The no pressure, no nonsense sales was professional and very refreshing. We merely decided to go in a different direction.
Description of Work: Quoted their system to restraighten & support a 50', basement wall (11 row block), including excavation, sealing of the outer wall, drainage tile, gravel, inside sump pump system, etc.

I was disappointed I would have to have someone else look - but they were honest, did not charge, were on time, and that was all I could ask for.
Description of Work: Basement doctor came out to house to look at a crack in my basement ceiling. Were able to tell me in just a few minutes that they could not correct the issue without having a structural engineer come out to inspect first and make a plan.

Sometimes the damage to a foundation calls for an engineer to get involved. We know when to bring in additional experts and don't pretend that every repair can be handled in a cookie cutter manner. We want your repair to be the right repair. Thanks for telling about your experience - if we can help in the future please call or email!

Wow is all I can say. They were on time, very professional, and answered any question I had. They arrived at 8:30 and were there until 5:30. They ate lunch while they worked... This was a lot more manual of a job than I expected
Description of Work: Took out old sump pump pit, dug it a little wider/deeper. replaced the pit, and added dual sump pump + batter backp. Dug a whole new pit on the other side of the basement.. and inserted a new pit & single sump pump with batter backup

It was expensive but they did a good job. They treated the wood and put sistering in the rafters next to boards that had dry rot. This guy really knew more than the others and solved the problem.
Description of Work: I had put on cleanspace which is a very thick vinyl that goes over rocks in a crawlspace so that moisture does not come up. However, I developed mold in there because of wet ground and a dehumidifier failure.

Thanks for calling us to fix your crawl space and mold issues. Excess moisture in the crawl space is bad - it can fuel destructive rot and mold. We're glad you were impressed with our knowledge level and ability.

Wes with The Basement Doctor was very professional and gave an honest opinion. As our home was built before "modern basements" were available we have been clueless as to how to maintain a slab stone foundation. We knew that there were no structural issues per our home inspection, but we have some crumbling stone (sand-like) and moisture coming in through the stone. Wes alleviated our fears by providing reassurance that the stones were still in good condition and that all of the "issues" we are having are occuring naturally and are nothing to worry about. This saved us the worry and probably thousands of dollars had we decided to do any unnecessary repairs.

When I called to set up a free estimate I explained that our foundation is Monolithic. The young lady explained that their system does not work with that type of foundation. She was courteous and apologetic that they could not help my situation. My query would be why not come & check to see if indeed I had a type of foundation that could not be fix with their system. A contractor told me the type when we added a garage.so I assume it is correct but I am o expert.

We were given help in determining that it was not our water leak inside or out. It was suggested that we put an extension on the pipe that the sump pump was using to get the water outside. Slowing the time between the sump pump going on and off stopped. It took 3 weeks, we never knew where the ground water was coming from. We saved money by being given free advice.

Inspected the basement with cracked walls. Gave a competitive quote for the work. Responded to all questions in a timely manner. Obtained a building permit which took a month due to the inspection agency. Work area was again reviewed by the supervisor Robert Giffin who would be in charge of the work. Additional cost items were suggested which were rational and approved. Work began one day later than planned but the work was completed within the time frame originally stated. Plywood was laid out in the path that excavating machinery would travel including over underground irrigation heads. The underground system was not damaged. In addition plumbing lines in the house were modified to permit installation of the steel beams and a glass block window replaced which allowed the beams to more easily be brought into the house, not through the first floor entry. Entry floor was protected with walkway mats. Exterior of walls was excavated, walls were aligned 2 to 4 inches, cracks filled, waterproofing, plastic and Styrofoam installed outside, gravel filled the excavations. Reconnected sump and downspout lines. Another change order for drain lines to the street which were needed. The supervisor and his crew were courteous and stayed Saturday to complete the work. All questions were addressed and the basement is dry and sound.
Description of Work: Installed 13 Steel support beams and straightened 2 bowed and cracked basement walls. Excavated exterior of walls. Repaired cracked concrete block, installed waterproofing and foam board, backfilled excavation with gravel. Removed excavated materials. Obtained building permit and passed inspections. Reconnected sump and drain lines and seeded disturbed lawn.

The gentleman that came out to quote the job was the owner of the company and he was very professional, knowledgeable and helpful in helping us to find a better way to do the job more economically. His crews were professional, clean and cleaned up after themselves everyday. They explained to us everyday when they came in what they're going to do. They were exceptional in their communication skills. The crew leader made sure we knew what was done everyday before he left and what he would be doing the next day when he came back. Overall, it was an amazing experience for a job that really was not something you desire.

The estimate seemed to be going really well. The man checked our sump pump by filling it with water and telling us we needed a new one. He also checked the pipes outside the house which were loose and needed reattached. I was pleased with his decisions UNTIL I had my dad come over to do the work of putting in a new sump pump which I purchased at Home Depot. My dad checked to make sure the sump pump was working just by lifting the floated. Lo and behold the pump worked! He then filled it with water and it worked. My dad also easily glued the pipes outside together with PVC cement (also purchased at Home Depot). Overall, we saved a ton of money by having a second opinion from someone not trying to make money.

He was very blunt and to the point, which I appreciated. He explained to me that in his professional opinion, the Radon System that was recently installed in my basement was "chocking off" my perimeter drainage system/floating foundation due to the gap being cauked. The water had no where to go except on my floor. Since then, I had the company who installed my radon system remove the cauk and install backer rod in the gap instead. Since then, I have had no water on my floor. I greatly appreciate all of the information Wes gave me (at no cost) in 5 min's. I wish there were more people that were able and willing to do this for people. Thank you Mr. Martin.

Workmen arrived ontime and explained what they were doing. Made the repairs, cleaned up very nicely, and quickly. Six months later, we have no leaks. The job was done very professionally. The lifetime warranty is being transferred to a new owner as we have sold the house and I believe that the warranty on this work was a good selling point.

After having about 5 different basement companies out for estimates on the issue we were having, we decided on the Basement Doctors based on price for what we were getting. We had the Basement Doctor out twice to evaluate and got two separate quotes, the latter being the better one. The project managers that came out to evaluate the problem and give the quote are very professional and quite knowledgeable about basements in general. We did ALOT of research before having contractors out for evaluations, so we knew the lingo and that helped alot. The actual manual laborers were great too. The lead technician was great and listened to our issues and made adjustments where necessary. They pretty much do anything to make you happy. They were neat, clean and courteous.
