The person spent enough time to show me on the computer their systems, it was helpful to see it on the screen. I feel they are honest and efficient. Highly recommend.
Description of Work: I called them for an estimate, the person came in time and had a complete inspection, he told me that my concern is not really a big issue. I got the quote. Still wondering if I should do the service or not, since it is not yet leaking.

The was a very good experience. The office staff listened to the entire story that had led me to call and schedule an appointment. It didn't take but two days to get him in. He called ahead and was actually early! He listened to the tale, looked at the wall and gave me his well-put and frank opinion--we didn't need any work. The basement was dry, the water line repaired properly and there was no work for him to do. He did not charge me for his time, although I offered. His manner was thorough professional and if ever do have a problem I would call him quickly. Hope I don't have to.
Description of Work: We had experienced a water line leak in the ground outside the basement wall and some leakage thru the block. We had the line repaired but I wanted a professional look at the water leak sites and and an opinion about what, if any work needed to be done.

They asked over the phone if there was any paneling and I told them there was, but he seemed surprised when he got here that there were panels. After taking 2-3 panels off he told me that it needed a lot of work done. I would need to pay between 50-70,000 to lift up the house and rebuild the walls in the basement and then place it back down. I then got unrelated engineer come out and told me something else entirely would need to be done and it would cost much less.

Response from The Basement Doctor
Our database records indicate the Member contacted us on January 11, 2013 regarding a vacant property (not her personal home) she was considering putting on the market, but the walls of the basement were bowing and there was water intrusion. On January 16, 2013 our project manager did a basement inspection for the member at the property. The house was built in 1914 and has a stone foundation. Our project manager indeed only removed a few pieces of paneling because as he was removing the paneling the stone foundation wall was crumbling to sand as he pulled the paneling away from the wall. Our project manager also attempted to remove paneling from the stone center support pillar; and again, the stone pillar began to crumble to sand. Based on the one wall and the center pillar crumbling; our Project Manager explained the WORST CASE SCENARIO could be all walls were crumbling and needed replaced, which could be as expensive as $50,000 - $70,000. Our Project Manager told the Member her best course of action would be to have a structural engineer analyze the foundation to determine what needed to be done, and then get us back involved. The last entry in our database for this member’s appointment is date stamped 1/18/2013 and documented: “Referred to Structural Engineer”. It appears the member took our advice and contacted a structural engineer. It is very unfortunate the Member has graded our concern for the structural integrity of the property, the expense she might be dealing with, and our advice to contact a Structural Engineer as an “F” instead of an “A”.

The job went quickly, the crew was great. It's been a awhile now and my basement has been quite dry. The price was in the middle of the group of estimates that I received. Overall, a very good experience.
Description of Work: Basement Doctors put in a french drain with sump pump and exterior drain, updated my window well, and put a drain in the emergency egress and patched a hole in the floor.
Once you accept the fact that The Basement Doctor is one of the most expensive options, you'll be very satisfied with everything else. VERY. They were always on time, always courteous, and frequent went above and beyond. For example, they were in the middle of the remodeling part when they super derecho storm came through. Our house was without power for five days. Not only did they show up on time anyway, but they brought their own generator and worked as normal. Beyond this, they helped us get some branches off of our roof! They made one mistake, putting a nail through our main water line and made sure the problem was fixed, and even amended the warranty to mention this. We love our new basement and use it every day. We recommend them highly! You get the best with Basement Doctor, and of course you are charged for the best.
Description of Work: We had The Basement Doctor waterproof our basement and then, after waiting the required time for the concrete to fully cure, they did a full remodel of two of our three basement rooms, including "sunroom windows" for four of our basement windows.

They were very helpful and professional. The old sump and back-up were removed and replaced with a new one in a timely fashion. We ran into an unexpected problem with some associated repairs and Ryan (the project manager) has worked to find us options that will work well, are cost effective, and maintain a nice exterior look. While we have not done this work yet, it was a very reasonable estimate that we will follow-up on in the future.
Description of Work: Replacement of sump pump and sump pump battery back-up system.
Their estimate for remodeling basement was $50-$60,000 whereas others were in the $19-30,000 for the same thing. They were knowledgable, but the price was out of the park!
Description of Work: This was to be a total remodel of basement.

