Description of Work: I had what I thought was a leak from a ridge vent. The owner, Leroy, came on a snowy day. He suggested looking in the attic to check for evidence of water when the workers came. The ridge vent was replaced with shingles due to it being improperly installed and two smaller vents were put in the attic roof. Leroy came back to see how I thought it went. They were great to do business with. A fair price for a great job! They certainly deserve a recommendation.

Description of Work: I had a roof put on 15 years ago and they had to repair the poor work from the original company.

Description of Work: Replaced a slate roof on a garage bulit in 1920 with regular roofing after inspecting where the leaks were coming from. No water damage to the top, but on inspection noted water damage coming to the top sides damaging the sofit on two sides of the garage. Some of the old slate had been chipped, repaired with some metal. The spouting ties had been nailed to the slate probably causing more leaking. They removed the slate and were careful not to disturb the wood under. They used a tarp to cover dust etc. I was surprised how clean it was when all the slate was removed. They even swept the roof and carefully removed any nails showing before they started installing the roof. Several neighbors watching them came over to ask about servicing their roofs. They were referred to call Portage Roofing for inormation and set up an appointment. The roof looks beautiful---really sets off that old garage, never lost it's character. I have three big dogs and they were very considerate when I had to let the dogs out now and then and made a point to close the gate each time. They were pleasant, worked well as a team and were very timely. We had a short rain the day of instllating the roof so they came back Saturday morning for a few hours to complete the job. As I sat on my back porch three different people walked by and remarked how nice it looked-------I should have done this a few years ago--just glad I deciced on Portage Roofing. I had two other offers, one cheaper but neither inspected the "inside" of the garage----PR did----------that's when I made up my mind. I didn't need the wood replaced on top-so they saved me a little more in the long run. Good eye. Bonnie C.

Description of Work: Tore off old roof. Put on new plywood base (old 1871 boards had some dry rot). Put on a new, steel shingle roof.
