RA Long Painting

I sent two requests for an estimate and never had the courtesy of a reply.

Excellent service in spite of all the rain. Any day they could possibly paint they did. Cleaned up each day before they left.

They did a great job and we would use them again as well as recommend them. They did a good job covering the windows before they sprayed, and I was overall happy. They did a good job matching the shutter colors as well.

We were very pleased. The price was reasonable. It is a really big house. They were punctual and professional. They were very good. We used them years ago.

I first contacted Rich (the owner) back in November 2012 when we purchased the house. We bought a foreclosed property that had been sitting empty for approx. two years and was in pretty rough shape.The chimney had large, gaping holes at the top from repeated freeze/thaw cycles and the stucco was chipped off and peeling in other spots. The paint was faded as were the shutters. Some were broken, some were missing altogether.The front porch had wrought iron posts that were in poor shape as well. Rich came out and looked it over and a few days later dropped off his estimate.We had several estimates done but his was the most detailed and professionally presented one we received. He also came to the house and talked with us at length about what we wanted and what his crew was able to do. The first part to be done was the stucco repair. They came out on Thursday and started setting up. I was completely floored when Steve (who I now refer to as the "stucco wizard") asked me if I minded if they worked on the weekend. (Are you kidding me? Who does that?) "Sure", I replied, "Fine with me!" They not only repaired all of the holes in the chimney, they recoated the ENTIRE chimney which wasn't even in the original estimate and they MATCHED the original stucco pattern PERFECTLY! You can't even tell it was repaired! They fixed all of the other cracked/damaged stucco on the rest of the house as well. There was also some damage to various trim boards (up at the gables) and above the garage door. (I'm telling you, this house was in bad shape-mostly from just pure neglect.) They have a carpenter on their crew and he replaced ALL of that damaged wood as well. Then they began painting. They painted the entire body of the house, all of the trim, and the decorative inserts underneath our 1st story windows. They also did the ceiling on the front porch, the wrought iron posts, and all of the gutters and downspouts. As an afterthought, I asked them to paint the front door as well. They painted that and even took apart our doorbell assembly and painted it to match. They also painted our gardening shed for us, reversing the color scheme so that it was the same as the house. Finally, they replaced all of the shutters with new vinyl shutters. I cannot begin to tell you what a transformation this house has gone through. It went from (as my husband put it, "looking like a bomb hit it") to a showplace! Even though I stuck with all of the original colors, it looks like a new house. Kevin (the crew superintendent) was a huge help to me when I was debating over color choices. He listened to my ideas and then offered suggestions when I was having trouble deciding. And even when I occasionally floated an idea or color option by him that was "questionable", at best, he didn't treat me like I was an idiot for doing so. He listened to me (patiently, I might add), and made "gentle suggestions", kind of putting me back on the right track. Everyone on the crew was professional and courteous. They worked hard, didn't goof off and got the job done in a timely manner. Their attention to detail was absolutely AMAZING. They did little things that you normally wouldn't even think twice about, but after they did it and showed it to you, it was like, "Wow! I didn't even think about that." They cleaned up after themselves every single day and didn't leave a trace of anything lying around. The day when they were finishing up, they were starting to put the new shutters on and bad weather was moving in and the sky was darkening fast. They scrambled up to the second story and were STILL working, even though it had begun to rain, and it wasn't until the first bit of thunder/lightening made an appearance that Kevin made them get down off the roof and stop for the day saying, "Thunderstorms and lightening don't mix well with power tools." Our house sits on a large corner lot and a curve so it is very prominently displayed when people drive into the neighborhood. One of my neighbors said, "Your house is the first thing they see when they enter Briarcliff. Your house represents Briarcliff." And she was absolutely right. So I can't express how grateful I am and how appreciative I am to Rich and all of his guys at RA Long Painting for the absolutely phenomenal job they did on this house. Even my husband, who is a very handy guy (he can do everything from drywall to electrical to hardwood flooring), and who has an extremely critical eye was impressed. He can't get over how well it turned out. We even have neighbors and total strangers from the neighborhood stopping by the house to compliment how nice it looks and to thank us for buying it and fixing it up! I knew the house had potential when we bought it and I knew it could be brought back to life. But I never dreamed it would turn out as beautifully as it did. We still have lots of work to do on the house. The garage door is being replaced next week and a week after that, a new roof is being put on to complement the new paint job. But thanks to RA Long Painting, I am no longer embarrassed by the appearance of my house. (On the other hand, the landscaping and the bushes...well, they're another story. But that's another contractor and another review!) Bottom line...if you need ANY type of stucco repair or painting done, whether you are in Reynoldsburg or the Columbus area in general, you would be wise to call Rich Long at RA Long Painting. You will NOT be disappointed! :)