Ryan came out the same day I called for service. He spent about 15 minutes inspecting our basement and reported that while they have services we might like (replacing our basement window well windows, new insulation, etc.), he did not find any need for mold remediation or waterproofing of our basement. It did not cost us anything for his timely and thorough inspection and his honest report. We were relieved and very impressed!
Description of Work: We called The Basement Doctor when carpet installers found what they thought might be mold in our basement. We put the installation on hold and called two companies to inspect our basement and let us know what it would cost us to solve our problem.

I am very happy this company. They are very professional and I trust them. They have done previous work to my home and I have future projects ahead that I will use them for.
Description of Work: Wes told me that after working on the basement, he would come out every 6 months at no charge to make sure everything was ok. He came back and said that everything looked ok but he did find some cracks. When looking around he found something very odd. He said that we had street creep. This has caused foundation issues to our home. We had four inches at the top of our driveway removed and replaced with asphalt because that material has cushion and will not push into the house. They fixed the cracks in the basement and braced part of a wall for us.

The salesperson was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He explained everything that needed to be done and why. I have to say that they did it quickly and with minimal damage to our lawn. We were not sure how much the fireplace would return to the house. It actually moved well enough that caulking was sufficient and looks great! There was no damage to the bricks on the fireplace as well. The basement doctor met up to our expectations. Although expensive, we decided that going with a company that is not "here today, gone tomorrow", and can stand by their work was worth it!
Description of Work: Our fireplace had come away from the house. The pad when originally poured was not large enough for the fireplace and over time and due to weather had shifted and sunk. The basement doctor had to pier the fireplace to the foundation. By doing so this would secure the fireplace and move it back as much as possible to the house. The area had to be dug next to the fireplace. Once the job was done the dirt was replaced.

Called for an appointment after finding Basement Doctor on Angie's list. The inspector called ahead to make sure I was available and arrived on time. His inspection and evaluation was completed in a timely manner.
Description of Work: I called Basement Doctor after finding them on Angie's List. Our home had a piece of concrete that had fallen off the corner. They came out for an inspection and to let us know what needed to be done. After looking at the concrete, it was only a piece of stucco that could easily be repaired, but had no effect on the home. He also inspected the area, just inside the crawl space and found no cracks or water infiltration inside. He made suggestions about our insulation and was very helpful. I would highly recommend Basement Doctor for their professionalism and honesty.

I left on vacation. When I returned I called and scheduled--they were cooperative in getting me a date,. One man came out on the date. It did require removing some drywall for access to foundation. Repair of the drywall is up to me, not included in the price. It was all done in less than a day. The repair is in white, so it can be painted to any color. We have had some heavy rains since then and no leaks. I am satisfied and would use them for repair again.
Description of Work: I had two cracks in my poured concrete basement. Water did enter through one during heavy rains. They sent their estimate person out. He looked it over explained the type of material they would use to repair. How it would be tied into to my existing basement drainage. It made sense to me. I signed an agreement Payment would be due in full upon completion. .

will give final report after the work is done
Description of Work: They are coming the end of the month to repair my foundation. They had a structural engineer come to my home to confirm the foundation problem and to agree or disagree with what work needs to be done. I am waiting for that report before the actural work is to be done. They were slow to get back with me at the beginning but doing ok now. I will give my final review on this company after the work is done.
Overall satisfactory with the work that was performed. The initial person no longer seemed to be of any concern after the deal was sealed. When later contacted, response was not as quick as prior to and the personality was quite different. Interesting comment made that the majority of the customers served were friends and were completely satisfied. Left a wondering question: are non-friends treated differently? Hmmm David was very friendly, informative and appeared to be honest and have true customer empathy. Did not like dealing with various individuals/personalities working on the project. After work began and discussions with others, not quite comfortable feeling with suggested work that was recommended. During initial meeting was very concerned with current/future water entrance/damage; sump pump concerns, crawl space issues, mold, mildew etc. During the work, was informed that when sump pump was unplugged and plugged back in, it was damaged and required replacment. When I asked why there was no indication of this prior to, during all questions/examinations, I was told, there was no way of knowing and that was not that individual's area of expertise. My question is why was this person addressing it. While that aspect was worked out, was quite surprised that the old sump pump was just left in the garage. Although the result was amicably resolved, very discouraging with electrical disconnect of home security system and not being able to identify issue and correct initially. Had to contact security provider and had to have re-routing and new connection. . So far, satisfaction with crawl space, ceiling/dry wall and other insulation. Have contacted about the epoxy on the basement walls because there are a couple of areas where damp/sticky spotting is present. Also, inquired and requested the outside basement walls and the inside flooring application of the apoxy that was indicated during the initial consult; however, it never happened and then I was told there is not a guarantee that the application would prevent any water from getting in. Dry Basement and Waterproofing - then what was the purpose?

