Walt's Handyman Services

At first it was difficult to get a time scheduled and he had to cancel our original appointment. However, Walt was pretty flexible in finding another date/time that worked. Unlike some of the other guys I called, I did not need to wait a week....His quote was probably 20/30 less than other quotes I got. He did a good job and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. I will most likely use him again in the future.

He's always been very thorough and conscientious. I've used him 4 times and he's very good. I had about 10 items in my list and he went through it very systematically. He's good at most household repairs and he can do any basic electric or plumbing services. If there's something that he doesn't want to do or he's not sure about, he will tell you. He's done some pretty big things for me in the past like install a new water heater. He's multi-talented and he does a very good job. There's a couple of things I know that he doesn't particularly like to do and they tend to be things that are not quite his expertise. But he does a lot of real high end things, too. I know that if the job is an emergency, he'll put that as a priority. He'll let you know when he's on the way. He's always been punctual, I haven't had any problems with it. I'm very happy with Walt's work.

They are great. I had a very good experience with them. The guy was busy so sometimes times we had some availability issues. I would use them again.

Walt suggested a rot resistant manufactured wood, and it was a great choice. He took care of the rotting and built nicer doors than what was originally on the shed. Very high quality workmanship.

Walt does excellent work. He handles it all, no subs. He took care or walls, fixture installations, sinks, toilets, tubs, tiling, flooring, plumbing alterations and electrical work. The plumbing and electrical looked awesome (the stuff you can't see when it's all done), and he takes great pride in the appearance of his work for the things you can see. He ran into issues, as can happen in an older home, but did a great job working around them. After seeing this work, I later had him rewire my basement and even install in-wall air conditioners. So if you want quality work, I'd definitely recommend him. However, since he doesn't subcontract, he can run behind schedule as he juggles various projects for other customers. If you're flexible and not as concerned about timeliness of the job as long as the job's done right, he's great. If you're more stringent on getting things done on time, I'd say your best bet would be to make those expectations clear.

This is the second time I've had Walt come out. Excellent across the board. Will call him first.

Kitchen cabinet was falling off wall. Walt took the cabinet off, repaired and reinforced the cabinet and hung it back up, within the week.Excellent service and a very trustworthy person. Would definitely use again.

He's a really nice person, does a very nice job and I'm thinking of having him come back to do some work for us again. He's really professional, he's always done such a nice job and his services are very reasonable.

Walt fit me in to his busy schedule and came to our house in early evening. He is friendly, polite, competent and took pride in doing our job correctly even though it was a relatively small job. I was impressed with his knowledge of many other aspects of home maintenance. Although he already put in a full day's work before coming to our house he patiently answered all my questions and was meticulous in his work. I was very pleased with the outcome and would hire him in a second for other home maintenance jobs - big or small .

Walt rebuilt the subfloor in a small bathroom, installed a new toilet and new vinyl plank floor. He installed the same vinyl plank in the adjoining kitchen. He also completely replaced the old galvanized plumbing in the basement with copper and installed a new PVC sewage pipe. Outstanding work with a constant eye on the budget. For example, I tore up and prepped the old floor to save $$ and his time. He is busy, so it took us a while to get started, but absolutely no complaints. I will be hiring him again.

Walt is a perfectionist. He treated our home like it was his and was not satisfied until everything was perfect ! We have used his services before and we were very satisfied each time. Walt is trust worthy; we had no problem with Walt working in our home when we were not home. We love our new bathroom and feel like we should be giving tours to show it off to our friends!

He knows his stuff. He is very competent. He answers his phone. He also shows up on time. He is an excellent communicator as well.

He was very professional, he answers his phone, and is very easy to deal with. He has good follow up and is very knowledgeable. I was very confident that he knew what he was doing and he was very honest. His work was excellent. I would definitely use him again and I'd highly recommend him to anyone.

Walt was on time to the job, estimate was accurate, finished when he said he would and left the area the way it was prior to completing the work.

Overall it went fine. Absolutely no problems.

I needed a basketball hoop installed which involved a lot of cement, among others. Walt came and installed the hoop and filled in the deep hole with cement and made sure it was level. Great job.

Other than taking a longer than we expected; the job went really well. No complaints. Awesome to have another full bath. Adn we have Walt scheduled to come and enlarge and totally remodel an upstairs bathroom; including installing a washer and dryer in the remodel.

Walt does a good job but is hard to pin down.

Although I did not utilize Walt for my project, it was no fault of his. The project got postponed due to other factors. He was timely, professional, and accomodating. He was informative, explained everything he would need to do, and went over all pricing and services he would render. You should not plan any renovation without first giving Walt the opportunity to meet you and work up and estimate.

Regrettably, Walt hurt his hand and could not return to do other things that we expected him to. Still waiting.

I would highly recommend Walt's Handyman Services. He does his job very well for a very reasonable price. He completes the service on time. I would recommend him. I would definitely call him again.

Years ago a whole house fan consisted of a loud metal structure resting on the support beams of the ceiling of your house. Very easy to install and sounds like an airplane landing in your house when it's on. Nowadays they make far more sophisticated units which are heavily insulated to dampen sound and use long insulated duct work with fans on the ends to create the vacuum. I purchased such a unit online and was told by the company that all I would need to do is find a handyman or electrician to install the fan. Any time a company tells you "all you have to do…" Run! Finding someone willing to come out and install a product that they didn't sell you was nightmarish. Every single person started off by saying that in addition to the service fee they would have to charge me an additional surcharge plus their hourly rate. I would sooner return the product then pay some electrician to extort money out of me. I called the company who sold me the fan and they suggested just hiring a "handyman". I had no idea that such a category even existed on Angie's list however I found Walt as one of the first providers and read some of his reviews. He not only comes highly recommended, he appears to be extremely busy because he is in such demand. Walt answers his own phone, is extremely professional, and arrived early. (I think he might be the only contractor in history to actually show up to an estimate or job early) I live in Chesterland, he lives in Ravenna, it's over an hour for him to get to my house so again, it was impressive that he was actually on time. Walt took a look at the project and suggested ways for me to save a few dollars by going to Home Depot and purchasing some of the materials he would need. He said this way he is simply giving me a flat fee for his time which is the fairest way to do it. We scheduled the appointment for 9 AM Saturday morning that same week and again he arrived right on time. Walt worked like a mule for 3 1/2 hours running up and down stairs and inside the attic to get this thing installed. Truthfully, I felt like he under charged me considering the amount of work he did. The fan works beautifully and looks like it was installed when the house was built. The end of the story is that Walt is a gentleman and a standup contractor. He had every opportunity to demand more money out of the job and never said a word. I will always contact him first for basic electrical and handyman services in the future. I strongly recommend Walt to any member.

Walt was professional in his work and explanation of what needed to be done. He explained, to our satisfaction, additional work that should be done. We agreed. We need to replace some additional plumbing and had to buy parts. We're scheduling Walt to come back to complete the task.
