change the way customers experience the construction process. We use the proprietary product, PolyLevel, for our foam injection leveling. We use NexusPro silicone based sealant for joints and cracks. Lastly we use SealantPro surface sealer to permanatly protect your concrete surface.
"They came out to give me an estimate and were right on time. Had another company come out first and they said they could not do the work. Smart level did not see a problem with doing the work. When it was time for them to come out and start the job the installer called ahead to let me know what time and again was right on time. The installer told me everything that he was going to do and the job came out great. I was more than satisfied and would recommend them highly."

Mudjacking can be an expensive foundation repair process, but in many cases, it’s well worth the investment. This is especially true if you’re lifting a portion of sunken foundation slab back into place. In that case, mudjacking can help avoid major structural damage and even home collapse by restoring the integrity of your structure with minimally invasive procedures. Mudjacking a concrete patio, walkway, or sidewalk can be worthwhile because it removes tripping hazards and makes your outdoor area more aesthetically appealing.
The average cost of mudjacking is around $5 per square foot of concrete, with most concrete leveling jobs totaling between $3 and $8 per square foot. The typical cost to fix a sinking portion of concrete slab with mudjacking is around $1,100. The price you’ll pay depends on the size of the concrete slab you need to be leveled, the accessibility of the slab, and the type of material your contractor uses beneath the concrete to lift it back into place.
In most cases, no, mudjacking is not possible as a DIY job. Not only do you need specialized equipment to cut into your slab and pump the cementitious material underneath it, but it’s also a challenging process, and the consequences of making mistakes include additional structural damage to your home. It’s possible to rent mudjacking equipment to attempt a DIY repair, but the risk of added property damage usually isn’t worth the money you’ll save on labor, especially if the concrete you’re lifting is a part of your home’s foundation.