I called back for the fifth time and finally received a call back. They claimed that the supervisor was out for some reason and was sorry for the delay. They are coming out next Monday to check out the problem. I will take off the F rating and go with a B for now until I see what they plan to do and how well they do it.
Description of Work: This company did a foundation repair to my home in 2002. That was ok. Just last week I notice some wall separation in my crawl space where they put in the steel piers. I have called the company four different times and talked to the operator about my problem and left several messages on the service department phone. I want them to come out a take a look at it. I am not saying they did anything wrong at this point, I want them to check it out and do a repair. It appears to me they aren't interested in finding out if they have a problem that needs to be fixed under the 20 year warranty. Until they call me back and come check it out , I am giving them a F rating on here. Very unprofessional to just ingore my calls !!

The sale person arrived on time and inspected my basement and explained the Basement Doctor services. He focused on waterproofing my basement due to my request. He showed videos explaining the water problem and how the water problem can be resolved. He went over pricing and applied the Angie List coupon. Work started on time. They had hoped to use my current beams but they were too short to incorporate into the Basement Doctor system. They did not charge for the beams removal and gave me a discount on the cost of the new beams.. I have cats and they were mindful of the cats and made sure they did not come down to the basement. They installed temporary industrial style plastics around door opening to prevent dust from coming upstairs. They concluded work on time and again explained everything that was done to resolve my basement water problem. After a couple of days an air bubble formed in the cement. I called the Basement Doctor who took care of it. They provided excellent customer service and did very good work. My basement is now dry even after heavy rain.
Description of Work: Waterproofed basement. Removed mold and mildew, applied mold/mildrew prevention substance to walls. removed old beans and installed beams designed to work with the Basement Doctor system, installed sump pump with back up battery and alarmed system.

I had another bid from another company that was also on Angie's List. They were less expensive and there was a leak in the wall, so they asked to put a drain in it. The Basement Doctor were the second one to come and they took the paneling off the wall. The guy said it was needed to put the drain in, so I thought they were more thorough than the prior company. They did a super job. They had very professional people. They actually coordinated because I was having the gutters put in my dad's house. One of the sales people was able to coordinate because he worked with the gutter people, which was on Angie's List too. He coordinated and he knew the guy, so he was able to help me with coordinating with that guy that I had already got a bid from. They were very thorough.

There were no problems with either the installation of the wall braces or the HVAC work. After everything was done, the area was cleaned up. The Basement Doctor's workers were courteous and efficient.
Description of Work: The cinder-block basement walls in my 50's era home had developed some cracks and I was concerned about further movement and water intrusion. I contacted the Basement Doctor for their appraisal of the situation. The solution they offered involved the installation of "power braces", which are basically beams anchored to the cement floor and held in place by heavy springs mounted to the ceiling joists. The concept is that the tension counteracts the external pressure and works gradually to push the walls back into place. My home's HVAC ducting had to be moved to accommodate the braces; Basement Doctor coordinated the HVAC work with a company of their recommendation (the fee for the HVAC work was handled separately from the brace installation). The workmen arrived on the scheduled day and installed five braces in a few hours; afterward, the HVAC technician reassembled the ducting and reconnected the system.
